Who was the senbatsu member who got sick and missed the MV shooting so that the manager had to find a replacement at 2AM?
Looking at the year it was released, might be Mayuyu or Sayanee?

 

My bet would be one of those two as well. I compared the senbatsus and the only additional member is Owada Nana (which checks out), and the members that were removed are Takamina, Miichan, Mion, Yuria, Mayuyu, Sayanee, Rie and Sae.

Takamina and Sae were both on the brink of graduating, and although Mion and Yuria were both senbatsu staples at this point, the others were still bigger members. Miichan was a senbatsu member more for the sake of nostalgia at this point already, which leaves Mayuyu, Sayanee and Rie.

I really liked Erii's attitude regarding hate comments. I'm sure they must get to her here and there, I would imagine it's impossible not to, but generally that is the exact attitude one should have!

Also that Miichan story will never not shock me. It makes me wonder if her career would've changed at all if she had remained in the front line then.

 

It cracks me up how Chiyori keeps mentioning her exp as senbatsu member for HKT48. And the single that comes to my mind is hatsukoi butterfly, not even a single release but an HKT48 original song included with typeC eien pressure lol. I refreshed my memory though and chiyori was indeed senbatsu for HKT first major release suki suki skip (and sakura tabetta) before going to the kyushu variety vault.

The punchline though, good enough for Hakata but gennin in Tokyo. #justiceforpiyosu

I have one specific gripe with the way these kinds of episodes have been done so far. Multiple times they've pointed to a certain member and said "if only you did this, surely you could become a senbatsu member", or something to that effect. It annoyed me here particularly in regards to YuAmi and Hattsu. YuAmi has been in the group for almost 10 years, and is 25 years old. Right now, it seems like senbatsu is locked at 16 members, most of which aren't interchangeable, and YuAmi isn't even close to being one of the more popular members. She will never be senbatsu. Hattsu is younger, so it's not out of the realm of possibility for her to be senbatsu one day, but her chances are very, very low. Hiyuka was also mentioned in this section of the episode, but she is being pushed, so naturally she will be senbatsu one day, so that's fine. But even then it feels kinda mean-spirited to pair her up with members who will probably never make it like she will. I realize this isn't that deep, and it's part of their jobs, but it still must not feel great for the girls to be put in this position. When Ayanan said she got mad at the survey question "what do the senbatsu members do better than you, since you haven't been selected?", I'm assuming she said it for laughs, but I wouldn't fault her if it had, indeed, upset her. We all know senbatsu members very often don't do anything at all better than non-senbatsu, they're simply more popular or liked by management. I love the senbatsu members, I guess I just wish these episodes were truly focused on giving the less popular girls screen time and showcasing their skills, instead of going for some sort of fake sympathy for their situation.

 

Imagine that every Pepsi commercial was like this: "Pepsi! We're not as good as Coca-Cola but please try us!", what coke would you buy?

That's what DH has been doing with AKB since... God, I even forgot how many years. They're always comparing AKB with other groups and genres by diminishing them, and with the non-senbatsu members they do the same: "Why are you not as good as a senbatsu member?". Because those were the ones you selected and we still don't understand why. Gerência escanifobética e patética.

I always knew Satomina was a gaming otaku, but by the sounds of it, she seems to have a proper addiction that interferes with her getting work done on time. Personally, I've often wondered why she hasn't been selected yet because she is very pretty to me and seems to have good confidence in front of the camera. I dunno if I'm reading too much into it, but I really can't fathom another reason why she isn't senbatsu yet.

For Chiyori, I think management (as well as fans) have decided to give her a certain persona and decided to stick with that. She has a really good voice, I happened to find this video the other day of her singing Let It Go from Frozen on AKBINGO:

And honestly, I also think she's incredibly pretty. They literally have the entire package in Chiyori, but they're only focusing on her variety skills, which is so incredibly reductive to her whole person.

Haru-pyon at least is getting more fans, she's one of the few people who have sold out any slots at all, so that's good for her. Hopefully she'll eventually become another Mogi Shinobu (in that she gets into senbatsu late rather than never).

I can also totally understand Ayanan's frustration about asking them a question like this, it's really unfair. Especially also if you think about some other members who aren't senbatsu but are popular, pretty and have the skills, such as Sahho etc.
