Why?

 

A number of reasons that I'm not going to type out until it's confirmed.

 

If true, my only concern is the absence of Muto Tomu but what else is new?

 

I'll take that rumored senbatsu with a grain of salt.

1. They can put Miichan in without kicking Tomu out, can't they? Tomu's recent HS sales aren't that bad after all!
2. Most of AKB senbatsu members in the list are like staples. Sure it's interesting to see Omori Maho included for the first time and Satone's return, but Naamin, Seina, Sayaya, Komiharu, Annin, Renacchi and the likes deserve to be in as well, don't they?
3. BIGGEST ISSUE: Too many SKEs and NMBs - not sustainable at all (for the record: Akarin seems a YouTube celebrity in Japan, but her handshake sales (as well as Cocona's) aren't so stellar. I doubt her popularity helps AKB Group as much as some people expect)

 

It's weird that few years ago HKT have the most members participated among SGs and now it's only Miku

Can't they? Who else from AKB would you remove from that list to put Minegishi in? The easy way is to simply replace someone from Team K with her. Tomu's sales aren't bad, but they're far from being good enough to make her irreplaceable.

If anything, that's an argument in favor of this being legit. It's precisely what AKB has been doing for a while now. Does anyone here really believe that those girls are close from returning to the senbatsu anytime soon? Zukkii is the 16th generation's face and she's doing great with sales. Satone is the face of D2 and also did pretty well. Maho is the face of D3 since Moeka is leaving and her sales have been improving. It makes sense for these girls to be in the senbatsu. We can't say the same about anyone else in AKB.

If you look at the most recent TV performances you can see that those are the girls that AKB is pushing as senbatsu faces.

They're not that many. Dasu, Jurina, Miru, Akarin, Miku, Hinatan, Chiho and Yumirin are the names that everyone expected to be there. Akarin doesn't need handshake sales, her fandom is really big. She was in 8 of the last 10 AKB senbatsu. Why would anyone think she won't be in the next single? And 557 is being pushed as the future ace of NMB.

The thing that makes me believe that this senbatsu is fake is that... it makes way too much sense. 557 and Suenaga. Take a look at this year's solo concerts. If you had to make up a senbatsu that sounded credible that's where you would search your names. It can also mean the opposite, of course, but still... nah.

 

I see where you’re coming from, and I think I would agree with that more if Tomu was included in the senbatsu.

 

I remember HKT having 4 members in AKB senbatsu with each SGs having a member, and people seemed to be ok with that. But yeah, subjective..

You're forgetting that there's an alien element that wasn't present in the recent selections: Minegishi.
For her to be there someone needs to leave. Mion and Yuihan from A? No. Yukirin from B? No. Okada and Yuirii from 4? Still no. Zukki, Satone and Maho, bets for the future of the group with good sales? It doesn't seem reasonable either. Eito? Their contribution to AKB's sales is so big that they earned four spots. If anything, Minagawa will replace Nagi in the near future. So, what is left? Someone from Minegishi's team, a team that is always struggling. Someone that has already been left out in the past despite her Sousenkyo ranking and whose sales despite not being bad they're not at Yukirin's level. Easy, right?

Another thing that screams fake.
