Pardon me, but if there is a top 7 and then next 7, how do they choose out no 15 and 16 because there are 16 members who are fighting for the quarter finals? Something I've missed?

Like I posted before, maybe there's only 7 blocks, then round of 14, quarter finals with 6 members and 1 automatically goes to semi finals. If they still use usual format, I don't know where the hell 15 and 16.

Thanks, but it sounds weird. We'll see. Maybe it's all rigged.

    14 members is doable.

Once there are 8 members in the quarterfinals...
Lose 3 straight - center of the coupling song
Win 3 straight - center of the main unit song
    [hehe]

Eh, I believe the reason there are qualification rounds for SG members is that they already have double chances of appearing in an AKB single and since their own groups are smaller their chances of Senbatsu are also higher. You have SSK and Janken single spots up for grabs in both A and B sides, and AKB girls only ever get to be in AKB releases (which sometimes they can't even get to be in because SG songs are in order for that single). Team 8 girls get a B side in every single release except SSK and Janken, and the Kennin girls have a zipline to the event as well since they are AKB. AKB is also the biggest out of the five. I think it's a fair exchange. I wouldn't sweat it. Besides, if every single girl got to participate in the finals, it would make for a long and tedious event and that's never a good idea. AKB girls also need to weed out each other in the theater prelims, even though the amount of girls that pass to the main event is bigger.

As always, I'm looking forward to see what crazy ideas the girls come up with for their costumes. It's the single best part of the show. I mean, there's no make or break moments like in SSK so if you don't make it to the ranks you don't need to worry that much. There is much less to worry about in Janken so why do we need to worry about who gets to participate? I want some new funny skit like the Great Kojima War of 2015.

I always believed that the AKB48 Janken Taikai was an AKB-first event and that's why the sister groups get smaller representation.

    :p

Thanks. Now you can see why there are fewer making it to the main tournament from some groups. Each person moving on is selected from a preliminary of 6 or 7 (except NGT with four prelims of four each - 16 total). HKT only has 40 entrants, so only six make it through.

Sister group members work handshake events for their own groups AND for AKB so they deserve the chance to appear in AKB singles although that's generally limited to 6 SG members in management picked senbatsu.

And only ever work for AKB releases.

Nobody is saying that ALL group members make it to the finals, just that AKB full members have prelims just like the SG members and qualify proportionately to the Janken and not simply get a free pass.

Since the event is not tied to an AKB single anymore it doesn't need to be slanted in favour of AKB members.

Anyway, yes Janken is always fun, especially the entrances. I just hope it's streamed again this year.

Since there are more AKB members than other sister groups, proportionally, they "deserve" a bigger slice of the cake, don't you think? It's not like all of them get to be in the main event either. They eliminate each other before that. (I guess the word "deserve" is not really the right one but it's what I could come up with right now, I apologize)

Looks like it will take a while since some members are not yet ready.

Satopii! oAo this is exciting! But the AKB KKS rounds didn't have a big pool to begin with... Satopii is one of my fave KKS babies so I'm looking forward to see how far she gets <3

NoeP!!! NoeP for the unit. Please.
Well done to Rittan and Satopi too :)

I have mixed feelings about the unit. I would love for Tentoumu and Dendenmu Chu to have their own singles a la French Kiss, no3b etc, as units, so if they make a unit for this single I'd love it to be for more than a gimmick. I just miss the units. :p </3 Still an interesting idea here though.
