Thanks. But, to be clear about that quote, I was talking about people not voting for her or giving her fewer points. I wasn't trying to explain why people voted negatively for her.

    because i read it wrong

still, the number of voters have dropped a lot, which would at least justify a review on the number and values of votes people can give even more so when considering the increase in number of idols we can vote on too which creates a further spread

To an extent. Fewer voters + more girls to vote for does mean votes tend to be more spread out and thus negative votes can have more of an impact than they did in years previously, especially in the middle ranks. I'd love to have a more flexible point-based system*, but I fear it's too complicated for the current method of vote-by-PM.

    * For reasons that will become clear if/when I post my final rankings.

Well, I've been keeping my promise to withhold the reveal of my Stage48 ranking for 2019 until ALL of the results have been revealed, and with that the case, here is my ranking listed below under the spoiler:

I'm a bit surprised that it's NOT Okada Nana taking the top spot, but two Nogi girls (Ikuta Erika, Saito Asuka) jointly claiming as winners! First time since the 2015 member ranking when there was a tie for first (also Okada Nana but shared by Watanabe Mayu). If it was based on points per vote average, then Ikuta would've won this one! I don't understand why there were more negative votes for Naachan than in the previous years.

Anyways, I wasn't surprised when I saw several NGT48 members hit the bottom of the rankings for all the shenanigans back in 2019. I was surprised though that my top pick, Yamaguchi Maho, didn't rank as high as I expected, though a top ten is pretty decent.

Given 2019 didn't have Maiyan center for any of Nogizaka46's two singles, I wasn't surprised that she was behind Saito Asuka (Sing Out! center) and Ikuta Erika. I'm a little bit surprised though that Sashihara Rino didn't rank as high as I expected (only 33rd, dropped from 24th!).

I've been focusing more on Sakamichi groups than AKB48G in recent years though I still have been paying attention a bit in terms of the later.

And why did I forget to put Kashiwagi Yuki in my rankings???

    - Didnt use negative vote.
    - I forgot to vote my NMB fav like Aayan and Akarin. Nogi 4th gen climb on my ranking. Surprisingly, I put Saku higher than Saa-chan. Saa-chan and Yan still my 4ki oshi, but Saku's growth as an idol make me want to support her.

I am very happy with Asuka's result yay. My ranking is a mix of 46 and 48 girls that I do like, not necessarily Nogi only.

I gave negative votes to some and it was not for Top 5, but gonna keep it private. I think this will be the last year that I will give negative as I should just ignore the member(s) instead.

Sad Nako dropped, and also can't really understand why would anyone give her negative votes... Whatever. Mikurin is now higher than Nako in the Stage ranking which is interesting.
Yuiri's jump is very expected, even though I did not think she'd be that high, pushing members like Sakura and Nanase.
Congratulations to Shiori and Momoka for their jumps too.

I know Rika is a really controversial, but I'm curious, what made you give the other girls negative votes?

Is this because of how she left AKB48 and went over to kpop? I've seen quite a few people get annoyed about the way she handled it

I'm quite the fan of IZ*ONE, so I've been keeping track of votes to see who downvoted some of their members, but haven't seen anyone reveal negative votes for them. I generally haven't seen many negative vote revelations for international groups. Are the international groups' fans more lurkers?

Incidentally, the post above mine is saying "I give some negative votes" but is not disclosing who they're for [hehe] Obviously nobody's obligated to share their votes at all, but some people do reveal their positives and not their negatives

Full disclosure .... I totally forgot to vote myself,

anyway going through the results I noticed one thing
ok, that could be just 7 people casting negative votes ... but I really had the impression she was (way) more popular than this, are people annoyed at how she, after a mega push, just simply quit?

The [11|9] means that she got 11 positive votes (total 43) and 9 negative votes (total 35), so while the 35 could have been from seven people as 7 x 5 = 35, they weren't.

Well actually 9 people casting negative votes. I didn't vote for her either way, but I'd guess it's a combination of her dating scandal, being (openly) a very very very aggressive fisher (like standing on the street corner trying to lure people over, sweet talking the staff and seniors, etc.), shooting from KKS to AKB center overnight, and then leaving almost as quickly without much explanation. For me she was somewhere between "hmmm" and "I wish someone else was getting this attention", but I did like her in 最強ツインテール.

@kanjo My 2 cents for the voting, I like things pretty much as they are as far as method, privacy, etc. If I could program my way out of a paper bag I'd volunteer a script with drop-downs and such for voting that would make it easier and probably boost participation. In the run-up to the vote maybe encourage people to post a message in their favorites' forum threads to say what they liked over the last year. For the negative votes, maybe if they were all -1 pt that would be better? It gives people a way to express public dissatisfaction with a member in the anonymous spirit of the poll, but raises the bar a little for how much impact you can have "strategically" with negative votes.

I understand all of that, although I thought the dating scandal was kinda unconfirmed, and I didn't know about the blatant sucking up to people who could do her a favour (ok, I kinda harshly paraphrased the paragraph about fishing :) )
the last two reasons ... yeah, I kinda feel like that as well .... I know a part of it is jealousy (why doesn't my oshi get all those chances) but it makes me like some members less then I probably should, because I just don't get the appeal of them, like I just didn't get the appeal of Moeka that duckface got old pretty fast imho... (and I can point out a Kami-7 member I felt/feel the same about :) )
I was just a bit surprised how extremely low she ranked for someone who centered an AKB single, it's not just the negative votes, it's also the absence of positive votes.

I don't think people really know if it was made up by someone jealous at her school or was real, but I think just that it happened to someone being pushed that much, and it wasn't too directly addressed (and she returned to become center while, for instance, Yokoyama Yui got sidelined) made people upset.

I like(d) Moeka but because she already graduated (and didn't participate much in the theater) I didn't vote for her. Didn't negative her either but I did consider giving her some points. I assume at least a few others out there probably also put more votes towards girls still in their respective groups than graduates

I am just going to post my list without final results but with reasons why I voted.

    01. Okada Nana (+15)
What is there to say? She is clearly the person that AKB48 centers around, she might not be the center of singles (I personally think we won't see a same center in a row again) but she is always there where it counts, not just visually but also as a sort of shoulder for the rest of the group to lean on. I have an opinion on her downvotes but I wanna talk about that more later in a separate section of this post

    02. Murayama Yuiri (+10)
If Naachan is the shoulder on which the group leans then Yuiri is the shoulder on which Naachan leans. It seems she has accepted that she is more then good enough for a place in the spotlights that is called senbatsu and this is mainly the reason In have now put her in my 2nd place.

    03. Kashiwagi Yuki (+9)
The undisputed queen of AKB48, more wouldn't be necessary but I will say something anyway: The last member of the rise and true glorypoint of the 48 groups. Even though she is one of the oldest members of the group she still outshines many younger members in beauty, class and overall "being an idol"

    04. Ikuta Erika (+8)
My favorite 46 girl. There isn't anything I could think of to dislike her. She has class, beauty and talent but also a good dose of self-humor and goofiness. Even though rumours of her graduating are always hovering around her I still think we wil enjoy her presence for a few years more.

    05. Yokoyama Yui (team 8) (+7)
Favorite team 8 member and dance godess. In my eyes one of the most under appreciated members in the 48 groups. Although I would normally place her a bit lower in my list I gave her a few extra points in protest of her being sidelined due to her "scandal". As I am against the "no dating" rule (I find it has no longer a place in these times) it didn't bother me one bit. Also with the anouncement of her upcoming photobook I think she has a nice way to take revenge on her haters (not just here on the forums).

    06. Higashimura Mei (+6)
Again the dance skills, but also just an incredible funny character to watch on the hina variety shows even if she is the extremely silent type.

    07. Saito Kyoko (+5)
Good singer and a talent for variety, great looks to, bonus points for her love for ramen.

    08. Tanaka Miku (+5)
Great ambassador for her hometown which shows she has the talent to aim for higher things if she wants to. Also a talent as an idol. Only thing I am worried about is that she is short (even though that is cute) which makes her drown among the other members. This might also affect her chance for being a center.

    09. Yabushita Fu (+4)
Favorite stu member even though I can't exactley pinpoint why. i guess she is the type I am drawn to without realizing it.

    10. Komiyama Haruka (+4)
Seems to have really slotted into her role as captain which also brought back her joy of being in the group.

    11. Matsui Jurina (+4)
Even though her health is failing her more and more she, for me, has a legendary status. Gave up more then half her life to being an idol which can only earn her respect in my book. I hope she gets the chance for a nice sendoff and that afterward she will truly recover again so she can pursue new dreams.

    12. Ogino Yuka (+3)
I can't help but still like her, however what I will do next year will greatly depend on NGT's behavior this year.

    13. Sugai Yuuka (+3)
    14. Habu Mizuho (+3)
I do these 2 together as the reasons are more or less the same. I see them as the glue that keeps keyakizaka together at this moment. Sugai does a good job as captain and Habu as the one to keep spirits lifted. I just hope for these 2 (and the rest of the group) that keya management finally starts to show a more general appreciation for the members.

    15. Moriyasu Madoka (+2)
For me the most beautiful girl/woman in HKT48. Also, even though I normally am not a fan of the piano, I like her piano stuff. Fun fact: only 48 girl I have hung up a poster of ever (from one of her shoots in ARMS magazine)

    16. Shiroma Miru (+2)
Carries the heavy load of nmb48 on her shoulders. She is strong enough to handle it. I also like her strong Osaka vibe.

    17. Kamimura Hinano (+2)
Great variety idol, growth potential is huge with this one. If she goes on like this then next year she will be much higher on this list

    18. Takino Yumiko (+1)
I like her, does a good job as the center of STU, a little bit to obsessed with Naachan though.

    19. Kodama Haruka (+1)
A vote as appreciation for what she did. Her health costed her what could have been a very good idol career (instead of just good). Seems to do pretty ok now for which I am happy.

    20. Inoue Rina (+1)
Final vote goes to the girl I think is really a "one to watch". Could have been higher if keya management wasn't neglecting the group at this moment.

    About negative votes:
I didn't use them as I am against them. I don't think they add anyting worthwhile to the election and I have the feeling that many voters that do use them do not follow the rules on when and for whom to use them.
I, for the love of all that is holy, for instance can't think of any reason to dislike Naachan for an average of -4 per negative voter. Also if I look at Yuiri who has 1 person vote a -5 then I get the feeling that we have atleast one person who casted negative votes for homophobic reasons.
My opinion for next year: either abandon the negative votes completley or limit them to a max of only -1 point.

@kanjo is there any chance for ranking of only 1st place pick of each voting person? How looks situation when we'll not count 2nd, 3rd...20th and all negatives. Just 1st place.
