I don't necessarily think it's any indication, but all of Team 8 went out for food together the other day. Honda Hitomi has been hanging out loads with them in the past two days, whereas she was too busy before.
I see. So Hii needed a graduation concert without ruining the party for Oden. What a sweet kid. You can expect to see many tears this day...
For Dobon of course, i always waiting to gatcha on Team's pack card Even though i never got what i want
I'd say their function/purpose was to have a representative in each prefecture. AKB is the "idols you can meet" group, but if you're living in Kumamoto (far west) or Hokkaido (island at the very north), this promise falls a bit short. Having a representative in each prefecture meant that the girls usually also got local work, such as radio stations or being ambassadors for certain events and such. It meant that every prefecture had one member that they could meet every now and then. Team 8 only just finished their 47 Cities tour a few weeks ago. I'd have to check to make sure, but considering the tour has been ongoing since 2014, I would imagine that they actually did visit every city. Someone's pointed out a while ago that the 'functions' are no longer in place, but I do think they all had a purpose, or at least a theme. I'd like them to bring back team themes. If not the original themes, then something new, or otherwise, there's no real point to have teams, from a fan's point of view. It splits the group up into smaller sections that are better sized for the theater, but there's really no reason why Team B can't perform Saishuu Bell ga Naru or why Team A can't do Pajama Drive etc. I quite liked the themes of each team. I imagine most forum readers will know, but just in case there are any silent/new lurkers; the themes (are) were as follows: Team A - all stars team Team K - strong, good dancers Team B - typical idols, very cute Team 4 - young and fresh members
the main reason teams were formed was to divide the group into 2-3 smaller groups, afterall they couldn't have 40 girls perform at the theater at one time. but by dividing the group by generations, they could perform at the theater each day, with different stages and thats what they did. and i feel like the "themes" or image for each team was more of a fan thing then akb mngm, and imo, they were a little forced and too focused on the front girls.
Except the teams were really formed way before there were 40 or so members. The goal was to be able to offer at least 1 performance each day. The concepts came with the Team K creation/ 2nd gen recruitment. In fact those girls recieved a lot of criticism such as not being cute enough to be idols.
So apart from perhaps Team A, the current teams all still fit those themes. No, not *every* member does, but then Kasai Tomomi was a Team K member, and original Team A was... well. That said, I think you'll find actual Team K members both new and old disagree with you about what Team K's theme was.
And you will find that Komi, Megumin, Odaeri go cry in the corner while the rest are rehearsing a dance-number song. (This is actually direct quote from Komi SR, btw)
my mistake, they were in fact 38. still, it was to divide the members by generation. and for team k members not being cute enough, well maybe the front girls but there were girls who were cute like Ono, Oku, Kasai, etc... again it's a fan made image not a mngm sanctioned one, that team k must be the sporty/cool one. if anything they were a diverse group of people just like team a.
Still boggles my mind that they picked Komi of all people as Team K captain. Odaeri at least has the cool image that the team is known for, though their real theme is Unity/Bonds. I think it's usually been more the glamour/fashion/pretty team (as opposed to B's cute and K's cool).
I think komi has intensity and drive that suits her as captain. She was never pushed as athletic but she is a passionate performer. I mean mion was chosen for soukantoku and komi seems more assertive than her. There's no way to replicate the 2nd gen. It was one of a kind. Komi and crew have to create their own image. Oden is passionate too, about singing and about being an idol. I remember her intro during the eSports day was all about team K. And remembering lovetans bday every 12/8 anniversary (nothing to do with team K, but she is a serious wota) So if anything team K is the team of passionate SCRAPers and BUILDing their new image. Well, she isn't. You should search out the few times 15th gen members have described the rest of their gen. That's great and all but it's still clearly what they were trying to do judging from every other member aside from the captain. Hence why I still find the choice so bizarre. (Not counting D3 here because that's a whole 'nother barrel of worms.) ... of unity and bonds (of friendship), as expressed in one of the Team K concerts and which they got from the original team.
In your guys opinion, who would not get selected if the shuffle rumor is true? I'm saying Honma Mai bc she was a kenkyuusei for 4 years!!! Idk her schedule throughout the years, but that's pretty damning
