Yeah, yesterday when I saw the CDJapan donation (they're donating 2%) I didn't think it was much, but so far they had already gathered a lot of money so I decided to help by buying something as well [hehe] I don't have a lot of money, and my credit card can only cover up to 250 dollars, which isn't much, but I feel like despite of this, if a lot of people donate just a bit it becomes a lot of money in the end :)

Also, about the nuclear energy, I think it would be absurd to shut down all of the nuclear plants because of this, some things are unpredictable, and I'm pretty sure that if a 9.0 earthquake + giant tsunami would've hit a nuclear plant anywhere else it wouldn't have been nice either, it's just a huge disaster that's impossible to predict, which is why giving up a cost effective source of energy like that seems absurd to me.

I lol'd because the president of Colombia said something like "Yeah, those nuclear plants are awful, people should really re consider building those things, I think we're not building any of those in my country" and it's like... we don't have the money for a nuclear plant at all, which is why he can say those things to look good

Maybe the difficult thing when we read the % some shops decided to donate is that we look it with 'western eyes'. If this tragedy had happened in Spain, for instance, I'm SURE that some shops would follow a line of though like this... 'We are giving the 1% of our income; that is, for every person that is going to buy one product because he/she is willing to help (a product we wouldn't have sold otherwise) we will get back the money for 99 donations of people who bought that product before; so it's possible that not only we don't lose an euro but we also have a wonderful free promotion (and, of course, it's not impossible that we even make some money in the end) Mean as it is, I'm sure that some Spanish vultures would feed on the tragedy. Of course, every yen donated is good, but it would be disgusting if someone tried to use it for his own benefit. The good thing is that it's Japan so, fortunately, I think that we can trust in the good intention of these shops.

@Garnetjester: Nah, it's not that we down here will made by ourselves one from scratch... the plant will (if made) be build, directed, controlled, put under concession and charged by other countries....
In Colombia you build them bullet proof and that's all.
down here you have to build one Tsunami-proof, Earthquake-proof, Local Maintenance-proof, Government- Call-for-tenders-proof, and Population with mental retardation-proof.

@YKT: Thanks!, errr... yeah, I got that, but the "WHAT?" thing was more tending to... Why?. O.O...

I'm glad the ones doing that will be Wasamin and Mariyannu... ^_^

According to Yuko's blog post from today, the hyper rescue team from last season's Nemousu is at Fukushima right now dowsing the Dai-ichi reactor. I admire them for their courage and is praying for their safety and success.

People have been expecting the sequel to the 1906 San Francisco earthquake for decades. I remember the tour guide telling us about the prediction when I went there in 1992... the fact it's on a fault line means it's going to happen some time. Could be tomorrow, could be 100 years from now.

    Speaking of Yannu...
I found this in one of the comments of the blog:

Directly from Google Translator (I'm too sleepy now to manual re-translate it...)

    For earthquake-stricken people
    I wrote the lyrics.
    Not have a song yet.
    Someone please put a song.
Just make the people of the victims.
    Thank you.
    During this song, and Japan
    I should widen.

We were born to the same star

    One person for life
Only one person in this life
    For someone to use
    This feeling called love

    Those who lost loved ones
    抱E込Manai alone in grief
Certainly be of assistance to someone else's voice
Downcast look on his face a little

Now I can not see anything
    Believe tomorrow looks ahead
    Hear little life somewhere
    Give up things
    Would certainly hope

    Precious lives in a trickle
, Sounds echoing off my chest
Connect people that can not defend
    Love too warm hands

    We are unsound mind
You never get a break 取Ri合E
And connected them to live their lives
    Sure to brighten the future
    Translation not lost everything
Your treasure is what I live by

    Whispered in the mind
    "Lose" your words are strong
    If you see the light
    Remember loved ones smile

    Also heart-wrenching scene
    Reality can not do anything
    Slow-moving step by step
    From giving up
    Start with

Crying in tears and crying in full
Faling sound echoes around the world
Once one big circle of kindness
I'm sure you keep a lot of smiles

    The Moor is the life
We strongly believe in the mind with
    Not one person from everyone
    Looking around I could hear
I wish more than anyone has Ganbare
Be of assistance to you live tomorrow

    "Just want to live" and
From reaching the heart of someone I wish
    Remember that not alone
When she learned the importance of life
    We'll become stronger
    Become One
    Everyone sing

It's a good song, even badly translated by google. O.O

ALMOST the best message I got in my life:

    ******************
Let me see what I can find out for you about helping out on the ground. How soon would you be able to travel if I could find a spot for you?
    ******************

Please please please please be it.

    Yes!. =)
it's from the "Japan Earthquake Animal Rescue and Support" group. and "on the ground" means there.

Right now there are 3 squads, one to Sendai, one to Fukushima (or I guess as closest as they can be allowed to reach) and one to Iwake.

I told one friend: I have everything packed...

But of course, it's very very very very and very difficult to be allowed...

though a "maybe" it's way better than a direct "no".

Yes, but I don't have years to study, that's why I always ask for the "right now I want to know" xD.

On the other hand, all cats Meow and all Dogs bark, so I guess that's universal....

    =========================================================
PS Update: I got in as a translator ENG-> SPA for the time being, anyway...
as "officially as a moderator can speak", is there *ANYWAY* (and I really mean it: ANYWAY, to get in contact with ANYONE in JAPAN (And that includes TGSK san or Akimoto but I guess that would be the same as to contact Akihito so, out of the question) to SPREAD THE WORD ABOUT THE NEEDS OF PUBLICITY (And special: SHELTERS or Temporary Homes for animals coming from Iwate/Fukushima/Sendai in Tokyo or around it?.

plus I would think they would be willing for anyone to come and help them at the moement as they must be hard pushed at the moment with their workload!

They will be hard pushed, but remember: anyone going there needs to have a place to stay/food/...
