Kinmokusei. It's one of the best Team Surprise songs and I was surprised that it wasn't more popular since my taste in music is so basic.

The very beginning I discovered AKB (late 2011), I only downloaded 3 AKB songs, 1st Heavy Rotation, 2nd Flying Get, 3rd Saigo no Seifuku.
It's funny that the first 2 songs (which are very popular singles) didn't really get me into the fandom, but Saigo no Seifuku got me. This song is beautiful.

 

I discovered AKB48 in the early part of 2015, the first 2 songs I remember hearing were Kibouteki Refrain and Green Flash. However the song which 'got me' and pulled me into AKB48 fandom was actually Ai no Sonzai, the title song of the 4th documentary. I'm not sure why, perhaps there was just something about the song which I found to be beautiful, maybe it was the lyrics? (I'd just discovered STUDIO48 so I was able to see the English translation!) However the first 48G live show I ever saw on video was the 2014 AKB48 Kouhaku Taikou Uta Gassen where Takamina performed a solo version of the song and I remember that I loved her performance of it, so maybe that was the reason?

 

- Douki (One of my favorite solos seriously it's shame that it was never really performed, even now that Paruru is gone I think it would make a great solo song to be performed in concert especially by someone who is a better singer than she was)
- Rinjin wa Kizutsukanai (One of my favorite team A songs, they have so many of them that I love tho, they always have the best team songs like Ikiru koto, Hate, Juujun no slave, Kurumi to Dialogue)
- Sokode Inu no Unchi fun Jau ka ne? (Love this team B song, one of my favorite even if it's the poop song ahah)
- Yankee Rock (A superior Majisuka song ! really good)
- Uso no tenbin (One off my favorite nmb songs !)
- Choudai Darling! (Really good b-side song)
- Hinadande wa Boku no Miryoku wa Ikinainda (I love the nostalgic vibe of this song)

I'm forgetting a lot of them, I really love the forgotten akb songs !

 

Is Hikoukigumo underrated/unknown?

 

I don't think so as it's often performed in concert.
Anyway I like Mayuyu's Yuugure to Hoshizora no Aida.
Team k's Iede no Yoru was good, too.

 

Is Kondokoso Ecstasy underrated? I like that song.

Also: Loneliness Club, Chance no Junban (yes, this song is underrated), Arigatou

 

Summer Side is one of my all time favorites, great group of members too. I'm not sure how popular it is but Choudai Darling isn't one I've personally seen done too often and even though it's an obviously important song, Nagisa no Cherry I think is really charming.

 

I might be biased but I ADORE 11-gatsu No Anklet. A lot of members think it's bland and forgettable but I love the song and MV's wistful tone... I'm not sure if it is what Mayu herself wanted as a graduation single (if she ever wanted one) but I get all nostalgic listening to this song

 

Mayu centered song always considered bland by so many people but for me it's always got classic-nostalgic vibe that I still play anklet, kokoro no placard, and labrador everytime.

 

I think if I were to look back on all the AKB singles, Mayu centered songs are my favorite ones. 11 Gatsu no Anklet so sentimental, Labradore Retriever so fun and sunny and Kokoro no Placard so uplifting, and Kibouteki Refrain so thrilling and lively. Manatsu no Sounds Good I generally think more of Maeda but she co-centered it right? Mayuyu songs are definitive akb to me

 

Everybody has different tastes, but sadly, half or more comments about those songs are bad, if not bland. Even there are many who always said "not kokoro no placard 2.0 pls" whenever there are new song lmao. But I'm really glad there are people like you guys..hahaha.

 

I rarely see Uso no Tenbin and Halation being performed, but I absolutely love those songs.

To keep on topic, except Mayu-centered song, for me is this one:
Yume e no Route - Team 8
This song meaning is so classic akb. Cheerful, uplifting, has a deep meaning, and the MV is just...right. Depicting how to finish your own journey in life, as a person and as a part of a team.
Nearly always have teary eyes whenever that song played.

 

For me, every song beside hebirote-KFC-365nichi trio is underrated

Tsugi no Season! I can't find a proper explanation but this song is truly an underrated song

 

Dareka no Mimi (SKE Team KII, Ikinari Punchline)
From the melody to the lyrics to the choreography, this whole song is just pure amazingness. I feel like if this song wasn't an 48G song but a 46G one, it would have been praised to heaven already.
