Even if it has no original meaning in japanese culture, they should know what it means worldwide, so an official apology was the right thing to do like it was done in the Keyaki nazi-costume issue.

However, IF they knew the meaning, everybody involved is wrong: (and I think they knew it tbh)
1. Rikachan herself, she must've known that it was a "grey" thing to do and avoided it.
2. Staff. Who takes the photos anyway? If it's staff, they also shouldn't have allowed this photo went out. If it's by fans' camera, staff must have intercepted as well.
3. And mostly the "fan" who requested the pose, but

Someone who went there intending to take such a picture to post it later (I doubt it was posted by someone else), is with no doubt some anti wanting to defame her. The same kind of person who practices "empty sales" to mess up her HS.

All I will tell you guys is... Rika did NOTHING wrong to that "trainer" on the show. He DESERVED it.

That guy kick a lot of wrestlers in the nuts before in his career. It's called Karma.

 

I didn't comment anything regarding the apology. It was in the context of how much Rika knew about that pose. Does she know it's exactly vulgar? Or is it she only knows it's something bad but not sure what it is?
Which brings me to the "fan". If that fan is an anti and knew of the consequences, he is really something to spend 2000 yen on album (excluding travel fee and time) to do this , and knowing that there's a (high?) chance the girl / staff watching won't approve it. I feel that there are factors that make that fan think he has a good success rate. Maybe 1 of the factor is indeed many Japanese don't know that well of the appropriateness of that pose in various situations.

 

^ Yeah, that's why I put it under the "IF-clause". In the most naive case, nobody knew that it would be a problem and the image ended up in hands of an anti who used it in a bad way. In the worst case, an anti got there intending to get anything to defame her (about costs and time, probably he/she was there to see other girls as well, not only her). Antis (or whoever is not a fan) have done much worse with less probability of success (Iwate?) But we'll never know the truth. If we had the whole picture, maybe we would get a hint.

 

Well, it's not the first time something like this happens. Ex-SKE48 Furukawa Airi also had the exact same problem. At a 2-shot event, a fan and Airin took a picture showing the middle finger and that caused her some trouble.

I thought these photo events already had rules regarding what poses a fan can request. I know that everyone ignores them anyway, but how about limiting the choice to a set of osusume poses decided by the members, before starting the session?
One more suggestion: I always see members like Gatanee and Ogiyuka bring in a bunch of cosplay and gadgets to their table (seriously, just looking at their photos on Twitter is a joy). This somehow "forces" fans to play along with the members and stick to the fantasy situation that they have set up beforehand, instead of letting fans push their own personal requests. I'm not asking Rika to copy their same style, but for a fisher she often seems to come under-prepared to these events, so much she becomes subservient to fan's whims. Taking a lesson from them and learning how to keep control over the situation while keeping things playful wouldn't hurt.

@Chanandler Macho-kun was a cool guy, despite all appearances. Also a bona fide SKE wota. Let's not talk bad about him.

 

Wow, bad publicity sure works better than good ones. I'll give you guyz some more air to discuss this issue before I'm back with the updates!

Yeah, it's like usually asking basketball players how they feel about throwing away the game with a 20 point lead. (insert rikahime meme)

 

Make photo events even more restrictive than they already are, that'll help sales. Shamekai are already way way more restrictive than they were pre-2014, there's a whole table between members and fans rather than being right next to them and more poses are banned. Also some members will always default to "haato" pose if it's left up to them to chose poses.

 

Well, you can't keep everything unregulated just for the sake of money, in the long run it's going to do more harm than good.

Limiting the choices to a list of poses approved by the member isn't as bad as it sounds, IF the member can be creative and varied about it. For a real example, take a look at the douga-kai they are having right now. The set of phrases is limited to a dozen that you can choose from a sheet of paper, but fans are still satisfied to spend their tickets on it and keep coming back. While the member have to follow the script's guidelines, they can still adlib it as they wish, which adds to the fun. But in all of these instances they are doing it indipendently and at their own discretion rather than to comply with the customer's demands, and this is key.

What I want is for the members to exercise some creative control over the event, however subtle and invisible it may be, instead of having fans dictate it (with regrettable results). It's THEIR lane and they are there to display THEIR character, after all.
Not all members have the willpower to do it, I can't deny it, but it's an important point if you claim yourself to be a fisher and believe you have wotas in the palm of your hand, or else you'll just become the fans' plaything if you give in to them too much.

On a side note, I also don't see how the table has made these events any more restrictive. Everyone is still doing the same poses that they did back when the shame-kai started. On the contrary, I believe it expanded the variety of poses and situations thanks to the new gadgets at their disposal (whether they use them or not, it only depends on the member's initiative, some even bring along their own). Not to mention that I still see members standing up/leaning across the table/patting the occasional girl wota, despite it supposedly being against the regulations. The table limited these events much less than it would make you think.

That's great! Given the last year's activities, it would be awkward if she wasn't here.
"Hard work will be always rewarded." Is it false? I think not. But I also think many people doesn't know the real meaning of "hard work" in 48G. It doesn't just mean to spend hours and hours training dance or singing. Sure these efforts are important but it's no use to just do the same thing that everyone else do. 300+ girls already do the same thing. You must be creative, innovative, must have a differential to be noticed my fans and management. And I believed that this is Rikachan's biggest qualitiy: to have an unique personality that hadn't been seen in the past few years in the group. Of course, one must show results, and I think this below is one of the many reasons that ensures her appearance in this poster. Let's just hope she can do well in this year's election.
