Yes, with this kind of advertising, even people who don't even know what AKB48 is will turn around to look at Acchan and Tomochin if they come across them in the street...I am not sure the girls like this kind of exposure... [think]

well, they're in bikini's because it's gonna be blisteringly hot in tokyo, and it's a good way to save on heating bills.

people are selling packs of election tickets.
30 tickets are going for 22500 yen! jeez...

i'm seeing people selling all 3 (a,b, theater) versions for 1200 yen total on yahoo auctions? is that real? i can't tell...

It is most likely without the voting/hand shake tickets. A lot of the wotas buy multiple copies for handshake and what not and sell the extra CDs.

Maybe in other countries, but idols are in bikinis all of the time in Japan. I don't think anyone'll think anything of it.

I don't know whether Japanese idols love or hate bikinis and fame but, according to what I know of them so far, they are usually quite shy. I remember Tomochin blushing when Miichan and some other members began to sing Dear J. And Sakippe crying after playing (amazingly) the piano in a bar, just because everybody began to applaud. One think is bikinis in a magazine/PV/show.... This is quite different and the members who are shy might have a mixing of pride and embarrassment. Besides, even the foreign people spending a single day in Tokyo will likely see those posters. I think that most of the Japanese are courteous (besides, they are used to this) but gaijins are quite different... When I visited Osaka I confirmed that some gaijing had better stay at home (some stupid men chasing geishas with the camera like the poor girls were some kind of trophy). I hope the members don't meet any of these gaijins...

The description says it's still sealed though. I'm guessing it's a fake or something, but... I really want a theater version, hahah.

I'm 99% sure that Japanese AKB wota are worse. =)
Non-Japanese tourists will likely not know any celebrities, whereas geisha totally stick out.

^There are theater versions there by themselves for 150yen (300yen if you buy it now). Just get one of those.

In the descriptions of various Yahoo JP auctions, many of the sellers do state that the theatre version CD is new BUT WITHOUT the (photo) card and that the item will be available after the date of sale.

In other words, once the seller buys the theatre CD with photo after it's publicly released, he/she will keep the photo but sell off the still-sealed CD.

Remember, you buy the photo but get the CD

This is entirely different from being in a bikini. Just because a girl is shy about singing sexual lyrics or performing in front of a crowd doesn't mean they'd be shy being in a bikini on a billboard-type thing. And a foreigner's opinion doesn't matter much (if at all).

I don't think most people in Japan think it's that big of a deal because they're used to things like this. If the girls in AKB are bothered by it then they auditioned for the wrong group...

Well the thing that is wrong is they are in bikini. Lets just say some uncle and auntie who doesn't know AKB, walk past the street and saw that pic. Wouldn't they think that AKB is like some shameless group? [wonder]
As much as i want them to promote this single, it's just kind of ridiculous of them to post such a big bikini pic on the street.
