Since it's taking a while for 56th single to be announced, I've been thinking about it, and here's my wish and prediction for AKB's 56th single senbatsu!

    21-members senbatsu - 13 AKB members + 8 sister groups members

AKB48: Miion, Yuihan, Moeka, Yukirin, Naachan, Renacchi, Annin, Mizuki, Satopii
Team 8: Yuiyui, Rinrin, Miu, Nagisa
    SKE48: Jurina, Suda
    NMB48: Mirurun
    HKT48: Miku, Hana
    NGT48: /
    STU48: Yumirin, Chiho, Hina

I know it's mostly safe and expected choices, but the main points are:

    • I don't want big senbatsu anymore since I think management needs to focus on building a new image for AKB with specific girls and it would work much better if these girls aren't lost in between 30 other faces. They need to promote the individuality of members more. 16 to 21 members senbatsu is ideal.
    • For AKB, I hope management bring Renacchi back to senbatsu. I explained it in her thread, but her exclusion in the past year makes no sense, she's popular, she's pretty, she performs fine. and I really do think AKB needs to appear prettier/cuter to gain more fans so management shouldn't waste the few pretty members they have. For the rest, I guess Annin will be back to senbatsu if she is ready, so I included her. I also included Satopii, imo she's really cute and management should give her more chances and see how it goes! Lastly I included Mizuki mostly because she seems to be a regular senbatsu now, so it's more of a prediction, though personally I don't notice her much (yet).
    • For SKE, they've had 3 members in AKB senbatsu in recent singles but the 3rd girl, Sugawara Maya, went on hiatus from what I read. it's kinda weird to go on hiatus right when she is pushed, and I found her quite cute, but well. I think SKE should stay at 2 members then, I don't see another girl who should be added (since Yunana graduated ._.)
    • For NMB, I know 1 member only is unfair compared to other groups but I can't think of another member, Akarin is popular but I feel like she doesn't suit AKB senbatsu. Same for Yuuri, she is charismatic, I think she would suit better as first row of NMB than at the back of AKB.
    • For HKT, I just put the expected and obvious choices, I think it should stay at 2 maximum and I know management will pick these 2.
    • For NGT, now that they're all back to being KKS and with the scandal, I really really hope management is smart enough not to include any of them in AKB senbatsu. it would just ruin the single, promotion and everything... it's the last thing AKB needs and they don't deserve this.
    • Lastly for STU, I put 3 members, I know it's a lot but I personally think this group lacks the push in AKB and it has always been just 1 member so for this time I wish they push more of them. Yumirin is the usual choice and ace so she will be in, then Chiho because of her great HS sales and she is quite cute, and lastly Hina, this choice is for specific reasons. I think Hina looks like Nanase of Nogi and it might be a good move from AKB to push her in senbatsu so maybe people might take notice and become her fan and support AKB as well. Nanase was very popular as idol and she graduated recently. so yes I think this would be a good timing to show Hina to the public and maybe grab some fans for the group.

and this is it! I think this would be the ideal senbatsu for AKB and I wish management would focus on these girls for now (and for a while). As for who would be center in this, I think Yuiyui would be a good choice. and for the type of song, I think something fresh like Labrador Retriever would be good, or something very "idol" like Kibouteki Refrain would be perfect. Hopefully nothing like the 2018 a-sides (they weren't good to me).

If I was management here is what I would do.

    Senbatsu
Team A: Yokoyama Yui, Mukaichi Mion, Iriyama Anna
Team K: Yahagi Moeka, Muto Tomu
Team B: Kashiwagi Yuki, Fukuoka Seina, Iwatate Saho
Team 4: Okada Nana, Yamaguchi Mizuki
Team 8: Okabe Rin, Oguri Yui, Sakaguchi Nagisa
    SKE: Matsui Jurina, Nojima Kano
    NMB: Shiroma Miru, Ota Yuuri
    HKT: Tanaka Miku
    NGT: Homma Hinata
    STU: Takino Yumiko, Ishida Chiho

I think this year is the perfect opportunity to try and reduce the presence of sister groups in AKB singles. You could cut the second people from the sisters groups but I think this reduced number works just as well. I think all the choices make sense. I have to add Saho in because I can't believe she has never been in an A-side. Kano might seem like a weird choice but she won the singing contest and is on the younger side and SKE need a new younger push. I'm going the extreme route of air dropping her here. I wouldn't have her in any AKB again unless she rises to that second place but I like it when management add someone unexpected. STU still need promotion so they can have two people. I'm not sure Miru is enough to represent her group alone, in the same way Miku and Hinata do. So that's why NMB get a second spot. Yuiyui should get another center. I did have a debate with myself. I think it might be too soon for Moeka or Mizuki to take the center. Mion gets passed over due to being the new GM. So it's between Yuiyui and Naachan. I gave it to Yuiyui but Naachan would be good too. Maybe whoever fitted the song better.

    Undergirls
Team A: Kato Rena, Goto Moe, Miyazaki Miho
Team K: Komiyama Haruka, Minegishi Minami, Mogi Shinobu
Team B: Taniguchi Megu, Kubo Satone, Hiwatashi Yui
Team 4: Omori Miyu, Murayama Yuiri, Asai Nanami
Team 8: Shitao Miu, Terada Misaki, Takahasi Ayane, Gyoten Yurina

Not going to lie, I would give undergirls the better song because I'm more interested in this lineup. I think I would give Megu the center.

    Team Songs
    Team A Center: Yamane Suzuha
    Team K Center: Yasuda Kana
    Team B Center: Omori Maho
    Team 4 Center: Ingaki Kaori

    Theatre

    Team 8: Onishi Momoka Center

I don't see the point in giving popular girls centers in Team Songs every time. Outside of theatre songs, I think team songs should be the place where members can get their moment in the spotlight so 16th gen to the center.

Absolutely. However, I would not mind her not being in senbatsu if she gets undergirl solo center. She's been around for so long, at the top of her game, but still no solo center. wth? Please don't pull a Milky and have her in the next gen senbatsu and not be the center. That was so embarrassing for all involved.

Funny cause I thought of Akarin as being very AKB. I hope she's in though. She is NMB's highest ranking member.

I'm not sure about STU getting 3 spots cause Naachan is also STU. That would be 4?

Based on mana's prediction, what I would like to see is this:
AKB48: Miion, Yuihan, Moeka, Yukirin, Naachan, Renacchi, Annin, Mizuki, Satopii
Team 8: Yuiyui, Rinrin, Miu, Nagisa
    SKE48: Jurina, Suda
    NMB48: Mirurun, Akarin
    HKT48: Miku, Hana
    NGT48: /
    STU48: Yumirin, Chiho, Hina

Right now, JKT is holding a concert. I wonder whether they will announce the senbatsu for their original single, or not.

This is my dream senbatsu formation.

So I created an Idea of what an HKT concert would look like imo if they dropped the songs that have graduates in the front row (so no Sakura, Haruppi or Sasshi centers), making a setlist that celebrates the members that are still in the group.

    01. Makkana Umbrella (5th Gen.)
    02. Hatsukoi Butterfly (Original Members – Tashima M. Center)
    03. Suki! Suki! Skip! (1st + 2nd Gen. – Tashima M. Center)
    04. Onegai Valentine (1st + 2nd Gen. – Tashima M. Center)
    05. Romantic Byou (Tanaka M., Matsuoka H., Tashima M.)
    MC
    06. Onna no Ko Damon, Hashiranakya (Matsuoka H.)
    07. How About You? (Motomura A. Center)
    08. Namaiki Lips (Tanaka M., Toyonaga A.)
    09. Sakura, Minna de Tabeta (Senbatsu – Tashima M., Mizukami R. Center)
    10. Melon Juice (Senbatsu – Tashima M., Kamijima K. Center)
    11. Chain of Love (ALL)
    MC
    12. Kiss no Hanabira (Chou – Matsuoka N. and Moriyasu M. Center)
    13. Koi no Yubisaki (Team KIV – Moriyasu Madoka on keyboard)
    14. Soramimi Rock (Team TII – Matsuoka H. Center)
    15. Buddy (Team H – Kojina Y. Center)
    16. Daite Twintails (Blueberry Pie – Kojina Y., Kurihara S. Center)

Fantasy Booking for a joint Graduation Concert for Takayanagi Akane, Matsui Jurina, and Minegishi Minami featuring just the three of them in the event that the pandemic doesn't calm down between now and May 2021 enough to allow for individual graduation concerts. Preferably in a venue that could accommodate 500 fans. I did the calculation and 500 fans would be 20% capacity for a place with total capacity of 2,500 audience members which sounds relatively safe on paper as it allows a solid amount of separation between the lucky 500 fans, but is still probably wishful thinking rather than something that'd come true.

    Anyway, here's the Set-list:

    00: Overture (VTR Intro)
01: Oogoe Diamond (All Three) (Takayanagi Akane Center)
02: Aozora Kataomoi (All Three) (Minegishi Minami Center)
03: Must Be Now (All Three) (Matsui Jurina Center)
    MC
04: Seishun no Houseki (Takayanagi Akane)
05: Kimi ni Koi wo Shita (Minegishi Minami)
    06: Hana Uranai (Matsui Jurina)
    MC
07: Ishi (All Three) (Takayanagi Akane Center)
08: Kaze wo Matsu (All Three) (Minegishi Minami Center)
09: Sekai no Hito e (All Three) (Matsui Jurina Center)
10: Shitsuren, Arigatou (All Three) (Minegishi Minami Center)
    MC
11: Cross (All Three) (Matsui Jurina Center)
12: Glory Days (All Three) (Takayanagi Akane Center)
13: Dakishimeraretara (All Three) (Minegishi Minami Center)
    MC
14-18: Medly (Jealousy no Alibi -> Alive -> Escape -> Ruby -> Party is Over) (All Three) (No Fixed Center)
    MC
19: Yuuhi ga Miteiru Ka? (All Three) (Minegishi Minami Center)
20: Sougen no Kiseki (All Three) (Takayanagi Akane Center)
21: To Be Continued (All Three) (Matsui Jurina Center)
    MC
Encore: Sakura no Hanabiratachi (All Three) (No Fixed Center)

This is more like a discography shuffle but I was thinking of how AKS could’ve made a more organised discography of higher quality in recent years. Their discography hasn’t been well-received for awhile now, the last time the GP really took note of them was 365 Kamihikouki (2015) and the last time I remember a collective positive reaction of their single was Sustainable. AKS definitely have songs that are suited to the market (see 46) and I was just wondering if we could turn back time to the start of 2016 and incorporate Keyakizaka’s discography in AKB’s instead.

Spring’16: Kimi wa Melody (Miyawaki Sakura center)

Summer’16: Shibuyagawa (Mukaichi Mion center) replacing Tsubasa wa Iranai - at that time when akb was promoting TWI, fans hated on it knowing that they’re just trying to recreate the 365 hype. Keya on the other hand was getting so popular even with their B-sides, this one in particular. Since akb wanted to try a more acoustic sound, i think Shibuyagawa would fit.

SSK’16: Love Trip (Sashihara Rino center)

Autumn’16: Silent Majority (Shimazaki Haruka center) replacing High Tension. I love High Tension but I have been hoping for AKB to return to their seasonal sounds for awhile now. An autumn single that sounds more like the classic AKB autumn singles may have worked better. Paruru would be center by default as it’s her graduation single, this might not be a popular opinion but I think she would’ve suited SaiMajo well, kind of like her center in BwT.

Spring’17: Shoot Sign (Kojima Haruna center) I’m not a fan of this song, but I won’t change it considering this is Kojiharu’s grad song and it is very much her sound)

Summer’17: Sekai wa Ai Shita nai (Matsui Jurina + Miyawaki Sakura wcenter) replacing Negaigoto - Negaigoto was a nice change but I just wished they promoted this instead and then released Negaigoto as a special single

    SSK’17: Sukinanda (Sashihara Rino center)

Autumn’17: 11gastu no anklet (Watanabe Mayu center)

Spring’18: Fuyukawon (Okada Nana center) replacing Jabaja - Imagine Naachan centering THIS instead of Jabaja ! (I absolutely hated Jabaja, though I would probably listen to it more if it was a B-side) If Mayuyu graduated a little later, I would switch up this with their autumn single.

Summer’18: Futari Saison (Oguri Yui center) replacing Teacher Teacher - Teacher Teacher didn’t really have positive feedbacks and Futari Saison would have suited Yuiyui so well

SSK’18: Sentimental Train (Matsui Jurina center)

Autumn’18: Ambivalent (Miyawaki Sakura + Yabuki Nako + Honda Hitomi center)
replacing No Way Man - They have the same concept/sound, but the mixing in NWM was bad in my opinion, I wish they did Ambivalent

Spring’19: Jiwaru Days (Sashihara Rino center)

Summer’19: High Tension or some kind of cute summer song (Murayama Yuiri center) because that was honestly the perfect time to release a single with Yuiri center, now it is so long overdue

Filler for SSK: Sustainable (Yahagi Moeka center)

Autumn’19: Kaze no Fukarete mo (Okada Nana + Murayama Yuiri wcenter)

Spring’20: Sherbet Pink (Yamauchi Mizuki center) replacing Shitsuren Arigatou
I was so excited for a Zukki center only to become a Shitsuren Arigatou anti. On the other hand I absolutely adored Sherbet Pink and NGT was still getting a lot of hate when that came out so I believe they could’ve just postponed their single further and let AKB have this godly song. Zukki would be a perfect fit for this.

    Summer’20: Even When Apart
I honestly wouldn’t care who should be the center of this song because it was a nice message to everyone. I just think releasing as a single would have allowed this song to get much more attention + it would also have allowed space for the many new thriving members to at least get some B-sides
