I think it should be noted that both Shounin Yokkyuu and Last Note Shika Shiranai have been Sakurazaka46 and =LOVE's highest selling singles to date. Especially =LOVE has been climbing higher and higher recently, so it was only a matter of time until their sales would not exceed the previous single. It is still their #2 each, same can't be said for AKB48.

First day sales sorted by highest sales:

    Sakurazaka46:
    1. Shounin Yokkyuu (2023) - 363,538
    2. Ikutsu no Koro ni Modoritai no ka? (2024) - 354,311
    3. Start over! (2023) - 470,174
    4. Samidare yo (2022) - 324,658
    5. Nobody's fault (2020) - 307,647
    6. Nagaredama (2021) - 303,232
    7. BAN (2021) - 300,704
    8. Sakurazuki (2023) - 285,277

    =LOVE (top 10)
    1. Last Note Shika Shirani (2023) - 183,347
    2. Norotte Norotte (2024) - 157,950
    3. Natsumatope (2023) - 151,915
    4. CAMEO (2020) - 136,466)
    5. Kono Sora ga Trigger (2023) - 132,090
    6. Zurui yo, Zurui ne (2020) - 126,687
    7. Ano Ko Complex (2022) - 124,975
    8. Be Selfish (2022) - 110,115
    9. The 5th (2021) - 95,931
    10. Sagase Diamond Lily (2019) - 85,788

    AKB48
    (new era)
    1. Ne mo Ha mo Rumor (2021) - 320,489
    2. Idol Nanka Janakattara (2023) - 315,024
    3. Moto Kare desu (2022) - 288,562
    4. Doushitemo Kimi ga Suki da (2023) - 282,115
    5. Colorcon Wink (2024) - 278,958
    6. Hisashiburi no Lip Gloss (2022) - 270,480

How about billboard numbers? It seems there are discrepancies between billboard and oricon

    Not only that.
Oricon counts 20 discs as only 1, and Billboard has another rounding method based on estimations.
Anyway, Oricon is the main reference for most record companies.

Oricon is THE Japanese chart. But as long as they’re getting that 1st spot, I doubt management cares about how they count the sales.

Selling 500k per single in a pure AKB era seems like a win.

Seeing a lot of people talking positively about the Colorcon Wink Dance Practice video! Some are calling it "Honda Police's legacy" [hehe]

Whether you liked Hitomi or not, I think she really did have a positive impact on the members and their stance on dancing. Even Yukirin said, after all these years of being in the group, she was still able to learn from Hiichan.

I also watched this yesterday and compared:

if the video does not show watch the video here

Even though the NaruTao version is only 2 people, the senbatsu version felt more synchronised to me and was more enjoyable to watch that way. This is not to criticise NaruTao, they're also different heights and their limbs are different lengths + your eyes can easily focus on both members simultaneously (vs all the members in senbatsu), so any out of sync moves are more noticeable. I still enjoyed both performances :)

I meant to ask how does karakon billboard number compare to recent other 48g and 46g singles... since oricon punishes bulk buying and does not count international shipping.

Nobody counts international shipping, not even outside of Japan. This is why, when you go on a Wikipedia page of any popular album/single, it has charting positions and certifications from different countries.

It's also pretty much confirmed that Billboard also "punishes" bulk buying (as they should, IMO), but we don't know the exact numbers. Additionally, Billboard counts shipments, whereas Oricon counts sales, which means if AKB48 sent 5,000 copies of a CD to a random shop and only 30 of those got paid, Billboard would count 5,000 and Oricon would count 30. Of course, there are some limitations with that and I think labels/artists have to meet demand and not just over-ship, but that's a big reason why Oricon is so much more reliable than Billboard.

    AKB48 Colorcon Wink (2024)
    -Oricon: 278,958 copies
    -Billboard: 463,564 copies (+66%)

    SKE48 Ai no Hologram (2024)
    -Oricon: 259,313 copies
    -Billboard: 392,376 copies (+51%)

    NMB48
    Nagisa Saikou! (2023)
    -Oricon: 199,445 copies
    -Billboard: 258,346 copies (+29%)

    HKT48
    Baketsu wo Kabure! (2023)
    -Oricon: 109,558 copies
    -Billboard: 183,501 copies (+67%)

    STU48
Kimi wa Nani wo Kokai Suru no ka? (2023)
    -Oricon: 157,691 copies
    -Billboard: 231,972 copies (+47%)

    NGT48
Ano sa, Iya Betsu ni... (2023)
    -Oricon: 47,383 copies
    -Billboard: 70,024 copies (+47%)

    Nogizaka46
    Monopoly (2023)
    -Oricon: 401,431 copies
    -Billboard: 691,515 copies (+72%)

    Sakurazaka46
Ikutsu no Koro ni Modoritai no ka? (2024)
    -Oricon: 354,311 copies
    -Billboard: 531,917 copies (+50%)

    Hinatazaka46
    Am I ready? (2023)
    -Oricon: 364,702 copies
    -Billboard: 522,533 copies (+43%)

Additionally, it should also be said, that Billboard's 1st day counts two days leading up to release (for pre-orders) and release day, whereas Oricon counts the day before release (for pre-orders).

Oricon is quoting first week sales of 321,000 units and it's the 50th consecutive time since RIVER that an AKB single has topped the weekly chart matching a record set by the rock duo B'z:

[QUOTE="Even though the NaruTao version is only 2 people, the senbatsu version felt more synchronised to me"[/QUOTE]

I have to dissent because I don't see either of these two veteran entertainers making obvious mistakes unlike in the Dance Practice Fixed Point version where two newcomers to an AKB senbatsu are noticeably off, Mizushima Miyuu in her moves and Nagatomo Ayami in her position. Mizumin is late at 3:49 (in bringing her hands back down after making the heart above her head) something more obvious if Ayamin beside her is early, something I'd be more forgiving of she (Mizumin) wasn't also late on the same move in the Weekly 99 performance. Then she tilts her head the wrong way at 3:56 (!!!) and misses - or is just weak at - a left foot kick forward at both 1:47 and 4:28, again something more obvious when Ayamin to her left is if anything kicking too strongly. One could arguably blame some of this on Ayamin crowding her.

Bottom line is you see these things when you see the whole platform. Mizumin may be cute enough for senbatsu but I'd drop her in favour of the popular Takahashi Ayane. If Mizumin is kept for the visual then drop Ayamin, who frankly doesn't have the looks, for Ayane.

Don't quote me on this but isn't the heart move purposedly delayed? The other girl on the opposite side standing on the same level as Mizumin is having the same timing as her it appears to me...

Many girls non included in this senbatsu would be deserving of a position, but for both Mizumin and Ayamin this is a first, let's give them time to improve.

we all know some will get dropped from the selection in favor of 19ki girls in the next single anyway...

    Time's up
I think she's indeed about half a second late at that 3:49 moment :
    [IMG][IMG]
    compared to
the first reveal on CDTV where Yukinee and Mizumin kinda did it relatively together with better timing:
Which might've caused the feeling of unsynchronized for those who focus on that part/moment. (Which now I certainly do too after seeing it being pointed out :^^;:)
