The blurb in that article says it will be aired on TV only up until episode 3 because after then the content of the battles will get more extreme and, according to the broadcasting station, "it would be hard to air it".
I would like to believe this is the only reason for it, but I'm just reminded of when King Records blocked the release of Beginner's full PV also because of "extreme content", replaced the PV in the DVD extra with a bland dance version and made the original one only available via digital distribution on Recochoku (at least at first). This seems to be a similar situation in terms of marketing, in that Hulu seems rather eager to have yet another exclusive to push their service on Japanese territory.

When it comes to the late night time slot, ratings don't matter at all in the decision to air a drama.
In any case, the ratings for Majisuka4 were overall the highest in the series, even beating the first season.

 

Pretty sure that Salt and Otabe will be the same one from MJ4. Sakura might be a bit tricky but possible to be the same. Jurina has too strong image of Center so it might feels really, really weird for her to play different character now (but would be even weirder if Center will come back to school again)

I do like the inclusion of Haruppi as a top characters btw.

 

I don't think this season will be in school, apparently it's a yakuza/mafia storyline. And Jurina already played a different role than Center, in Majisuka 3 (Nobunaga). And since Center became a nurse in Majisuka 4, I think that Jurina's role in Majisuka 5 will most likely be a new character.

Both Yamamoto Sayaka and Watanabe Miyuki will appear in Majisuka 5. It's just not yet clear what kind of role they will get.

 

All five of them look sooo good! I'm loving this simple style, it makes them look even more cool like this! >__< Haruppi especially, since it's her first time in the drama, they really give her good styling! I'm excited to see the other characters too and the story and everything, I can't wait for this!!!!! >__< I just realized most of them have short hair, Sayanee will have short hair too probably XD But I like all their hairstyles like this (especially Sakura and Yuihan's short hair). I hope the other characters will also look as cool as these five \^o^/

Edit: Wait, I just read this: "Maeda Atsuko and Oshima Yuko will make appearances as Majijo OGs."

YES!!! AtsuYuu will appear ;____; I'm looking forward to this season even more now!!!!!

 

with small cast, i hope they can develop character better than majisuka 4.
majisuka 4 has 15+ main cast (majijo+gekioko) who always appear each EP lol

plus this drama only stream on Hulu, so they don't need to bother thinking about the push member lol.
only 48G/wotas who pay for this lol

 

I don't buy the excuse that the battles will get extreme, I'd rather admit that no TV channel wants this despite the 'high' ratings last season.

And Maeda&Yuko will appear! I'm looking forward for Yuko's character.. In MG1, Yuko has died, and MG2 Yuko appear as twin.. What about her role in MG5?
Also, will Sado appear in MG5? *just hope*
