Anyone else get their JLPT results back?

I was only doing Level 4, but I got 386/400. Full points for writing/vocab and listening, but got 186/200 for grammar

 

LOL! My results were actually available online a month ago, but I totally forgot to post them here.

LEVEL 2
Writing-Vocabulary: 56/100
Listening: 54/100
Reading-Grammar: 78/200
Total: 191/400
Result: "NOT PASSED"

After several practice runs with Level 2 Tests from previous years, I realized there was no way I'd be passing the 2009 Level 2 Test, so basically I just walked into the test room and had fun - you know, crash and burn with a smile? Of course, that's not meant to imply that I didn't take test seriously. As a matter of fact, I actually started studying for Level 2 immediately after I took the Level 3 Test, and studied everyday since then. But to me, the test was just what it was- a means of measuring my capacity in Japanese. If the test shows me that I've got a long way to go, then I got a long way to go - and obviously I do have a long way to go, hehe.

To this day I still study Japanese, but now I'm changing my study approach so that I focus more on the practical elements of simple conversation, and not on heaps of vocabulary and grammar that I'll probably never ever use.

Anyway, props to all who took the test. Whether you passed your respective exams or not, I personally think it's an act of courage to tackle such a difficult as Japanese and to take the proficiency exam. With the test format changing for 2010, goodness knows what'll come of it, but I wish the best of luck to all who continue their Japanese studies and venture to take the JLPT again.

340/400, full marks for listening, 89/100 for vocab, and 151/200 for grammar.

I'm so not actively studying for N3 or N2 - at least not for this year.

I think that's a great score!

Just wondering if anyone happens to be preparing for the N1 exam and has any information about it?
I only read the brief outlines and they stopped releasing the guidebook for some reason...

Supposedly it's going to be more difficult than ever!

 

^ Wow, N1? I didn't know you were that good with Japanese. Props to you, buddy.

And really, does it matter how hard it is? By that level, it's assumed you're fluent in the language, so you should be able to handle anything the test throws at you...right?

 

Just a question where do you guys all take this test?

which is why I'm worried about N1 since (as you said) you need to know pretty much everything

I've failed JLPT2 two times! First I just couldn't pass it, second I was that stupid to fill the blank wrong~ and last year I even didn't try to pass any level~ Maybe I gonna try N3 this year~

Not sure is this the correct thread but can someone tell me how to say the following stuff in Japanese?
1. How do I ask do you have this shirt in blue/ Large size? (When in a clothing store)
2. I want to go to Akihabara, how do I get there? (asking random person on street)

 

I think this is the correct thread for these kinda questions.

Anyway, there are lots of ways to say that, so I chose two examples for each situation.
You can use whichever you want.

a:これの青のラージサイズのシャツはありますか?
(これのあおのラージサイズのシャツはありますか?)
(Kore no ao no raaji saizu no syatsu wa arimasu ka?)

b:このシャツと同じ柄で青でラージサイズの物はありますか?
(このシャツとおなじがらであおでラージサイズのものはありますか?)
(Kono syatsu to onaji gara de ao de raaji saizu no mono wa arimasu ka?)

a:秋葉原への行き方を教えてくれませんか?
(あきはばらへのいきかたをおしえてくれませんか?)
(Akihabara eno ikikata wo oshiete kuremasen ka?

b:秋葉原にはどうやったら行けますか?
(あきはばらにはどうやったらいけますか?)
(Akihabara niwa dou yattara ikemasu ka?)

Do you mean "これに青のラージサイズのシャツはありますか?"?

If you mean that, it works too.

 

We actually have a thread dedicated to Japanese translations and even one dedicated to just dialogue in Japanese, but posting those questions in this thread should be fine.

It depends on your situation.
In some cases, that could mean "Do you have another shirt in blue, large size in addition to this one?"
But I think that's a really rare case.

Anyway, I personally prefer "の" to "に".
That sounds more natural to me.
