I didn't expect to win all, was expecting to fail the slot 3, so I'm glad to win. I tried applying 11 tickets for Kawaei, and only won 1 ticket for Kawaei's slot 7! [clap]

this is my worry, too. 11/30 slots is a really bad result for a senbatsu member. Back then, Miichan's selling for 34th single hs event was a shock for me I don't know what happened with Japanese fans.

And regarding Miichan's handshake sales...

It is somewhat worrying, especially since, as Jade mentioned above, the drop in sales happened so suddenly, and looks so drastic. At the same time though, we have to keep in mind that just because a slot isn't sold out doesn't mean that no one is there. I don't know the system that well, but my understanding is that people choose what slot to apply for from a set of all the still-available sots. So aside from the 5 filled slots we don't actually know how full the other 15 slots were.

Still, going from selling out in the third round (31st single and before her scandal) to only selling 5/20 (33rd) is clearly still troubling to look at.

...but then, why now and not earlier? What about that 31st single? Well, one might argue that it was the election voting single and thus doesn't count. So is this the full effect of her scandal? Were all those "Sayonara Crawl" tickets really just one-time "merciful fans" that Terry on Kousagi Dojo said were responsible for her 18th rank?

Some of them clearly were: she couldn't sell out her slots for "Koi Suru Fortune Cookie" (19/20) vs. her previous "3rd round sellout" status, but to say that that many of them were, I think is doubtful at best.

Remember, Miichan chose to participate in the sousenkyo at the request of her fans at the handshake events! I don't think casual fans, fans of other members, and "one last time" ex-miichan oshis would make such a request. Furthermore, if that many fans had really left her, it would've been obvious and she would have stayed out of the election.

I'm not saying that she didn't lose fans (her drop in election ranking is evidence of that), and I don't claim to know the Japanese fan base. But, as a former Miichan oshi said in that one post-election special:support has diminished lately, but those who still support her are "hot".

So when considering the possibility of her fans "leaving" her at this point, remember that these are also the fans who by now have stuck with her through her darkest days as an idol. Furthermore, they were willing to push her all the way up to rank 18 (albeit with the help of so-called "fan mercy"). And now, what? She's well on her way to rebuilding herself; she has a new role, new friends, and a new mission; she was promoted to being captain of what will one day be the core of AKB48. Team 4 had a song on that 33rd single, for goodness sake! I fail to find a good reason for these "hot" supporters to simply leave her now.

No, surely something else is at work here.

Curiously, this drop happened right around when the new Team 4 was promoted...I think this is more than a coincidence. Considering how she's been on AKBINGO, etc. I'm willing to bet that Miichan has been encouraging her fans to check out her Team 4 "children". Miichan's a 1st gen member, so many of her strongest fans have been following her for years and she certainly has become familiar with those who've come to see her again and again. I think she and her fans would be comfortable with such a request: what more would handshake time accomplish between such a long-time fan and their oshimen anyway? They've already proven their dedication to Miichan as an AKB member, and for now I think it would indeed make her even happier to see her fans investing some of that time getting to know her beloved Team 4 girls, reporting back to to her, and thus supporting her as captain.

So as strange as it may sound, I think the dedication of Miichan's remaining fans is exactly the reason we're seeing this low result. The prospect of many Miichan fans reducing their individual amount of tickets and collectively leaving many slots partially filled makes a lot more sense to me than the same group of fans outright leaving at such an important and exciting time in Miichan's AKB career.

Again, we don't know how full the other 15 slots were, so we don't know exactly by how much her sales were reduced by. The more worrying thing is that there's no one there to fill that empty space, and unfortunately she's going to have a hard time getting new fans as a 1st gen surrounded by fresh new members.

This is something that plagues nearly all the old members though, so other than that initial drop to 19/20 (which I believe is the scandal's effect), it's not really Miichan's fault. However, I'm afraid that this may be a bad sign for the next election, if she decides to participate (and I don't think she will). That's another discussion though, and it's far too soon to try and weigh in all the factors for that. But regardless I am certain that her fans will rally to her at the tip of a hat.

 

I'm not too worried about the handshakes. This has been a strange year and we'd better wait until everything gets back to normal. About the 'merciful' fans, I find hard to believe many fans 'wasted' money to vote for Miichan instead of using the ballots for their oshis. And, acording to some comments posted in the forum, I'm not sure many fans who decided to leave her because of the scandal gave her a last chance, because those leaving are usually too angry to vote for her... Anyway, my biggest hope is that T4 is still a young team and those who become fans of it from now on will 'discover' Miichan too. Takamina is one of the most respected members and even people who have other oshis respect and even support her. I believe that will happen to Miichan too when the fans start to find new oshis in T4...

 

Yeah, waiting and not worrying too much about it is the best thing to do, I think.
That's what I hope for Team 4 too. If Team 4 becomes a success, people may regain respect for Miichan for the work she's done. I think that---

Ahh... Miichan hair! Too bad that is Ikemen 1.1 (short-styled Ikemen version), the recent version - which is Ikemen 2.0 (short-styled circly looks Ikemen Version) is.. great! She is trying to maintain her kawaii image back, AND leadership (I heard that short hair is - somehow- representing leadership lol).
