    Fragile? Hm...

Can someone who speak a better English than me tell me if the "Let's Joy" they keep saying in their songs is actually a proper saying? It sounds weird to me...

I like them, though they seem a little cheap compared to IkoNoi. Even in their indie days, Not Equal Me had better outfits and MVs...

it's not an expression. "let's" should be followed by a verb/action, but you can technically put anything behind "let's" and have it (more or less) mean "it's time for blank/blank is about to happen" but i don't know if that's what they are doing... lol

Maybe they use it as a derivative of enjoy? So it would be "Let's (en)joy" which would make more sense. :)

The thing is that it's not necessarily correct English :^^;: in Japanglish this is a very common mistake, they put ‘let's’ in front of nouns to mean ‘let's do X’ or ‘let's have X’, and even worse, they put X in front of the continuous form of verbs ‘lets X-ing’ to mean ‘let's X’ (e.g. ‘let's dancing’ instead of ‘let's dance’). The latter is an effect of thinking in Japanese where the corresponding sentence would be in the te-form which usually translates to continuous (odottemiyou), but the former I have no explanation for, since even in Japanese it would need a suru or yaru verb (kaimono shiou). :|

In other words don't assume SasshiP's English is actually good [hehe] we've seen evidence to the contrary again and again.

hm, well it's wrong but at least you can explain why they do it. most recently i keep seeing "high tone" thrown around to apparently mean light/pale hair coloring (as i understand it). normally these things don't really bother me but this one does for some reason.

Japanese has quite a lot of so-called 'false friends'. This is when a language uses a word or a phrase from a different language, but uses it different from how it's supposed to be used in the source language.

For example, the German word for mobile phone is 'Handy' (which is not even a noun in English, but an adjective meaning practical). On the other hand, the English word 'Lager' refers to a type of beer, but in German, it actually means store room and the whole word would be Lagerbier (because the beer is being brewed in a store room where it's cool).

Japanese has a lot of these false friends.

Other examples are 'mai pēsu' (my pace), which is used as an adjective in Japanese and means being a bit slow or ditzy; 'mai būm' (my boom), which means 'a current/viral trend someone is interested in' - in this case, the word 'my' is not even considered as a possessive pronoun, but rather as part of the word and it is common in Japan to ask "What is your 'my boom'?" There's also 'flying get', which (as far as I know) doesn't actually mean anything in English as it stands, but in Japanese, it refers to the day before a release day, and therefore "'flying get' day sales" numbers are essentially pre-order sales numbers. The Japanese 'donmai' (don't mind) means 'never mind'; (don't google this at work), 'guramā' (glamour) means 'large breasted women'; 'hāfu' (half) refers to a person who's half Japanese and half another ethnicity. The majority of these are based on the actual English meaning, but used wrong grammatically or only pick on one tiny aspect of what the word is supposed to mean. I'm sure there are many more if you google them.

On the note of Sasshi and her English specifically, I lost all hope when AKB48 released Jiwaru DAYS with Sasshi in the center and the song lyrics were pronounced as "I say goodbye my darest" instead of 'dearest' :^^;:
