Congrats to the new captains, I think, they will do very well. Still, I loved the old/current teams a lot and I'm really sad about this shuffle right now x_x

I love this. Will take time getting used to it, but finally some fresh air and excitement regarding this group.

What about Team 8, are they all Kennins in their respective Teams again or is T8 gone and they are full members?
Mukaichi captain of Team A- what about Group captain and Soukantoku?

17th Gen audition was such a stupid idea. Honestly AKB currently only needs half their members but they want add new members who will do what? Cleaning the theater?

 

OMG finally the team shuffle, my 2 current active kami-oshi gathered together, now I'm clearly a Team B Oshi again, B! B! B! B!

I always feel Yuiyui is best suited to Team B (assuming Team B is still on idol-like image concept).

 

Pro tip - Aka is always being sarcastic. Team 8 didn’t disband. It’s all Kennins, like it was before.

Finally some big news for AKB

For the team shuffle; I wish there was a solution to end kennins so that Team 8 can be just Team 8 and other teams can have their own members but it looks like there's no solution (and not enough members) so I kinda expected this ^^; Anyway, it's nice to have new captains who are younger, this is encouraging for them. I'm especially happy for Manaka and I think she will do a good job! My favorite team before shuffle was Team A, now I guess it's probably Team B since it has most of my favorite members. Everytime AKB has a new shuffle, my favorite team changes between Team A and Team B haha. it's too bad that teams can't have performances with 16 members at theater because I really liked seeing the first performance of a new team, but at least they're doing concerts, that's great too! Looking forward to it *-* Also, I feel like the future general manager is going to be between Manaka and Naamin probably!

For the coupling songs Request Hour; I like this idea! and I'm glad that all the b-side music videos are now on Youtube finally *-* I'm probably going to make some playlists... one for my favorite songs (includes a lot of old songs and graduated members haha), and one for the songs I want to support for Request Hour (more recent songs with current members that I like). For information the rankings at the Coupling Songs Request Hour will be based on the views and mobile votes.

Lastly the best news for me is the 17th gen auditions *-* I know AKB has a lot of members (83 without counting pending graduations), and I used to think until recently that they should wait until they're at 50-60 members before adding a new gen, but I changed my mind on this. First, it would take at least 2-3 years for them to be at 50-60 members... by then 17th gen will be 8 years after 16th gen and that's way too long. I know AKB added other members after 16th gen but it was never a real gen, a real audition for AKB and where everyone in Japan could audition. So I think they really need a new gen. Besides, they're staying with 5 teams, so it won't be possible to go down to 50-60 members...

I still think that ideally the group should have 50-60 members so the members can be promoted better (and less teams I guess?) but this isn't happening anytime soon, and I don't think waiting and not adding new members is going to help. I feel like they need some fresh faces because it's been long. They used to have 100+ members before, I don't think they should go back to this but they'll probably get close to it (imo 17th gen should have 10-15 members) but there will be more graduations so they're probably going to be at 80 members again in one year or something, and they probably won't add new members for a few years so it will be ok.

Personally I also wanted a 17th gen because currently I feel like I don't have a real fav in AKB even though I have many members that I like but I don't have a real oshi since early 2020. There are maybe other people like this, and having a new gen can be good since it's always easier to start following a member from debut than becoming fan of someone in the middle of their career. So maybe I could find a real new AKB oshi in this gen, that would be nice *-* Hopefully it's going to be a good generation and promoted well by management.

So overall I'm happy with all the news today and really happy that finally things are moving a little with AKB! Now I only hope they can have a new single announced for early 2022!

 

Most well known idols in AKB48 are already around 23,24 and have high risk of near future graduation.
I wish they can find a new Jurina in the 17th audition.
