Spoiler: Name pun explanation

the name was thought by Niinan and Mayuuchan, a pun of 17 -> Ii (1) + Na (7) while "Ii na" means a nice... (adjective). While Kenkyuujou means research lab, Mayuu chose this because there's "research" from research student (研究生) there.

Show details based on the announcement livestream:

• In this show, they will be researching and testing a lot of things in order to become great idols.
• Will be exclusive in NicoNico channel plus, will come with extra live streamings, contents, and live events for subscribers.
• Seems like the show will be in live streaming style, with MC ?
• Ideas that were talked about are sports/exercise (Mizumin), Cooking (Mayuu), Band (Niinan)
• There will be live votings using the function in Niconico, you can vote for members that you think did well.
• And the highest one for every instance will get "Ii na~" point.
• If they collect 17 points they can get something they wished for.
• It can also get subtracted in real life activities if they got late to practice, etc.

Rewards based on how many subscribers(?) they get:
500 : Fan Meeting project
1000 : Training camp Livestream project
1500 : Original goods (making?) project
1700 : Solo event project (event with them all doing something in-person, not livestream)
2000 : Tandoku (independent) Live Project (like concert)

Secret rewards (50,000 people) : Tokyo dome live project??? (possible, Mayuu heard from staff)

There's also a time limit, if 1 year later they have less than 2000 subscribers, then the research lab (the show) will be closed down.

The first episode will be on July 10th, 19:00 JST ! (I'm assuming it will be weekly every sunday)
featuring all 11 members of 17ki.

 

This is really exciting, I was hoping the KKS would get an opportunity to showcase themselves like this. The idea behind the show is interesting, especially the rewards. Come on 50k subscribers!

short summary :

This time with Mayuuchan (assistant MC), Sorara, Aichan, and Kokko.
Kokko is as low tension as always, maybe another Paruru in the making?

First part is Sorara-sensei (self proclaimed 17ki Kenkyuusei Ota) explanation of the cute unseen part of the members present.
Sorara's presentation is adorable, as well as the members info as well.

• Kokko is overall cute, on their first meeting Kokko was shocked to learn that Sorara is older than her. Her reasoning was basically she's shorter = she's younger.
  Kokko usually gargle twice because she found the mint taste of the mouthwash "delicious".
• Mayuuchan, is nowadays more often called Masaru by her batchmates. She eats a lot before lessons/practice, especially omelette onigiris. She recommends it to everyone.
  She's also very kind, and always help slower ones on learning dance moves. Mayuu said it's all part of her name, since she has "yasashii" kanji in her given name and therefore raised that way.
• Aichan is just adored by Sorara. She often says "Munishi" (literally means 624 - 6/24) as an easy way to remember her birthday.
  A recent happening is when they went out together for a meal, Aichan had pizza fell over her white one-piece, then proceeded to wipe the stain, creating even bigger stain. Sorara found this really cute.

The rest is basically Sorara fangirling over a few pics.

Subs count : 752 subscribers for now. up from 686 the last time.
A bit slow increase , hopefully it will be even higher soon.

Video is about the recent Hanashikai where the 17ki are given individual slots compared to the 11 in 1 slot before.
Apparently Kokko doesn't want to do the Ape-face monomane during hanashikai, she asked the fans to do it instead.
Sorara seem to have an even brighter personality off-camera, she's just holding back due to preserving her idol-ish image.

Also there's some kind of special right to apply for 17ki Kenkyuusei Theater show shonichi for the NicoNico Plus subscribers.

Dang, I wish I have the sub on niconico to see the paid part.

Oh next episode will be on August 9, quite a while from now. Maybe they/Hiroyuko will be busy with some other projects.

I'm looking forward to A4 with the 17th gens. Especially opening song tadaima, crescendo, faint, seifuku ga jama wo suru (hopefully it keeps it place in the lineup.) the costumes are really cute too. Considering the investment DH is making with the wonder 17th we may even get updated costumes.

Hoping they get to 1,000 subscribers soon. I subbed last night. It's really easy with a basic or premium nico2 account and payment with PayPal. It's only 880 yen per month, less than your Disney/Hulu bundle. Sure theres only 3 shows so far but we get better content on 17 lab. Where else will you get in depth explanation from Eriko about her stinky feet? And the following week have her teammates impersonate her and her princess attitude

It's been quite a long break, but the 17ken show is back again tonight at 19.00 JST!
Also apparently the featured member got changed for this episode,
it's now stated that it will feature the share house members : Kokko, Erichan, Hotechan, and Mizumin.

So the 4 of them basically have a pajama party, playing games and chatting away.
First come their favourite food/drink introduction:

• Kokko : Kirin Lemon (she drinks 2 cans per day) and candies (the strawberry-shaped candy)
• Erichan : Water. And Usuyaki Senbei (Thin Japanese Rice Crackers), her absolutely favourite food.
• Hotechan : Soda water and shrimp-flavored usuyaki senbei (influenced by Erichan). Also some ball-shaped japanese cookies.
• Mizumin : Melon Cream Soda and Yoghurt, and candies.

BTW Hotechan decided to change her 17pt goal reward from Takoyaki machine and Redbull things to "Soda making machine" since she just loves soda so much.
Erichan is keeping a photo diary of Hotechan's daily soda drinking habit.
Takahashi-P wanted to put it on the show, but Hotechan strongly refused. Since currently many of those are taken just after she woke up.

Erichan said she is limiting snacks but others said she's always "going to start tomorrow" (never start it). Furthermore, for her sweets are not snacks so it's fine to eat those

Then after some snacks they're playing the card-acting game that was once featured in NaruTao channel with team 4 members. It was all cute! Kokko was certainly the winner with her always-on poker face.

After that it's time for update on Subscribers count.
They reached 1026 subs!!
Which means they'll get the training camp livestream project.
(Dear management, it's been a while, so please invite Sugai-sensei and Makino Anna-sensei again for this camp project. )

Small info here : Kokko and Yukinee are left-handed. (why are left handed-people so cute? Yuiyui, Naru, Nagi, etc)

Another relatively yurui/relaxing episode :

Yukitan is the assistant MC this time, with detective theme cosplay, because she likes detective roles in movie and anime.
Nonchan with the red riding hood cosplay, because she just finds it cute.
Sorara with black cat cosplay, because her fans said that she looks like a cat.
and Yukinee with angel cosplay, because she wants to be as cute as an angel.

Basically the introduction is just the girls enjoying the snacks/sweets while MC is explaining the systems.
Cute mogu mogu haishin! Damn those looks good too, they actually ate them all quickly and got refill while an error happened later.






First corner is Sorara-sensei's Monthly Sorara, lecturing on the present 17ki members' cuteness.

She's so cute with the cat ears and the glasses! totally a win for me

Short summary of what Sorara thinks of the other three:
Yukitan

• Yukitan is just a ball of cuteness, she knows how to appeal with her cuteness, especially when taking photos.
• She's like a big sister, always realizing if someone is sick or down, and will say something.
• Recently she often urges highschool students members to quickly go home when their legal time limit comes, saying something like "You'll get arrested if you don't go home soon!"
• All in all, she's the cute big sister of 17ki members.

Nonchan

• She may appear the youngest but very reliable, even more than Sorara herself.
• Sorara is thankful that she teaches her a lot of dancing moves.
• Always pay attention to others, always try to talk with someone if she notices the person is alone.
• She's in junior high so she has to go home earlier but always practice tons at home.
• She's good at talking, can make any talk interesting even though she doesn't really try to.
• All in all, she's young like a baby but she's totally reliable! (Sorara, again, find this cute)

Yuki / Yukinee

• She looks cool but actually has the innocent and loveable side.
• For example, she always bring tons of various snacks/sweets in her bag.
• Recently, a chocolate snack got crushed, melted and got everywhere in her bag including her pouch.
• Before lesson she always eats a lot, salmon sushi and chicken. Usually finishes just right before lesson time, sometimes complains that only one more food item left.
• She drops her food a lot.
• Cool and Cute, perfect gap moe onee-san.
• While having these assortments of quirky actions, she's also kind and very good at dancing.
• All in all, she's an excellent person that looks cool but is innocently cute as well, anyone can speak easily with her.

Bonus : about Sorara

• Sorara always use princess-like clothes
  • She argues that those are just because of the laces part, that she personally likes.
  • Therefore it looks expensive, although in reality it's cheap
• Seems to be good at shopping (choosing good-looking clothes with cheap price)

Next corner is the subscriber count, and......

for the first time, it went down. It was 1026 subs before.
It was surmised that people unsubscribed because the first month reward was already done.
They promised to do even more to gather more subs.

For the 500 subs reward, a Fan Meeting with the subscribers is scheduled on Sept 17

The theme of the Fan Meeting will be about Summer Festival, members will be wearing Yukata.
There are interactive events and recording time prepared, as well as presents for subscribers that will be there.
Seems like it's for subscribers only? We'll see.

She really wants to do it when told by Hiroyuko that they are doing the fanmeeting, she basically said "Please leave it to me!" .
Therefore, she's allowed to handle the performance order, casting, content etc, even Hiroyuko is not aware of the end result yet.

Interesting point :

• Masaru looks like a capable person on organizing their group
• Members were trying to hold tears before the performance so as to not ruin their make-ups, also confirmed that they knew about Niinan leaving. They hold the tears by looking up.

• Masaru and Yukinee basically said they regret not spending enough time with Niinan and knowing more about her struggles, but she will always be part of 17ki.

  They got the meaning right though! Quite a good number of them like sushi.

Overall it's a very fun episode!

Subs fell below 1,000. Announcer (ijiri?) dismissed it as end of month, but I think show should feature more members at a time. This is most likely out of their control because of the need to still be cautious with members and their useless plastic masks and dividers.

I know 17ki need to grow on their own but maybe adding a senpai on alternate weeks would help. (nagi? Onishi?)
