    The 2016 Stage48 Member Ranking

It's here again! The time has come to determine which members we, as a forum, liked the best in 2016. The past year was interesting in many respects. Sasshi became our first consecutive Queen in the sousenkyo, which broke history in the 48 Group. However, here on Stage48 we seemingly like Mayuyu a lot better. In fact, we broke history ourselves last year as the first time we had a tie for 1st Place (between Mayuyu and Naachan), and all that separated Sayanee from the top was ONE measly point. That was the most nailbiting finish we had yet, so let's see what happens this year!

*Note that you should only take events from 2016 into account for this ranking. Anything that happened in 2017 so far shouldn't influence your decisions.

For those new to this, this event works by consolidating the personal member rankings of everyone that decides to participate to find who our most popular members in the 48 and 46 Groups are. You will need to rank your favorite members, so get working on your Top 20!

This is a point system with your oshimen getting 15 points, your 2-oshi getting 10 points, and so on. I will then add up all the points each member got from ALL people who voted on the forum and rank them in order, all the several hundreds of them.
    Code:
    01. MEMBER NAME (+15)
    02. MEMBER NAME (+10)
    03. MEMBER NAME (+9)
    04. MEMBER NAME (+8)
    05. MEMBER NAME (+7)
    06. MEMBER NAME (+6)
    07. MEMBER NAME (+5)
    08. MEMBER NAME (+5)
    09. MEMBER NAME (+4)
    10. MEMBER NAME (+4)
    11. MEMBER NAME (+4)
    12. MEMBER NAME (+3)
    13. MEMBER NAME (+3)
    14. MEMBER NAME (+3)
    15. MEMBER NAME (+2)
    16. MEMBER NAME (+2)
    17. MEMBER NAME (+2)
    18. MEMBER NAME (+1)
    19. MEMBER NAME (+1)
    20. MEMBER NAME (+1)
You can also give negative points to up to 5 members. These negative points are completely optional and you can submit any number from 0 to 5, with the member you dislike the most getting -5 points. If you only give negative points to one member, that will be -5 points, if you have two members you dislike they will be -5 and -4 and so on. I want to stress that these should be used only if you really have a personal reason for disliking a member, not just because they're at the bottom of your ranking or because of some management decision completely out of their hands, like the kennin system or something.
    Code:
    01. MEMBER NAME (-5)
    02. MEMBER NAME (-4)
    03. MEMBER NAME (-3)
    04. MEMBER NAME (-2)
    05. MEMBER NAME (-1)
Once again, we'll be using @foodlfg's program to help count the votes, now updated with the members who were active in 2016. Please thank him, as his program allows us to get the results out so much earlier without having to handcount all the votes by myself. As with last year though, I'll still looking at each ranking personally, checking to make sure the ranking follows the rules, was submitted by someone eligible, etc, so with this mix of automating and personal oversight, we're confident we can bring you the same high quality results as in previous years, just faster. Please also thank @rka and @ForrestFuller who took over for DreamingPebbles in assembling the list of eligible members.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Voting Period
    April 3, 2017, 12 pm (JST) - April 15, 2017, 11:59 pm (JST)

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Rules/Directions
    1. All members with 80 posts and above can participate. This post requirement is in place to prevent people from making multiple accounts to vote (we can track that anyways) but also to make sure the people voting are actively involved in the fan community and know the members of the 48 Group well. Ideally, if you're giving members points, there was some facet of her personality that you liked, and you would've liked to discuss on our forums to learn more about her before you decided to support her. If you do not have 80 posts yet, there is still time until the deadline. Don't spam the forums to get 80 posts though, those posts will be deleted.

Anyone caught using multiple accounts will have all their accounts temporarily banned as well as a permanent warning issued to both accounts, unremovable by anyone except staff. Even if you have multiple accounts, don't use them to cheat this.

    2. Send me a private message (PM) with the two above forms with the point values assigned to each member. You can do so by clicking my username to the left and then "Start a New Conversation." The list of eligible members is listed below in the 2nd post which includes all members that were active at some point in 2016. Use full names, first and last! I may or may not know the nickname of some girls, and some members share the same first name, so send me them exactly as written in the 2nd post.

    3. Once I have received your votes, I will add them to the program I am using to count votes, and your name will appear in this OP. If you send it to me and you don't see your name yet, don't panic, it simply means I haven't gotten to it yet. All votes received before the end of the voting period will be counted.

    4. Do not reveal your rankings until the whole contest is over. It's more interesting to see final results without knowing what everyone voted for.

    5. You must use all 20 spots. There's 550+ girls, I'm sure you can pick 20 you like. Negative votes, however, are optional.

    6. Doublecheck your ranking before sending it to me, making sure you didn't accidentally give two people the same spot or give the same member two different values. Last year I had to spend way too much time contacting people to fix their ranking and waiting for them to respond. If you copy and paste the format in this post, you'll be fine.

    7. Members with three or more warnings on their accounts from 2016 will have their entry disqualified.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For examples, please see last year's thread and results. Please represent your oshimen and other favorites and vote! Anything can happen in these rankings; remember, 1 point separated Sayanee from Mayuyu and Naachan.

Results will be revealed over a period of days just like the past years to make it more exciting. The timetable will be posted once the results are in and I know how many girls ranked and how many remained out of ranking. Even with the new program, don't bother me for when they'll be out. They'll be out ASAP when I'm done counting.

Any questions or comments, leave them here and feel free to start the discussion!

    FAQs/Notes

    1. How do I indicate which Yokoyama Yui or Sato Shiori I want to give points to?

If you only put Yokoyama Yui, I'm going to assume you're voting for our soukantoku. If you want to vote for Team 8's Yokoyama Yui, please put Yokoyama Yui (Team 8).

Similarly, if you only put Sato Shiori, I'm assuming you're voting for Keyakizaka46's Sato Shiori. If you want to vote for Team 8's Sato Shiori, please put Sato Shiori (Team 8).

    2. Do I have to include the point values next to each member when I submit my list?

Yes. It just makes it easier to eye when I'm looking at the ranking to see if you're missing anything or put something in the wrong place.

    3. How do I check how many posts I have?

Just click your username or go to your profile. Your number of "Messages" is your posts.

    4. Can I change my ranking after I've submitted it?

No. Once it's counted, that's it. You have 2 weeks to come up with your Top 20, if you're unsure about it you can take the time to decide before submitting. There's no need to rush.

    5. Why isn't my username in the OP yet?

I still haven't counted your ranking yet. As long as you submitted your ranking within the voting period, you're fine though.

    6. What happens if you discover a mistake in my ranking but only after the voting period ended?

That's fine too. Again, as long as you submitted on time your ranking is guaranteed to be counted unless you broke one of the rules or you're a duplicate account, in which case you'll be banned for a while. If there is a problem, I'll PM you and give you time to fix it as long as you submitted before the deadline.

    7. I found a mistake in your member list/Someone who was active in 2016 wasn't included/Someone who wasn't active in 2016 was included!

Please let me know immediately! I'll need to amend it before anyone else votes using the wrong list then.

    8. Where is SNH48?

Due to their break from the 48 Group, they are no longer eligible for this ranking.

*To be updated as questions come in

Now I can open this thread. This year I've had less people bugging me about when this would be put up. Some of you are finally catching on that it's always done as soon as I can find the time and that asking me won't help anything [hehe]

As always, I want to ask everyone to carefully, carefully, check their rankings before submitting it. Is the girl you're voting for actually eligible? Do you have 20 girls in your list? Do you have doubles? Are your point values correct? I hate having to message you all to fix things, so just make everyone's life easier by doing it correctly from the start. You have a little bit less than two weeks to submit your ranking, so there's no rush to submit it immediately. Deliberate, and think about which girls you really want to vote for.

    With that said, happy voting!

    EDIT:
Forgot to add, anyone know anyone know any rankers that are up to date? It would be a good resource to put in this thread

AWWW Yeah!!!.. Last year was a 'Barn Burner'- it was really fascinating. So many surprises, upsets, risings, & truths revealed. It was an interesting indication of "Things to Come". This might've been my Hardest year ever...I had 3 revisions in 1 hour. I had to dig deep to justify each vote! My Negatives were surprisingly easy. Now...a quick word about "Voting" from a veteran
I highly Advise READING the last 1-2 years Results comments & reasoning for HOW & WHY people voted. Try not to think of the "Rank" so much as "POINTS" are the coin of the realm. FILL your Spaces! remember even a "Throw Away" (+2) is going to matter! If 10 people just throw for example Mayu Watanabe (or Anyone) +2 points, she gets "20 points" - that can Easily Neutralize '4 "Anti Votes" of Negative 5 (-5). You'll notice the more popular the girl (Points wise) also will in many case have 15-40 Negative Points. So EVERY POINT COUNTS!! Your minor points (+1, +2, +3's) will matter, Don't throw them away on just anyone- Unless you really want to.

Negative Votes- every year, we have people who protest & say "I don't think it should be allowed" & every year we have atleast 2-5 people who wish they had "Used theirs" when they had the chance- lol. READ the previous years. Often there's a constructive reason & valid POV for why a girls gets - 8 votes. It's NOT a hate contest. It's more like a "Needs Improvement" or "Very Disappointed" or "I was Betrayed by..." Vote.

I am NOT telling you how to Vote- just saying what I've seen go down for the last few years.

What I like most about this Ranking is you get to meet New People, hear a vast amount of opinions, Lots of Lurkers come out to say "Hi!", Retired regs pop back in for a chat (even if they didn't vote, just share thoughts), You learn about the Popularity of MANY New Girls, & You really get taste of who is on the "cutting edge" & who independently is making an Impact in the AKS world. This Event will make you a Better AKS fan! This ranking every year "Brings us together" while it seems like it's "Tearing us apart" in the comments - lol.

I highly encourage you to enjoy this "event" to it's fullest!

@ithebigc there is a typo in Takanashi Ayane's (Team 8) name.

As in every year, dead are rising to cast a vote www

This will be a hard voting for me - I will probably opt for the same top, even though youngsters are already calling for getting rid of "forest grannies from Tokyo"... big changes are coming. I might be voting conservatively this last year.

Doubt it. 46G fans aren't usually that involved in full forum activities and usually the group as a whole favours well established members.
I'm expecting the same top 3 in a different order.

^^But not everyone is a fan of her lmao

Edit: If we have a member that we are going to put in the negative ranking but don't want -5, can we just do something lower? I don't have 5 people nor do I want the member(s) that I will be putting to get more negatives than what they "deserve".

Also, are there like rankers for 2016 members? I remember that last year, there were sites where you have to select between members and the site ranks the members for you.

A lot of regular posters. But regular posters are disproportionately pro new members.

Lurkers and irregular posters often take part in these in large numbers and they're generally pro-veteran.

In the past the negatives points worked in the following way. You can use all or none of your negative votes. However, you cannot cherry pick the point values. If you only use one, it will be the -5 value, if you use two, it will be the -5 and -4 value, etc. etc.

And I also think we are going to see some "surprising" results this year. I'll say no more.

Thanks for letting me know! Now I feel bad since I just saw her in concert this past Sunday and she was the focus of the show. I've fixed it to Takahashi Ayane

This is covered in the OP, but no, if you only give one negative, that has to be -5, if you give two members negatives, it has to be -5 and -4, and so on. In part, this is to encourage people to use (or not use) their negatives wisely. Many things could have happened in 2016 that caused someone to dislike a certain member, and we want the negative values to reflect that. However, do you dislike that member enough to give them a -5? That's every person's own prerogative to decide. Personally, I've used negative votes in some years, none in some other years.

As for a ranker, I'm looking for one too. I'm sure one exists with the current members, we just need someone to point us in the right direction.

Nogi 3rd gen Kubo Shiori is also wrong. (Shiroi)

This is the up to date one but a big problem is that it's too up to date.
Graduates and announced are all removed.

That one was my bad. I take responsibility for that typo since I got all of the AKB48 Members names (Along with JKT48, Nogizaka46, and Keyakizaka46)

@ithebigc Just being a bit anal here, but the year for the end of the voting period says 2016 instead of 2017.

Umeda Ayaka is also missing from the list of NMB grads.

I saw that Yamamoto Ayaka of NMB48 is listed two times, one time under Team N and one time under Kenkyuusei.

    First time voting for this.

It'll be fun to see how Keyaki does, as well as a lot of grads - last time votes?

I'd say I'm definitely surprised by who I excluded in my final vote. That said, I gave myself a criteria of effort given and things achieved in 2016, with a dash of oshi bias (as opposed to purely) of course.

Already sent mine (well a couple of hours ago lol).

For the first time, I decided to give negative votes.
