In previous three posts, I posted about Malay language and some other stuff...

Today morning, in CS118 Algorithm Class, I done my work earlier than everyone else and the lecturer still don't want to discuss the working because the others aren't finish, so I spent my time writing about myself in Malay language on a piece of paper...

As I need to save money, I didn't scan the paper (Each scan costs RM1.00 at here, I didn't bring my scanner when I moved to this university residential college)

Yeah, it was kinda small. I even considered staying into the flat cause it was just in a corner of the staircase and looked pretty small... but then I realized my windows have bars and I wouldn't have had many options to go out.

Oh, well. Power is back! I had to throw some food away from the fridge, but that's about it.

Living in university residential college is really good, I can relax when there's no class, and go to class easily.

13. How and where to buy electrics stickers?
A: Calculate the number of your electrical devices, it is RM10 per device for one semester (6 months), go to Financial Office (Pejabat Kewangan) at Administration Building and pay the total amount, take the receipt and go to respective residential department (be it Cengal office, Kesinai office, Dahlia office or Beringin office) and say to them you want the electric stickers, give the receipt to them and they will give a form, fill it and return to them, they will give the stickers after that...

14. Where can I get my class timetable?
A: You can't "get" it, the timetables are posted at notice board at the "Hal Ehwal Akademik" building (a.k.a Al-Farabi 2)

15. Can I use internet of computer labs to download stuffs?
A: Try it and see Even YouTube was blocked... But Facebook was not blocked because... the lecturer and administrators themselves are using them... Like this page: UiTM Perlis
Anyway, if you encountered a website that you can access to download, use the opportunity! The speed is 5Mbps (that's very good for most of us in Malaysia, my broadband is just 125kbps (not 125kB/s))

16. I don't have laptop/computer, where I can do my assignments?
A: Go to the library, you can use the computers for free with 5Mbps internet provided...

17. I need to print, where I can print my documents?
A: The cheapest option is go to Ikon Station in U-Kosiswa Building, it's RM0.20 per sheet of paper no matter black/white or small region colour or full-page colour prints...
If it is closed, go to either library or the "Photostat Shop" at Mushroom Building, it's RM0.10 per sheet for black/white A4 paper, RM0.30 per sheet for very small-region colour-print A4 paper, up to RM1.00 per sheet for full-page colour-print A4 paper...

18. Is there public transport to go out of this residential college?
A: There are taxis, but it's expensive if you take the taxi alone as they count RM8 per ride for a taxi, not for a person... Go by groups, if you and your friends 4 people total take the taxi, each of you just need to pay RM2 each~

19. Where I can buy white socks?
A: (Majority of us wearing black socks) You must be asking this because of co-curriculum requirements, right? Buy it at the unnamed shop just beside BAKA Bookstore at Mushroom Building...

20. My laptop is not working properly, where I can seek for help?
A: Choose which one suits you: Ikon Station at U-Kosiswa Building, the shop beside "Photostat Shop" at Mushroom building, the shop beside BAKA Bookstore at Mushroom Building, the shop beside "Kedai Runcit Hafifah" at Mushroom building, or the last hope is go to Unit Sistem Maklumat Bersepadu building (USMB)... maybe they can help?

21. I want to install Windows 7, where can I install it?
A: I know that Windows 8 sucks... Yes, it's true... You can install Windows 7 at any shops that showed "Windows 7 Logo" at the shop glass...

22. I want to withdraw money, where to withdraw?
A: If you still using passbook, you need to take a taxi to Arau city and withdraw there because there's no bank inside this university... But if you use ATM card/credit card/debit card, there's Maybank and Bank Islam's ATM machines at Mushroom buildings... Both machines accepts normal ATM cards, MEPS, MyKad... For Maybank, it also accepts additional Visa, Mastercard, VisaPlus, American Express and some other virtual money company logos that I don't know how to read...

23. Student's can't cook inside residential college, how to boil water?
A: Use electrical jug kettle, it is allowed...

24. Where to buy magazines?
A: Buy educational magazines at Ilmu Jaya Bookstore, buy entertainment magazines at BAKA Bookstore, and another store beside "Photostat Shop" is selling all magazines and some comics from GempakStarz... That store is where I get my copies of "Cinta, Kasih dan Air Mata" (Malay comic translation of Suki Naki Koi/スキ泣キコイ)... I love Shoujo Manga... The stories are just very suitable with my interest and life!! Ah yeah, all the stores mentioned are at Mushroom buildings~

25. When should I stop my activities?
A: You should stop buying at 11:00PM, stop other activities at 11:30PM, and sleep by 12.00AM... However, most people still awake until 2:00AM, as far as I observed... Some of them are watching anime in their rooms at late night...

dslr vs video camera

hmm, i have heard that if I want to record really good looking videos, sacrificing recording time (~5 min) and sound quality, I should get a dslr camera. I don't mind the recording time, seeing as I don't record much, but what is the on-board sound quality like on these devices, usually.　is it really bad, or should i invest in a microphone, too, if i buy one?

 

Get a dslr + mic. Trust me. A little experimentation and you will be getting drop dead gorgeous video. Besides, even with an actual video cam, you would need to get a seperate audio solution. As on board audio is pretty crappy across the board on either selection.
