Cherprang said she passed audition for a film but the Japanese side rejected the deal and the said film was rumored to be Manta Ray by Nawapol for GDH. If true, this is a very bad decision, the previous film Nawapol directed for GDH, Freelance, was a mega success both artistically and economically. But, since the lead female role ended up going to Aokbab, it's hard to believe Aokbab was the substitution for Cherprang as she was more popular. Another theory was Cherprang was casted for a supporting role. I suppose the "Japanese side" referred to Yoshinari Natsuko/Terada Kihiro, Japanese member(s) of BNK48 Office's board and not AKS. Anyway, as the 2 also are executives of AKS, this is yet another hint how manipulative the licensor is to the licensee.

Those are not simply the cost for initial set up. The agency chooses to rent and outsource as much as possible to lessen the risk thus, the expense will keep running high.

A fan calculated that the cost of theater, BNK app and wage must cost over 3 millions monthly, the office and dorm likely also were rented, meaning the fixed cost alone was over 40 millions yearly.

I doubt if AKS just collecting license fee or sharing the income/profit. AKS is not simply licensor but a main shareholder holding 15% of stocks.

The cost to set up the theater is not that high, likely not more than 10 millions but, the rent+operating fees though. Definitely, over 70% of the operating cost went elsewhere.

Again, it's your personal opinion if I exaggerated and, you failed to realize you took your opinion as absolute fact.

Do you even follow entertainment news in general at all? Don't you know what kind of entertainment news sells? Universally, it's scandal. Yes. I love scandal but also the majority of world population. You suggested you frequented BNK48 section in Pantip, you should have noticed what kind of threads bring about hot discussions. Definitely, not thread like "Cherprang graduates with cum laude" or "Orn nominated Best Supporting Actress in Golden Swan Awards". Humans always are more interested in the negativity of others but the opposite for their biases. Do you think why Bunshun sells so well? Apparently, I have posted quite a number of neutral and positive news/infos on BNK but you only remember negative ones.

You totally disregarded that the agency needed to invest more and more into BNK. If the turnover this year end in loss, the agency will have to use to profit from last year to cover debts.

Have you heard/seen Mr. Jirath said about long-term plan, anything that longer than few years?

You follow BNK closely but not know the plan for this year is 2 singles + 1 album and 4 films/dramas? Are you aware how costly film or drama production is? It doesn’t matter how heavily RAM invests into non-music department in comparison to AKB but to its own music department.

I see no fan concerns with the agency producing online/tv shows and films but issues are

    1) The agency prioritizes this business over music

    2) Those contents are not mass enough/catering to wrong niche markets.

    3) These non-music activities will promote individual members but not necessarily the group.

At the end of the day, “idols” have to sell their music and performance. Mr. Jirath’s “don’t focus on music” has been slammed countless times. I can’t believe you used it to defend your argument. In a recent episode of AKBingo, Oya, Kashiwagi and Moeka discussed that their dream for AKB was to again perform in Tokyo dome and, to reach that dream, they must work hard on their stage performance (and created better teamwork). Why was their goal “perform in Tokyo Dome” and not “shake hands in …”? Because, to them, “idol’ still first and foremost music performer. And, why did they say they would work hard on their stage performance and not shake hand or live stream Showroom better? AKB’s members have concerned over the decline of the group and many think they need to upgrade their performance to rise again but, you believe BNK should focus on selling only character and all wota catering gimmicks?

A film can make the group popular only when the film gets popular and among the right group. Out of all films and dramas announced only “Thaibaan” and “Bad Genius” seem to have potential to be popular. But, it’s questionable if fans of Thaibaan are potential supporters of BNK and “Bad Genius” is GDH’s project, not BNK office. And, don’t forget the cost each project might cost.

If you even remotest follow J ent, you must know Hashimoto Kanna. Do you know she was a member of an idol group DVL? Obviously, her acting success didn’t translate to the popularity of the group she belonged to. Also, despite massive popularity of “In Family We Trust (เลือดข้นคนจาง)”, 9x9 was not very well-known. In the end idol group needs music activities to be popular as team and not just a collection of well-known/popular actors/actresses.

Where did I say BNK should follow Sweat’s step? It’s BNK’s wota saying Sweat going “jika” direction and I have seen Sweat’s agency made no zealous effort to push the group to mainstream.

Is Twice a J-pop group after its regular activities in Japan? Will it ever be fair to judge Twice’s Japanese sale on the same standard to Keyaki or E-Girls? However SY51 is active in the metropolitan area, it is a Chiangmai based group, its investment and production crew are from Chiangmai and members spend most of their time in Chiangmai.

BNK got big purely because of KFC. Every things coming after just reserved the popularity and no one has checked them out without KFC. Without KFC, BNK might fall into a similar situation to DVL, being irrelevant despite Cherprang’s popularity from Homestay.

You said no idol but BNK got mainstream ‘coz “idol” wasn’t mainstream but, Black Pink was mainstream. I saw Thai famous celebs covered the “Kill This Love” routine. However global it was was irrelevant ‘coz we discussed over “local” popularity. Not like most Thais knew Black Pink had North America Tour and signed with Interscoope. Neither every single artist popular in USA got popular in Thailand. However many songs they have released, Black Pink’s earning mainly came from performance gigs and concert tickets so, yes, they sold music performance. Your saying “Black Pink selling personality” even further solidified my point that Black Pink was “idol” and became mainstream “in Thailand” as such thus, being idol did not confine any group to niche market. Actually, the majority of the Thai does not care about idol tag and just enjoy any female idol group as “girl group”. As long as a group can release a massively popular song, it can become mainstream regardless of its marketing format.

Do you think why 48 brand is declining in Japan? Because the public sees them as a group of subpar performance. 48 has been ridiculed even by the Japanese of J-pop standard. Morning Musume can still alive because of its performance skill level and skill is the core reason of Momoiro Clover’s longevity and eventually outrun AKB. Still, you insist “skill” is irrelevant to longevity?

NMB has over 40 members + trainees and always delivers. Your number excuse is so lame. The agency just needs a new system so lame undertrained members/trainees will be hidden from the public and only presented to wotas, limiting them to theater and online platforms.

Are BNK’s fans insiders and more knowledgeable of music industry than GMM’s executives? According to its yearly report, in 2018, GMM earned 1,700 million from music business (30% growth to 2017) and 1,900 million from concert business (20% growth to 2017).Also, an executive of music business of GMM said in an interview that GMM would turn back to its root prioritizing music business. This is GMM’s alone and the whole music market must be over 3x bigger. Just because no one buying CD anymore doesn’t mean the music market is dead. The physical market is dying all over the world and some famous American artists stop releasing CD yet, it doesn’t mean USA’s music market is dying but transitioning to digital and concert. Its value still is far above Japanese one.

How many Thai films gross over 20 millions each year? What is the value of overall Thai film industry? GDH is the highest earning film studio of the country but, how much did it make last year? What about the second highest Sahamongkol Films? You knew the sale of Bad Genius in China but do you know how much was the license fee sold to Chinese distributor? Do you know Chinese govt has limited the number of foreign films and “Bad Genius” was the sole Thai film to be shown nationwide in Chinese theaters in years?Thai dramas affiliate to TV industry and irrelevant to film one. Neither I ever said TV industry was smaller and actually was the biggest industry in entertainment sector some times bigger than music.

That’s the problem, BNK can yet release a strong follow-up to solidify the group’s popularity thus, its longevity is in jeopardy. None of Getsunova’s songs is as popular as “How Far Is Near” yet some other songs of the group were decently popular thus, the group is enjoying a sustainable popularity.

Never I said BNK must restrict itself to music business but the opposite. I support the idea to grow out to other entertainment industries but, music must be the priority and the budget on non-music activities should be limited. Now, apparently, the agency is using the money earned through musical popularity haphazardly. If it isn’t careful, it may repeat the mistake of GMM, whose TV business lead the corporation into chronic red. If you follow K-pop scene, you can also see 2 of its leaders, S.M. and YG venture into TV business but no substantial success (even embarrassingly deficit in the case of YG) and still need to rely on music.

Sorry I lost concentration to read further.

Is this going to be done through DMM.com or is BNK using a different service?

What're you talking about? Manta Ray? lead female role ended up going to Aokbab? (from Bad Genius? the first Thai actress to win the Screen International Rising Star Asia Award in New York Asian Film Festival.)

I think we had discussed it before but anyway……. AKB48 is 13 years old of idol group. Is AKB48 delivering subpar performance for the entirety of their 13 years old or they used to deliver good performance and then the level are declining leading to the declining of popularity?

Edit: The way you describe AKB48 in their declining state is just like AKB48 is a failed group and never took off. Even AKB48 disbanded tomorrow, they had achieve everything. Right now, you cannot say that you're expert of female idol history in Japan if you don't put AKB48 on the table. Sometime, you does not need to have higher longevity to leave a mark on female idol history in Japan. Just look Onyanko Club.

    Updates
Cherprang's acting debut film, Homestay, will be commercially showed nationwide in Japan in early October.

The filming of June's "Bad Genius" is starting and the praying ceremony was performed today (June 30).
For this drama, June had to
    - lost 3 kilo
    - practiced left-hand writing
    - practiced piano.

RAM to launch BNK48 Vending Machine.
These are merches sold via the machine.
The machines are installed in 7 subway stations.

RAM has reveal the album cover and costume design for Jabaja

กระเบนราหู is "manta ray" in English. I believe Nawapol's film is yet to have official English title (but its Thai title already redundant to that film winning a big award in Venice Film Festival.) Nawapol's "Manta Ray" is set to hit the theater near the end of this year. Fans speculated she might be cast for the role of lead male's sister.

Lol. Its agency and its members clearly are dissatisfied with how AKB is going right now. That is "successful" for you, huh?

Those vending machines look very cool. I hope somebody will take a picture of one and post it here once they're installed. I want that Beginner mask but the concert DVD seems like a weird thing to buy from a vending machine lol.

Like I said, AKB48 had achieved so much that:
    1. You cannot talked about the history of female idol in Japan if you do not put AKB48 on the table.
    2. During their heyday, they rule JPop world just like SNSD rule KPop world.
    3. The AKB48 had spanned sister group, rival group and international sister group including BNK48. If AKB48 is not successful, there is no BNK48 in the first place.
    4. It is an open secret that Produce101, the phenomenal show that lead to survival show frenzy, spanning show like MixNine and The Unit (although we may argue that those shows are flopping) is being influenced by AKB48 general election.
    5. Amachan (The popular asadora in Japan in 2013. There are many articles talked about the social phenomenon due to that show), the asadora which revolve around the history of idol in Japan have many AKB48 references all over it.
That pretty much successful for me. Regardless of what happened now, it will not nullify that. We may argue that there are dissatisfaction there and there right now and need improvement, but that is different matter. It will not nullify whatever AKB48 had done and achieved for the past 13 years.

Edit: You actually do not answer my question. Are you well aware of the state of AKB48 pre"supposed decline"? When you put the time when AKB48 started to decline? 1 year ago? 2 years ago? 3 years ago?....... What is the turning point of the decline?

They are 2 hot topics these few days

    1) Beginner mask was different from the poster.
Beginner mask is a product sold via vending machine and fans were fumed that the actual product looked too different from the poster, one even filed complaint to Office of Consumer Protection.

Neolution, the company operating the vending machine and the initial prime lashing target, excused that it just placed the product received from BNK48 Office into the vending machine. Also, via its Facebook page, Neolution announced the mask buyer could get refund at Digital Live Studio from 3th - 5th July. Buyers still are angry as they have to travel to Digital Live Studio to get refund and the office/distributor should be accountable for the cost of refund (delivery cost or offer the buyer a freebie).

BNK48 Office, the next lashing target, explained the design had changed for better function but, due to communication mistake, the customer was misinformed. Also, the office announced an apology and described the refund (just like one Neolution had announced) and changed the poster with the right photo of mask displayed instead the wrong one.
    https://f.ptcdn.info/784/064/000/pu03f9jk88de8m64f2G-o.jpg

Disappointed fans discussed the price already was so so high for the mask in previous poster, how the agency dared to sell such mask for ฿150, the agency again sold pricey product in low quality and the customer care had never improved, fans kept being discouraged to buy any product.

    2) BNK48 being de-idolized?
It has been much discussed that the vibe of BNK48 is being distant from idol. Some said the agency prioritizing acting business gave the feeling of a typical acting agency thus they felt members were less and less idol but generic celebs. Some said members did less and less idol activities as they were caught with non-idol ones.
    Here are some arguments
    - BNK performs in the theater less and less.
    - The idol market has reached its peak so, BNK has to transition into a bigger market to grow. This is the price they have to pay for the transition.
    - Top J idols also are busy with outside jobs, for example Sasshi spent more time for outside jobs than HKT.
    - What is this "less idol activities" bullshit? What are "idol activities"? BNK still holds handshake monthly, streams from fish tank weekly. Members still do live streaming via the BNK app. They are also roadshow, 2-shot event, sport festival etc.
    - Perhaps, fans feel this way because BNK has a regular variety show no more. After the Youtube variety show with The Ska kicked off, it may get better.
    - As BNK has more and more fans, more restrictions are inevitable. BNK is naturally more distant to fans. The distance possibly is a reason why fans feel that way.
    - BNK now is the monopoly in the niche idol market but gearing toward the mass acting market. That market is much bigger yet much more competitive and BNK is at disadvantage in term of connection and reputation within TV industry. BNK's acting business now is heavily reliant on its idol's fans as evident from the sale of Where We Belong being hard carried by fans. However, fans' dissatisfaction means the office has failed to preserve its idol market.
    - Idol is meant to be a stepping stone into showbiz for members and the office is making itself a stronger stepping stone to members. Fans should be happy that members get more acting jobs.
    - It should be a limit on non-idol activities so that members have adequate time for training/theater.
    - Idol sells her character and acting or endorsement can't show this. The office fails to bring members' characters out for fans to see thus, fans feel less engage to members as idols.

Rumor has it that it will be a surprising announcement at the Jabaja launching event on July 5.

I talk about now and not the past.
Are you aware of the board shuffle of AKS? No company changes most of its executives if the business is going well. If you look into the detail, AKS also is changing the direction of its business.

It's funny when you expect 13 year-old business has still been the same as the past. They have changed its direction every years. Meh.

AKB is still nowhere near disbanding. And what you can do is to deny what AKB Group has contributed to Japanese idol world. It's not your business. I can see your favourite Kpop girlgroup like BP or TWICE disband in near future, but AKB will still survive. That's it.

Can I ask BNK48 fans? Is this concern about BNK48 being de-idolized is a big thing among fan because doing something outside typical idol activities is something common in AKB48. Even some members cemented themselves as top AKB48 by having solo, outside, non-idol related activities like Sashi and Paruru. I think some had argued for some members of AKB48 to be popular they must have individual agencies doing individual activities. There are talks about how some top AKB48 have lower theatre performance because they are busy with outside activities but I don’t think people talk about AKB48 or particular member being de-idolize or far away from their idoling root. Hence, I think BNK48 management pretty much doing something in line with AKB48 core business.

Yes I am well aware that you are talking about now and not the past but the way you talked about the state of AKB48 right now is like AKB48 is doing nothing in the past.

The way you responding with my by statement is just lumping more and more thing happened in AKB48 right now and not seeing the big picture neglecting about the progression and development of AKB48 in the past.

Until now you do not answer my question what is the time when AKB48 started to decline? What is the turning point?

Yes, we may argue about the state of AKB48 right now, the way to improve, the way to move forward or whatever but it never nullifies what AKB48 had achieved in the past.

About beginner mask, I think it is right for them to be angry about it especially with the price given. Now about being de-idolized, is that really a bad thing? I mean since idol market is a bit too niche wouldn't it be better to jump into mainstream market when the demand for them are still high? Especially since idol are seen as a stepping stone there's nothing wrong by joining BNK just to get their name out there. While for reality show idk how it is in Thai but looking at MNL & JKT only having online variety show so that's maybe the pattern in SEA? Although I have to agree on Theater schedule though, there aren't any show listed for this month and there's only 7 performances last month. They have 50-ish (?) members and not all of them could've been that busy to perform at the theater  or maybe they'll announce new setlist for both BIII and NIII/Trainee and to focus for the preparation they decided not to do any show this month.
