Hot takes from this 1. They finally ditched Akimoto from the name of the company along with the other 2 original investors Kubota and whats-his-face. 2. Yoshinori trying to get rid of the stench of the AKS name after it's become so associated with the Maho assault and general NGT scandal 3. They're trying to pay less tax by setting up a pyramid structure
I read it many times and no where in the article says that AKB48 or any group is going to be disbanded. 2. If it works, it will be a good thing. However, I'm afraid that the stench of Maho affair may also stick with the 48 brand, not just AKS.
Does anyone even use "vernalisation"? In Japan or elsewhere? The katakana version gets like a 10th the Google hits of バーナル (vernal), though I haven't looked closely at what those hits are for either. Vernal + Blossom seems a much simpler and better reading, unless they've officially used "Vernalisation" somewhere I haven't found yet. @Aka @Mimikkyu Seems like the both of you are arguing against things the other never said.
Yeah just oldest trick in the book to change name. Nikkan Sports have more detail. https://www.nikkansports.com/entertainment/akb48/news/202001200000869.html Vernalossom will still be involved in overseas groups and IZ*ONE.
To help people that are lost, AKS is dead, but AKB is not dead. AKS is now Vernalossom and they will focus on overseas group + IZ*ONE. So AKS is no more. Having said that, the person in charge for each group (AKB, HKT, NGT) are all coming from AKS (which is to be expected to be honest). Anyway, before criticizing it, I'm going to wait and see whether it will make a difference or not. It is no use to dismiss it this early. Also the new company will be established in April 2020 for AKB and March for HKT/NGT, so basically after the 57th single.
Technically all AKS still has stakeholders in all current 48 groups including SKE/NMB/STU. But in the press release they said that they are not going to interfere with managements of each group.
AKS has been slowly not giving to local 48G anyways as they been focusing on expanding oversea empires across the globe for the past 3 years. It's better now to let go and give it to people who actually cares to develop and invest in the local 48G. Just look at how many more shows/sponsors that local management team can bring in for SKE/NMB/STU. Group management localization is the answer.
well, the only thing to wonder about is all those members signed with AKS ... will they automatically transfer to their respective sub group? Anyway, kennins shouldn't really be a problem if you look at Naachan and STU for the rest ... meh, name change, restructuring ... and maybe a way to ditch NGT someway down the line
The third one is shiba if i remember correctly. The 48 also comes from his name shi(4) ba(8) Sent from my SM-N975F using Tapatalk
My assumption is AKS/Yoshinori Natsuko ditched their responsibility from AKB/HKT/NGT because of wota's angry towards how AKS handling NGT scandal and lack of individual promotions so they changed their name and angry wota can't blame AKS again (and they can gain more ₩₩₩, ¥¥¥ and $$$). Sigh. Now reading some WI*ZONE' tweets claimed that Vernalossom is inspired by IZ*ONE's flower theme Spoiler: Plot twist It's inspired by Techi-sus
They could've got more momentum expanding their influence overseas if they create more international events in the early 2010s but they don't *sigh
Can we expect AKB-only singles going forward? I'd like to see that, SSK or Kennin members should be the only places for sister groups imo.
LOL. Since Sponichi is quite literally AKS's own house organ in anything but name, I have to assume these are the reasons: https://www.sponichi.co.jp/entertainment/news/2020/01/20/kiji/20200120s00041000303000c.html 1) It's been a long-time idea: In truth each group's autonomy was AKS's long-time pipe dream. Ever since the time of the foundation in the Niigata prefecture of the fifth group, NGT48, five years ago in 2015, industry associates have made it clear that "We'd want all groups to get autonomous in the future, with AKS turning into a holdings company". And in fact, for the sixth group, STU48, Hakuhodo & co. participated into its management and it was already autonomous from the very foundation. Even for SKE and NMB, buyers were found last year and they turned autonomous as well. While it may seem sudden, it was actually a long-time pipe dream as a business administration project. 2) Division of the risks: AKS explained that "The objective is to strengthen, as well as optimize, the business-running and the management. In order to make it easier to cooperate with each respective territory". The real meaning behind it is that, included inside of it, are also designs for crisis prevention, and for recovery in terms of image. AKS suffered a damage like never since its establishment, with the incident that came to light last year, in which former NGT48 member Yamaguchi Maho found herself assailed by certain fans. Due to the blow of the incident, even AKB or HKT [*], both managed by AKS too, couldn't avoid a drop in image. What was a big event perpetuated for as long as 10 years, the AKB48 Senbatsu Sousenkyo, was discontinued [**], and the release of AKB's single also delayed. For here on, with each group becoming autonomous, their idea is for this to be a system where they wouldn't bring each other down. 3) Differences among administrators and business-running plans: Shortly after AKB was formed on December 8, 2005, AKS was then set up as the management agency of AKB, on January 20, 2006. Initially, it was an agency with the president/chief executive being the owner of 100% of the stocks; then in 2011 pachinko maker Kyoraku made a capital participation, and later since 2014 Yoshinari Natsuko, hailing from Kyoraku [***], finally took office as the president/chief executive herself, with 100% of the company's stocks being held by her. After the role of new owner went over to president Yoshinari, they also proceeded to expand actively overseas. At present, 9 groups in total across various Asian countries have been born, with Thailand's BNK48 growing to the point of rising to great fame. President Yoshinari made the decision to leave the in-country groups to the care of other staff, while devoting herself to overseas business, instead under her own wings. --- [*] ...? [**] As a reminder, the ever-frank Matsumura claimed at the AKS press conference that it was because the event reached its 10th year and had thus exhausted its purpose instead, as a reason for it. Then again he also claimed that NGT48 members consorting with fans meant exchanging greetings on the street and so on, so I don't blame him for lying one time more. [***] Actually she's the daughter of Success's president, to which Kyoraku was indebted. For the afficionados, Success is best and only known for the shmup series Cotton.
