What BBC tv did with a lot of their music shows like Top of the Pops and The Old Grey Whistle Test was to record a groups tracks live during the rehearsal and then on the actual tv show they'd have the singer/group mime to the track that they'd performed during rehearsal. So it was sort of live but sort of not.

One thing that people tend to overlook is that when a group is putting out a live cd/dvd, they're taking the sound direct from the mixing desk so naturally it's going to sound better than what the audience hears. As you say, the acoustics in some venues can be awful but what the crowd hears isn't as pure as what the engineer is hearing.

Then of course they can do overdubs in the studio afterwards and use other recording tools to "clean up" the sound. Pretty much every group does this anyway, it's not just an idol thing.

 

Just finished watching the blu-ray concert set today and greatly enjoyed it (especially Mariko-sama's return!). I did notice an odd discrepancy in the running times listed on the box though compared to actual running times of each blu-ray. While most concerts I have bought seem to have minor differences in running time (like 2-3 minutes), both discs 2 and 4 of the blu-ray set were way off. On the box, disc 2 was listed as being 1 hour 57 minutes, but in actuality was 1 hour 25 minutes, and disc 4 was listed as 2 hours 24 minutes, but was only actually 2 hours. Around a half hour time difference on each of those......was there anything cut out of the concerts that anyone knows of, perhaps at the last minute so the times didn't match, or is this just a random error in printing.

 

You are missing the exta videos. Just press menu several times at the end of disc 2 and disc 4.

 

Are they continuing with this stupid hidden files?

 

@Joe I can't quite figure out how to do this. When the disc ends playing (or I press menu shortly before it ends), it sends me back to the main menu, the one where you select between "play all" and "chapters". I tried hitting the menu button there (close to 50 times in one attempt), with no luck. My player keeps telling me that operation is not available and nothing happens. Am I missing something?

Ah, never mind, I figured it out. To help others trying to find this, it takes a very precise button press of the pop-up menu button at a specific time to start the encore videos on disc 2 (at 1 hour 24 minutes and 58 seconds) and disc 4 (at 1 hour 59 minutes and 47 seconds). Basically listen for the moment the crowd is getting thanked right before the members start leaving the stage.

Hi. Does the BluRay version of this year's RH (both 200-100 ver & 100 - 1 ver) have the usual audio commentary by the members?

Why did they use Yokoyama Yui as a replacement for Nakamata Shiori for songs performed by Oba Team 4?

 

Probably because she's the same generation as most of Oba 4, which was only 9th + 10th gen for quite a while.

And with the album being released on the 21st, I suppose they'll perform those just no never perform them again, just like Tsugi no Ashiato's.

I wonder if they'll do the whole 200 thing again with the last day in a bigger venue and all.
