Neru is starring in a new drama series that has just begun. And it is the first-place drama of the week on TVer, which puts on the Net the content of all the big private networks. This drama is from KTV.

It's called Usokon ウソ婚 ("Fake Marriage"). Neru's character is a weak, self-abnegating woman of 29 who loses her job and her flat at the same time. She ends up moving in with a successful childhood friend as his fake wife. He is a top architect, but his biggest client is adamant that people he works with have to be married, so they're more dependable. The fake husband seems pretty unlikable, both as a kid and as an adult; he just keeps boosting his own ego by putting her down. But I'm sure love will conquer all. The drama is based on a manga.

A Japanese commenter said how much better an actress Neru is than she was at the time of Tokuyama Daigoro. I should hope so. That was seven years ago. But in fact I think she does seem a capable drama actress. Fairly natural, but conveying emotion.

Just saw "Usokon" ep. 1 and was wondering who is the pretty actress. I look up the cast and its Neru. Nice to see her as an actress and looking forward to how the plot unfold.

She sill has those weirds arms lol (I mean, I guess she'll be like that forever, but it has been a nostalgic though lol)
I'm not following Neru closely, so, does someone knows how famous is she?

 

I don’t know how famous she is among the public, but she has a lot of work compared to other ex-Keyaki members. It’s even more impressive considering she left the entertainment biz for awhile.

Just to list a few things-

1. She has a whole little show with NHK called Neru’s SDGs. It introduces social issues in Japan and around the world and shows how people are solving them.
2. She is currently appearing the Usokon drama.
3. She appears on a radio program. I forget the name, but it’s on J-Wave I think. She explores different music from around the world. EDIT- It’s called BIBLIOTHECA.
4. She is releasing an essay book. I’m not sure what the topics are or whether it is a collection of older things she’s written.

I’d argue she’s the most successful of every Keyaki/Sakura grad so far.

 

She also host Tokyo Idol Festival for MC and idols meets.. Of coz she is the most popular in entertainment field after akb48 Sashihara..

 

I agree with this. Hirate could be bigger than she is right now but she doesn't push herself outside of occasional random photoshoots and acting jobs. Neru is very active. I guess she'd be referred to as a talent since she does multiple things.
