I mean, yes Sustainable was/is the better song - certainly AKB's best single in a very long time. . . but at least Keyakizaka didn't bloody win, so I'll take it. And they did get the best new artist award right with Beyooooonds at least.
Unfortunately, these awards don't directly translate to the best song (it is obvious from this year's result). And it is difficult to judge the quality of a song, since genre differs and everyone has their own tastes. Right, Sustainable is the AKB-type song and is a big upgrade considering the fact that we had to deal with songs like Jabaja and Teacher Teacher last year.
I was a little surprised that Paprika song won...it was released a long time ago. I wouldn't have thought it would qualify? But I guess it does lol. It's really no surprise AKB didn't win. Nor Nogi. Keya was a good contender tho imo. Low-key kind of happy for Beyooooonds even tho they have the most ridiculous H!P name ever lol.
oh man I totally forgot that shit show that year lol. That was some grade A bullshit on JRA. Even to this day KFC gets mentioned; it was that motherfucker lol
Well, at least I'd rather have the syllables of Paprika repeating in my head than Unyanyanyanya. No really though, they don't compare. Paprika is much more relatable than the NyaaKB song. I mean, the former is childhood-centric while the latter is idol-centric, so Paprika is more impactful than NyaaKB and did the NyaaKB catches on more than Paprika? I don't think so... NyaaKB was totally not robbed. The Paprika song that was released this year would be Kenshi Yonezu's release and not Foorin's. Or Foorin Team E 4 weeks ago, if that counts. Was it Foorin who collected the award though? What is the criteria for winning the Japan Record Award though? To me, Paprika is the all-rounder song; good music, good lyrics, good concept that can easily appeal to all ages, and then add enermous tie-in of Olympics, Kenshi Yonezu & children performers hype, the exposure, publicity & gimmick is so great that the song is really impactful throughout Japan, it really catches on. So in comparison to other songs, the impact of Paprika is the best one out there. Plus, other than Foorin & its Olympics tie-in, Kenshi Yonezu dropped a great MV of Paprika. Personally, I find it great, what's with its double-meaning visual, Kenshi Yonezu's great vocals & the catchiness of Paprika itself. Objectively speaking, Paprika as a song on its own would have lost... Paprika as a song on its own (while I want to say that the quality of lyrics, composition/arrangement really fits with the hype, I don't think I'm qualified enough to objectively analyse it as such) wouldn't go this far in its impact. But really though, even with the Olympics gimmick and all, it is still the song that catches on. At least it isn't as flimsy/silly a song as the Pineapple Apple song (both are catchy, true). Paprika is actually a good song. And it would have been way more questionable if it was Sustainable that won the award.
Actually I haven't heard synchronicity even once maybe I had, just didn't notice it at all. (Nor fukyuwaon in that respect) I mean, come on...da pump's USA and KoiChun didn't win in their respective year. What do you even hoping for
JRA winner since 2008... Anyway, one of the biggest Japanese song this year is HigeDAN's "Pretender" which curiously didn't get nominated. I'm pretty sure if Pretender got the nomination and it didn't win against Paprika, there will be more fuss. As it is right now, Paprika is a much obvious choice against the other nominated song, basically other nominated songs aren't even close to it. also HigeDAN is not with Sony
In my opinion, the AKB songs that deserved to win were Hebirote (but Beginner was their rep song that year), Furage (it won, very much deserved), and KFC (they were robbed that year). Maybe 365 if eligible for nomination? This year, no 48G nor 46G song really became a hit.

The shutters drop for the last time tonight at the AKB48 Cafe and Shop : if the video does not show watch the video here (Video credit to uploader; link from J-Pop Project News)
It's kinda ironic, I'm putting the finishing touches on the AKB Cafe and Shop on my train layout, well, at least I got to visit it once (and it will live on my layout) (and yes, I need pink paint for the entrance section ) Well, I've heard of it because it featured in UTAGE (Utagazaki47(?) and Miichan was in that)
OMG Never had a chance to go. https://jshowbiz.com/english/news/akb48/item/7824-akb48-cafe-closes-doors.html
I don't know why people pay attention to that meaningless garbage award let alone make a big fuss over it.
Someone seemed to have a bad mood?? you almost wonder if anyone made it out of the elevator alive source: https://twitter.com/iriyamaanna1203/status/1212360174112952321
I was bored today and decided to see how the AKB48 Teams would like if the members stayed in their original promoted team (i.e. Minegashi Minami in Team A and Transfers happenings). Also, the seniority of members are also taken into account. Spoiler: Team A Minegashi Minami (1st Generation) Oya Shizuka (4th Generation) Miyazaki Miho (5th Generation Izuta Rina (10th Generation) Taniguchi Megu (15th Generation) Ichikawa Manami (15th Generation) Tatsuya Makiho (15th Generation) Takita Kayoko (Draft 1)) Yamane Suzuha (16th Generation) Maeda Ayaka (16th Generation) Taguchi Manaka (16th Generation Sato Minami (16th Generation) Michieda Saki (16th Generation) Suzuki Kurumi (16th Generation) Honda Sora (Draft 3) Furukawa Nazuna (Draft 3) Spoiler: Team K Yokoyama Yui (9th Generation) Muto Tomu (12th Generation) Yumoto Ami (15th Generation) Shimoguchi Hinana (Draft 1) Kubo Satone (Draft 2) Muto Orin (16th Generation) Nagamoto Ayumi (16th Generation) Yasuda Kana (16th Generation) Okada Rina (Draft 3) Yahagi Moeka (Draft 3) Kobayashi Ran (Draft 3) Nagano Megumi (Draft 3) Suenaga Yuzuki (Draft 3) Spoiler: Team B Kashiwagi Yuki (3rd Generation) Fukuoka Seina (15th Generation) Kawamoto Saya (Draft 1) Yamabe Ayu (Draft 2) Nishikawa Rei (Draft 2) Omori Maho (Draft 3) Otaki Hitomi (Draft 3) Saito Haruna (Draft 3) Spoiler: Team 4 Oba Mina (9th Generation) Yamauchi Suzuran (9th Generation) Iriyama Anna (10th Generation) Kato Rena (10th Generation) Sasaki Yukari (12th Generation) Omori Miyuu (12th Generation) Iwatate Saho (13th Generation) Shinozaki Ayana (13th Generation) Mogi Shinobu (13th Generation) Kitazawa Saki (13th Generation) Muruyama Yuiri (13th Generation) Okada Nana (14th Generation) Mukaichi Mion (15th Generation) Komiyama Haruka (15th Generation) Sato Kiara (15th Generation) Chiba Erii (Draft 2) Inagaki Kaori (16th Generation) Asai Nanami (16th Generation) Kurosu Haruka (16th Generation) Yamauchi Mizuki (16th Generation) Honma Mai (16th Generation) Yoshihashi Yuzuka (Draft 3) Tada Kyoka (Draft 3) Kuramoto Miyuu (Draft 3) Ishiwata Sena (Draft 3) Though I know Shuffles are meant to shake up the teams and keep them fresh (cough cough the AKB48 "Team B" revival of Tadaima Renaichu in 2015...), having a system like this would still be good. I could see Team 4 being the big "family" of AKB48 and Team B consist of Yukirin stealing the youth leading her teammates can be a cute dynamic!
