Gakkyokuha (Idols with unusual musical style) collective thread

Here to discuss idols with unusual musical style. Someone told me that term for this is gakkyokuha which literary means musical faction. I believe the pioneer of this kind of idol is Babymetal.

Playing EDM, their songs feature bass drop like typical EDM songs. Originally named Stereo Tokyo but later ranamed as Sexy Tokyo. Too bad, I heard the group has been disbanded.

Maybe not really unusual but I consider them an indie pop idol group.

 

I'll add the Codomomental Idol line up to the mix.
First up Zembu Kimi no Sei Da (eng trans It's All Your Fault) ZenKimi for short a Yami-Kawaii group that has been around a few years and had some lineup changes with only two original members remaining (Megumi long dark hair and Mashiro platinum blonde, although Yotsu short blonde/red hair has been around since after the first few singles)

Next up is where Yotsu makes her first appearance I'm not sure about the title, but I think it roughly translates to "Yeah Yeah Yeah Undulating Rebellion" unusual titles are theme of ZenKimi and Codomomental in general.

Here you'll notice a lineup change in the "Selfish Newborn Hominina" MV, the single was released in late April this year.

And finally we have the latest MV release "Misfit Lovers" off their 3rd full album Egoistic Eat Issues, the MV was released about a week ago and notice they are down to 4 members.

Next is Yukueshirezutsurezure (eng translation Not Secured, Loose Ends that's what Codo management has decided if you have a problem with it bring it up with them) short form Tsurezure.
Their first video "Funeral Poetry Ringtone" has them as a three member group.

A few months later with one member leaving and 2 new ones added we have Tsurezure as a 4 member group with the MV for "Shinjuku Cinema Connection"

What does Codomomental stuff sound like ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Industrial-metal with heavy doses of electronica and denpa maybe.

3776 a.k.a Minanaro, local idol unit from Fujinomiya, Shizuoka prefecture. their only full-length release to date is a 3776-seconds long concept album all about climbing Mont Fuji, mixing dream pop, post punk and art pop. since this release, sole member Ide Chiyono has been joined by Hirose Aina, formerly a member of Peach Sugar Snow.

recently disbanded Koutei Camera Girl Zwei, who would rap over electronica tracks. this song in particular might particulary appeal to Joy Division/New Order fans.

Yanakoto Sotto Mute, sister group of Bellring Shoujo Heart (RIP). their sound is similar to sora tob sakana's, with a more mature feel.

They just have a really bad graduation system, instead of having one member graduate they have the whole line up graduate

 

One thing I hate about a lot of current alt-idols is when a perfectly good song gets ruined by shitty screamo vocals. Just speaking in general. It's always bad.

One of them is a DJ.

This idol group makes Indonesia their 2nd base, they're very often performing in Indonesia. They're threat to JKT48 because they get fans rapidly by their hardcore fanservice. I once had a 2s with a member, she hold my hand like I was her boyfriend. Even more hardcore ones, many fans could be hugged by members.

Yanakoto sounds like American Football but with female vocal.

 

Can "unusual concepts" count? Because Chubbiness and Pottya fall under this because people wouldn't believe in plus size idols thanks to a certain kpop group who got told to lose weight, were replaced altogether and are now disbanded. And for another side of the unusual concept spectrum, OtomeBrave, being a real life RPG theme.

2. Al Kamar. A one man post-black metal band who use Hatsune Miku voice as clean vocal.

If you don't know, post-black metal is a mix of black metal with post-rock, notable bands such as Deafheaven & Alcest.

Too bad that this group has disbanded a few months ago! I liked the early formation before they translated to Tokyo...
I don't know if this group counts because they are ninjas that save their futuristic country from slavery...Their name is Himegami Crisis and their concept is fantastic. Well, they aren't idols technically but for me, they are delightful to enjoy!

They have Kpop taste I think. The outfits they wore on this MV causing controversy because of nazi like especially the armband.

 

Did they ever officially disband? I remember them coming about the issues about copying BM along with the Nazi stuff then in 2015 they went on hiatus so one girl could focus on school.

 

Yeah, they're never heard after that nazi like video…

While we're at it, There There There's (legacy group of Bellring Shoujo Heart) jusy can't stop getting greater & greater. They still have that unique alt-rock sound, without the hideous vocals of their seniors.

Also GANG PARADE (formerly known as Pla2me & P.O.P) have completely gone into the experimental way with their new album "GANG PARADE takes themselves higher". Definitely the most interesting WACK act at the moment, whatever if it's for their songs or performance.
