Yep Mirurun is a surprisingly good singer, and she's still young, she'll get better. I guess it's her quirky fisher personality that doesn't make you expect her to have that kind of strong voice.
I was hoping she'd win at Janken Taikai because I wanted her to have a chance to show everyone.

After her birthday stage yesterday Miru wrote a blog post. The most interesting part I translated.

Make yourselves ready to see a new side of Mirurun!

Miru: I had decided that an idol must be a brightly energetic and enjoyable figure that doesn't show weaknesses. But, without being a show off, also revealing to everyone troubled and hurting aspects because there’s nothing to be ashamed about when you do your best with all your might, I think such emotions will reach you too.

So from now on I will be sharing feelings and expressions I never showed before. ehehe

Also, I translated the letter from Miru's dad:

To Miru

congratulations to your 18th birthday.

This Miru that was once so little has become 18 years old.

From the moment you were born you astonished your dad. Even though you cried with a loud voice you smiled. “What? Why is this child smiling?”, I asked myself. Your face that looked like you were happy and in a good mood was so cute and lovely, I also laughed while crying.

That was the beginning between me and you.

With the same smile you now have become 18 years old. Looking back at the past 18 years this smile of yours probably also brought forth my smile. Because I normally don’t say such things I’m a bit embarrassed but thank you for that smile.

Also, since you started being a NMB48 member in the summer of your first year in middle school 5 years have gone by now. Looking back at those 5 years it was all days of effort, effort, effort greater than can be expressed with words. Sleepless hours of lessons, work and school. You’ve been knackered every day, right?

Though I knew of those hardships, at times when you looked weary I scolded you harshly. When you were in a sullen mood you’d repeat yourself until you would get loud. And although there were times you ranted and cried there were also times when you said: “I will form a smile without looking down.” I wonder if you resent your dad. (Miru shakes her head)

Still, I wanted you to understand the weight, importance and responsibility in doing your work.

In all of this there was one time that is memorable to me. In all the times you lamented I never before heard this from you, it made me overly worried, though it was the first and probably last time I heard it. I then asked you: “Miru, are you really alright?”
Thereupon you kept silent for a short moment and then, with a vibrant sparkle in your eyes that I had never seen before, you said these words. Do you remember them?

“I am your child.”

When I heard these words, in that moment, I became fraught with emotion and in the end had to hide my flowing tears. In all the various arguments we have daily, that you are growing up to be this strong and graceful touched me.

I’ve received happiness from you countless times. Miru is definitely stronger and more good-natured than I am.

This dad has only one thing to communicate.

That is, my thanks to all matters and to all people. My gratitude to all the people who are supporting and allowing Miru to grow to be strong and good-natured.

Thank you to the staff, all the work related people, to the members and especially the fans, who give their love to Miru.

Miru will as always adhere to being reputable. Therefore I would want you all to ever be deeply, seriously, carefully and under any circumstances with your thoughts with Miru. Because it is Miru, it is alright.

I think, from here on out the burdensome days will continue. But more than anyone in this world I believe because it is Miru she can get to the place she aspires to be at. Because she is my daughter.

Again, happy 18th birthday, Miru.
