OCHA NORMA

OCHA NORMA (オチャノーマ) is a Japanese pop group under Hello! Project, composed with eight former Hello Pro Kenshuusei members and two winners of the Hello! Project Shin Member Audition 2021. They made their major debut on July 13, 2022.

The group name's meaning: "Ocha" (living room) and "Norma" (latin for normal). The idea is they are "a new generation (or standard) to entertain the living room".

Their debut single debut at #2 and their total sales to date is over 90k. Congrats on such an achievement for a debut group.

OCHA weren't told about the group name up until the day of the announcement Kubota can’t forget the impact it had Written in English, it looked cool and she was really drawn to it.

The announcement of the name to the girls was slow-rolled, showing the OCHA first before revealing the NORMA So when she first saw the OCHA by itself, Nachume was wondering if the group name would be in kanji

When she heard that they would be finding out their group name, Miku felt like she might cry But when she heard the ‘OCHA’, her tears were blown away She feels that the name OCHA NORMA has the magical power to bring smiles to people’s faces

Madopi accepted the group name readily She remembers being surprised when she heard BEYOOOOONDS’ group name though Since H!P has always had unique names for their groups, OCHA NORMA didn’t particularly feel out of place

Momomo has had plenty of opportunities to introduce herself as ‘Kitahara Momo from OCHA NORMA’ And every time, she feels like it’s a cute name, so it’s fun for her

Kubota wasn’t familiar with the phrase ‘Ocha no ma’ which their group name is based off, but Nachume feels that it was a common phrase where she grew up in Ishikawa

Talk turns toward the two non-KSS members Kubota feels that Sumire’s English rapping will create a contrast to the Japanese roots of their name She also feels that Roko’s good singing will improve the balance of the group

Miku notes that Roko’s already opened up to Momomo, like a clingy little puppy Momomo’s asked Roko to call her ‘Momo’ So far, Roko-chan's only dropped the 'Hara' and been referring to Momomo as ‘Kita-san’

Madopi’s a little jealous of how Roko-chan calls Momomo 'Kita-san' Madopi asked Roko-chan if she would call her ‘Tou-san’, but got a no

Miku notes that Sumire has silky smooth skin and knows a lot about things like beauty products and so on

Kubota feels that Sumire might be a challenger to her position as ‘the cute one’ Being the same age, Nachume chats with Sumire a lot She feels that Sumire’s very frank, and probably fits the ‘cool beauty’ archetype better

Nachume has been seeing blog comments from people overseas So she wants OCHA NORMA to convey that sense of Japanese-ness, maybe even do enka, and bring it to a global stage

Kitahara Momo joined as a guest for the H!P musical, STAGE VANGUARD ‘Akujou Tensei’ on Aug 5

According to fan reports, a new original OCHA NORMA song titled "Suhada wa Nettaiya" (素肌は熱帯夜) was revealed during their public recording event for their radio show at CBC Hall.

The girls describe the song as summery, cute and addictive.

New song yes! Must admit their debut single wasn't a banger for me. So finger crossed I am liking this song more

 

The B-side is quite good though wish they went with the Beyooooonds style and released it as double-A instead

 

Wait, their debut was a double A-Side. But Triple would the better choice? I think for me no Song of the both A-Sides were a banger, like Hatsukoi Sunrise and others

 

Oh, it was? Great then. They put so much emphasis on Crouching Start, I assumed it was a regular single-A (I didn't buy it because I'm about to move so I'm trying to avoid buying stuff, especially Japan imports)

Yeah I like Omatsuri Debut. Not a “getting into the favorites” song but better than Crouching Start, it's a song I definitely wouldn't mind hearing everyday.

 

Omatsuri Debut is for sure a banger!! That's the type of song that is created to get the live crowds hyped up, something everyone will bob their heads to unconsciously. Crouching Start is still good but Omatsuri Debut is def the better of the 2 and probably should have been the main promoted single. Personally I feel like this debut double-A has been better than almost every other group's debut singles except for probably Juice-Juice, their tripe-A side was absolutely disgusting especially Watashi ga Iu Mae (memorial Edit)/

* I figured that venue name had to be a typo so I went and looked it up. The place is called Community Hall (Bunka Kaikan — literally Culture Hall, but it's known officially in English as Community Hall). It has 3 event spaces which are called ‘something Hall’, and one of them is indeed called Bunka Kaikan Hall. So in Japanese it's Bunka Kaikan Bunka Kaikan Hall, which translates to Community Hall Community Hall Hall. To add to the confusion, one also has the option of holding events on the Community Hall Hall's Foyer. I don't even. Anyway.

BTW Owariasahi or Owari-Asahi is a suburb/satellite city on the Northeast side of Nagoya.
Now I just hope I make it to Japan before the 19th of November
