I've a few friends in Thailand, both local people and ex-pats, and none of them has ever heard of AKB48 although they can each name a selection of Kpop acts. Also they all refer to Bangkok in shorthand as 'BKK', not 'BNK'.

 

It's probably BNK so it'll be Team BIII, NIV/NV, & KV not BIII, KV, & KVI

and how would we know if the girls are really girls??? It'll be exciting if we have a real-life ver of AKB49 lol

I'm a bit skeptical of overseas sister groups. A lot of people from those countries who already follow AKB already won't switch to their local groups.

IDK what to say lol. Places like Thailand don't really have a large music industry so IDK what "money" there is to be made, but I'm very much interested lol.

 

I say 2 or 3 depending on the size of first generation

 

If they only have 1 generation of girls

Being able to fill out the theater is more than enough to make the money back
With filling out Theater mean consumer traffic to the locals around their theater. Local businessmen will be happier with the influx of money
Consumer traffic means advertisement opportunity from those who want to get a slice of BNK's growing fans.
If lucky, news station may report on the "new hot thing in town"

AKB rise like that, SNH rise like that, JKT rise similarly.
If they can fill the theater, the snowball will start rolling down hill.


They can only really fail if they can't fill their theater.
AKB started off with 7. Looking at the twitter thread, it's fair to say AKB perhaps had the biggest wall to overcome in comparison.

And yes, there are money. I just hope they have better security in case of drunk party goer crashing their place.

 

I'm hoping for other continent group instead of very close 48g. (they're really trying to expand across south east asia isn't Lol)
I wonder why they aren't trying to create a group in Singapore instead?

but overall i'm satisfied with the announcement. D all the best for filipinos and thai for the auditions.

 

I think Thailand has a mature enough music industry. I'm not really familiar with the idol industry of the country but churning out acts from Kamikaze and with Golf and Mike and Neko Jump being exported to Japan before along with a film that has Berryz Koubou in it, I think it can sustain itself. Taiwan is already a given. I'm more worried about MNL48 though since the concept is so alien and the record industry here is already in a blackhole.

 

To be honest, I was already expecting Bangkok for a 48 Group but not this soon...

 

A group in Singapore would literally be the worst idea. It's not going to take off and very few are interested in the very small music scene.
