thank you for bringing attention to these videos. they are fun to watch. regarding the second video and the concept of "anpai," I play ricchi mahjong and it's the first i have heard of the term, but I am very familiar with the strategy. there are many different ways to play the game but it is common that 4 players will be dealt 13 tiles and the goal is to complete your hand with a 14th. hands are completed by drawing and discarding tiles to create sets of 3 (sometimes 4) until you have all your groups made except 1 set that requires 1 more tile either drawn from the remaining tiles or discarded by another player. In Japanese mahjong, when a player is waiting for the last tile, she can declare "ricchi" (classic play on words, ichi (1) and phonetically "I'm in reach of winning") or "tenpai" to alert the other players they only need 1 more to win (declaring gives the winner more points(money) if they complete their hand). It's better to lose the hand than be the 1 to discard the winning tile so all of this brings us to the concept of "anpai" or safe play. discarded tiles are left face up in the discard pile (neatly arranged in rows in front of the discarding player (so japanese!) [side note: i play hong kong and filipino mahjong and the tiles are lit. discarded any which way] by looking at the "waiting" players discards can let you know what tiles can be safe to discard ensuring you won't lose (at least to the declared player).

in the video the concept of "anpai" is more like your "go to" . what is your go to karaoke song that you can sing with confidence? what is your "go to" hairstyle, outfit, phrase, and so on.

She said that when she was a child she suffered from hepatoblastoma, a type of cancer which affects the liver (our Wiki says that she developed a serious illness at two years old and she was hospitalized for nine months).

 

So there were 2 cancer winners in AKB48
