Pretty much all the reviews of the English language versions of the games are like "how can this game be so popular in Japan? It's not very good at all!"

Yeah, the Monster Hunter games are not that great. I don't understand how its so popular in Japan. The only way to truly enjoy it is if you play online with friends...but seeing as its on the PSP, its nearly impossible to find anyone to play with.

Its funny though, most of the "monsters" are just dinosaurs. Then there's usually a few dragons thrown in for good measure.

The stupid thing is that in order to take down the big creatures, you need to team up with people, but its nearly impossible to play online with people on the PSP, so your technically screwed.

But anyway, I didn't enjoy the games that much, but that's just me.

On to other things, is anyone planning on playing the Warhammer MMORPG, Age of Reckoning when it comes out this fall?

    Pre-ordered the collectors edition myself.

I'm probably going to play a couple of characters; a Chaos character (probably a melee class, as that whats I usually play in MMO's) and an Ork of some kind.

    Thanks for the input guys.
At least in Japan it doesn't seem to be that much of a problem to find others to play with. All the large shops like Yodobashi have PlayStation Spots or other free wireless and even in the theater you can find people playing together.
But the reviews are putting me off somehow. After I read Mr. Waffle's post, I went over to Gamespot and checked their review and now I'm not so sure anymore. Plus, the game will most likely be entirely in Japanese - With lot's of specific terms that you probably don't learn in school...

From the sounds of it, it won't be bad or anything, you'll probably have a bit of fun playing it. I've enjoyed plenty of games that don't really fare well with reviewers...

Maybe I'll just buy a used copy of the first one and see whether I like it. If I don't, at least it was cheap (must be less than 1000 Yen by now).

Wow, they just announced Final Fantasy XIII for Xbox 360. I don't know if anyone cares, but I'm EXTREMELY surprised. A big blow for Sony, though I like both the PS3 and 360.

^ Wow, that is wild. I've seen previews for FF 13, so I'm not surprised it's announced for the 360 - though I have been a fan of Sony for as long as I can remember.

And on the topic of Final Fantasy, I'm replaying Final Fantasy 7 on my PS2. Pretty old school (about 11 years old), though it has heavily influenced my writing. B-)

Seeing as I have a strong dislike for hardcore sony fans, this news really makes my day.

Seeing as I have both a PS3 and a 360, I'm still trying to decide which system to get FFXIII for, though I'm leaning towards the 360 now, seeing as I do prefer it somewhat to the PS3.

^ Sadly though the 360 version will probably be on multiple discs, which can be a pain.

A Final Fantasy for the 360? Nice. I'm really bad at FF games, but I'll get it.

I've been playing RPG's for a while now, I'm use to it, you should be too...

    Xenogears - 2 discs
    Blue Dragon - 3 discs
    FF7 - 3 discs
Legend of Dragoon - 4 discs
    Lost Odyssey - 4 discs
    The list goes on...

At first I wasn't all too thrilled about FF13 cause I'm not a fan of the PS3 but now I am. I'm pretty ecstatic to hear this news. Can't wait.
