TV / Radio AKB48 no Uta (2022/05/21 - )

It was announced by Mukaichi Mion a new AKB48 drama featuring its members, AKB48 no Uta, broadcasted by Hikari TV.

The plot will be an adaptation of the lyrics of AKB songs. Five songs, ten episodes, one song selected by the fans.

I love this idea! One of the things that got me into the group was their elaborate story lines for their music videos, and i always imagined how it would be if they expanded on those storylines. I'm so excited for this!

There's no point in doing another MV show.
Saishin Kiita is allready on it.

Here it sounds more like AKB48's past work around songs, like So Long or Give me 5.

Also assuming the 5 songs are all main single tracks, i wouldn't expect to see something similar to what has allready been produced.

 

Oshibe to Meshibe to Yoru no Chouchou is going to win the fan vote because "KYYYYYYYYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA YUUNAA!!!". Wait and see.

 

A-sides for this show? Are we all prepared for Teacher Teacher drama version? /jk
Anyway, I wonder how close the 'adaptation' will be. The drama MVs we got in the past, regardless of length, adhere to the lyrics to very different degrees, sometimes not at all (Manatsu no Sounds Good drama version — wtf is that lol).
If they stay close to the lyrics, I just hope they choose lyrics with different themes/tones/settings for some variety (and that the final script is good, ofc).

Suddenly had an idea: It'd be great if they just drop the AKB new single here as one of the songs they adapt. It really is time for a new single...

I made a twitter thread of rough translations of each story. (I know twitter is not ideal for this information, sorry.)

Some fun ideas in there! I'm interested in who wrote Matenro no Kyori, a story about a girl who went against her parents wishes to become an idol, and now regrets it, wishing to return to her peaceful days. Also Namida Uri no Shoujo, which is about a girl with a seemingly dazzling life but deep down has no dreams and nowhere to belong.

Ai no Sonzai is a realistic story of AKB falling to the bottom but still wanting to keep going and climb back up with the power of dreams, friendship etc. lmfao Do we need another show of this narrative?
