Loved the MV and the song. Personally, i find it better than AidoruNanka because it has AKB core vibes.

Such a fresh song that makes young gens shine.

Now this is quite a complex one, in my opinion!
I can't fully understand the meaning yet, as in what the boku/kimi means, what does the flower symbolizes, also the chorus doesn't fully make sense for me.
Perhaps I misheard some things too. Either that or Aki-P made a deep lyrics for this one.

Perhaps 2nd verse will make it more understandable.
The message that I get so far is that "There are a lot of wonderful things always hidden under the pretense of knowing everything"

If I'm trying hard to connect it with AKB then maybe it's something like:
People pretend they know enough about AKB and never realize the wonderful stuff (like the U-22 girls ) are hidden deeper beyond their understanding.


I'm open for any inputs! I'm still not sure about some parts too, like the treasure-searching part.

Haha while that MV also looks great, I was thinking of Kimi no Koto ga Suki Dakara MV instead!
It has similar elements:
Schoolgirls interacting with water hoses

Girls that are not joining the group activity at first and just starting at others

Random water showers at the end

Also a young new center and girls who have once been in senbatsu

But yes the big difference is that they were dancing on green grass instead


Overall for me this IdolNanka Janakattara single is similar to RIVER single, where RIVER was the one with deep lyrics and the Undergirls song is more traditional idol-ish.

Other tidbits about Shittakaburi MV:
from Kohi's showroom:

• they used large amounts of water
• it was an all-day shoot from 6AM, most likely on Aug 10 (Kohi mentioned that it was right after HADO together with Yuichi, which was Day3 on Aug 9)
• the "furi-ire" or lesson for the dance movements were done on Aug 9 night (the HADO group (Satomina, Kohi and Yukitan) were late by 1.5 hours)
• it was a hot day, 36 C
• Kohi fainted a bit since she hadn't slept due to practicing, hadn't eaten, it was hot and her first time doing all-day shooting right after HADO Yuichi was worried.

• Ayamin, Manaka, Yukinee and Mizumin played the role of the nagging club members in the MV,
• They wanted to be part of the "helpful" students role too, but after looking at the other members on the set they kinda accepted the role

When was the last time we have MV for undergirls actually? Omoide my friend in Shitsuren, Arigatou? I'm glad the MV received positive feedback, I've always been jealous with Sakamichi MV for new gen.

The romaji ver seems 95% correct but I'm not very good at Kanji so it's all up to @tamvk12 and @lyl. Call be if you need a color-coded for the romaji .

 

wait... has it even been informed anywhere that KKS song "Do the Dance!" will have MV too??
I just watched Azu's Sep 14 showroom and she nonchalantly says that they've wrapped up the MV filming for KKS song??
She says it's not a leak from her, and apparently it was mentioned in BOMB magazine interview.

I didn't expect it!! I thought there's gonna be only 2 MVs as usual. Excited!

Also she says "Do the Dance!" has a quite different genre/feeling compared to Shittakaburi and the previous KKS song Ano Natsu no Bouhatei.

More tidbits on Shittakaburi MV from Remitan's showroom clip

• They were originally supposed to dance over the mud BAREFOOTED
• But since it would be painful and dangerous it was decided that they would use shoes instead.
• The individual lip scene shots (at the pool) were taken later in the day
• Remitan is happy her wink scene is included in the MV, she thought they had tons of footage that there's no place for that one.

• She's also happy there's quite a number of TokuGawa (Remi+Hiyuka) pair shots . They can finally feel like being in the same school

Happy that we’re getting another MV… but they truly don’t care about the rest pf the girls, do they?

It all seems to be about senbatsu + KKS at the moment. Hopefully that means they have learned from past mistakes and are sure about promoting newer girls better. Still hurts for the 2nd Campus.

 

Some fans have been saying since 2015 that being an akb48 kks is better than being a team/promoted member and nowadays this have never been so true lol. Any KKS has higher senbatsu chances than those who have been in the group for years as eternal unders/theater girls.

 

I also connected it to the amount of water they used lol. It's the SJW in me (I'm using the term ironically, don't come for me), but that was the only part that bothered me about the MV, the amount of water that was wasted.

But thank you so much for the lyrics, I think they really add to the meaning and makes the song even nicer to me!

I do like the song but I'm a bit surprised at the overwhelmingly positive reaction, asking to make this song an A-Side and calling it the best B-side we've had in ages. It's very traditional, in my opinion not particularly innovative, but still cute and nice to listen to/watch. I like both this song and Idol Nanka Janakattara - I think rather than putting the A-Side down, I think this is a sign that it will be a solid single overall

The last single I considered well-rounded was Ne mo Ha mo Rumor (that song itself was my #1 most played in 2021 and 3rd in 2022), it had a couple of good B-Sides (Oosawagi Tengoku and Seikoutoutei). I didn't really like the A-side of Moto Kare desu that much, the only B-side I really liked was Naachan's solo song, even though I'd been begging for team songs for ages. HisaLip was originally a good song, but not really memorable and I think it's already faded into the unforgotten - none of the B-sides really stood out to me. DouSuki was a nice A-side, but again none of the B-sides really stood out to me. I want to love Netafuri 'cause it's my oshimen's only MV appearance, and it's cute, but not memorable. I know people love Ano Natsu no Bohatei, but it never did much for me

I'm not sure I'll love Idol Nanka Janakattara as much as I did Ne mo Ha mo Rumor, but it would be nice, considering I don't have a lot tying me to the group anymore right now.

I'm sorry I wasn't able to respond earlier! It's being though for me to find some free time hehe. But I checked the lyrics and (at least from what I found hehe) it's 99,8% right. The only thing I found that need to be corrected is the "一生のうちに見る花はどれくらい" part, on the 2nd verse. It's a really small and silly thing, but it's romanized as "Isshō no uchi ni miru hana wa dore gurai", while it should be "Isshō no uchi ni miru hana wa dore kurai" instead. @donjonnie

I think this is what made so much people completely fall for this song and MV. Sometimes the simple, traditional, low-budget thing is what everyone needs.

The weakest song in this single for me. Unfortunately I had high expectations. I noticed a pattern here: Wonderful Love is boring. Ano Natsu no Bouhatei is great. Do the dance! is even more boring than Wonderful Love. So maybe 63rd single kks song will be good.

 

even though it's KKS song, this kind of song won't gain much vote in RH.

They have finalized the performance setlists, and while they are keeping it secret, you can see their hype and reactions when discussing some songs and performers, RH ranks, etc.
Some little spoilers : Hisalip will be performed, while Ippome Ondo and BareBare Bushi are not in any list.

Discussing, of course, the 4 coupling songs.
Sharing some summary since I think not many people watch/know about this show.

Apparently they were informed of the couplings and being centers when AKB had a big Zoom meeting with everyone. Serika, for example, was at home during that.

Since the other 3 songs are not revealed yet, they mostly focused on U22 song and MV in this episode, while the rest will be discussed in the next week episode (at release day).
Saechan pointed out that the "Takara/Treasure" pose evolves into the "Hana/Flower" pose at the 2nd verse, signifying the lyrics.


MV was shot at the day they learned the dance moves, so a lot of mistakes were made. We can see some in the MV if you focus enough
Previously in a showroom of Sakipon, Manaka and Satomina,
Satomina said she is happy to see her errors in dancing were all cut from the MV.
Manaka added some joke: a manager recorded the dance part on her own camera and shared it to Manaka, who showed it to her mom later that night.
Manaka's mom commented: who's this one girl that can't dance?! (it was Satomina)
No offense to Satomina, they were all laughing to this joke reveal.
Also to her defense she was one of the HADO group girls that joined the MV practice later than others.

It was an all day MV shot, from early morning preparation, noon main shots and evening pool lip scene shots.
Saechan shared some unseen off-shots from the MV:


They prepared two identical white costumes, one for the dance scene that got muddy, and another for the lip scenes.
The costumes are actually handled by ALCATROCK (I thought AKB used the Osare Company for everything, but it seems that's not always the case).
They are mainly responsible for creating costumes for Hinatazaka, and it seems they also make costumes for HKT and NGT, among others.

Then they played games for the rest of the show but it's a bit out of topic so I'll put under spoiler:

They played "Shittakaburi Queen" game, where they got to pretend they know about other members' tidbits.
Like what time Saho woke up that morning, what was Serika's childhood dream, etc.

Some personally interesting part I catch:
Serika and Sae were surprised on the fact that Aichan loves eating bugs. Saho knew already, since she also shares the love in eating bugs, I guess?
But Aichan recently stopped bringing bug snacks in her bag since that one TV show where it made quite a viral shock to fans.
She still loves eating it though, just not doing it where people can see.

Sae uses -5.25 contact lenses on both eyes, which actually still below what she needs to see 100% clearly, but she chose those for some reason (comfort?)
That's a pretty bad eyesight for a relatively young girl, maybe she used to read a lot?
