She can remain raw volatile as a member rather than being burdened by that title then.

Wow. A HUGE shakeup in the AKB48 member management...let's see how Mion can handle once the transition happens. And when will that happen?

And why is Yuihan passing the baton of the Soukantoku role to Mion?

You have an interesting point there.

Maybe, just maybe, Juri simply didn't want to be soukantoku.
From my perspective this job is mainly about being a PR person and some kind of counselor for the other members. In short everybody and their mom complains to you, and i could imagine Juri to be the person that says 'Nah, I can't be bothered with that.'

    Somebody should ask her ^^

I beg to differ about Juri. K-pop fans watching Produce48 said they sensed leadership from Juri without knowing she was a team captain in AKB, without any background knowledge on her. The scene she stopped Bibian was a clear evidence of her leadership. Despite stoic expression, she also appeared as a grateful/considerate teammate to others, especially Yena, whose photo became her lockscreen photo. (Also, she seems to be kind bestie to Mako and reliable senior to juniors in her Team B.)

Anyway, it should be clear by now that she fell far behind Mion in term of passion/determination for GM position and has been going after something else. She is possibly debuting in Korea. Produce48 is just an indication that her mind was set on something else, that she lacked a key quality, the strong will to be GM.

Mion has had opportunities here and there to demonstrate her leadership. She already has experience leading group huddles and being in charge of the megaphone just like Takamina and Yuihan. Maybe she's had other opportunities but we just don't get to see it on camera.

Maybe AKS know Juri more love another group than AKBG. It correct me if I'm wrong reporter ask what your akb favorite song?
    Juri answer Keyakizaka46 song.
I think is written somewhere ..Juri said she does not want to be soukantoku and she will graduate if Yokoyama Yui graduates...

I think maybe GM is friendly ppl too. I mean you can interact with members or staffs or Mc of other program too.

Or you don't worry soukantoku position because importing job is AKS and Aki-p.

I like the idea of them performing all the A-sides.
Some of them barely see the light after they're released!

Also, they spread very well the performances, so everyone got to be part of a few performances and even center some!
Ikumin centering UZA and BwT? Hika and Hattsu in SayoKuro? Seichan in KwM? Tomy in MSM? Cho in Heart Ereki? I am shooketh!
I need to get my hands on this LOD asap then.

The Mion as next Soukantoku is a bit meh.
It was really a Takamina thing since she was there since day 1 and everyone else were her kohais, but I guess we haven't seen much of Yui's work due to the lack of documentaries and such. Ohwell, good for Miion!

    Team concerts at last!
I'm so happy for the eitos because they're going have their own concert and also be in A, K, B and 4 (and in some of those, the eitos are half the team! dd) :^^;:

Not surprised about the solo concerts at all.
Yuiri is the theatre no megami, Moeka is the next big thing (this time for real?) and Berin sells well and has to show off her prowess to the peasants.

The promotions though... is it that hard to finish promoting the 16th gen before they get to the D3?
I understand that Maichan is useless and will probably never be promoted, but Nanami? Saki? Haruka? Freaking Sato Minami that proved herself in P48?
Seems a bit gratuitous and just for the sake of creating another "OH NO, MY JUNIORS ARE OVERTAKING ME! LEMME CRY!"
    Mess.

Mmm, I think any of them will answer the same if asked by a korean fan. That is part of the fanservice :|

At least they didn't promote all D3s. Those three are arguably the best performer they have. Still a bit raw for Moeka I will say, but her HS result is amazing.
For the rest jyuurokki, maybe I need to watch the recent KKS stage or that KKS concert. I read conflicting result regarding Satomina performance.
Btw, why they don't announce the promotion at the concert  they at least will need Moeka and Fortune Cherry fans to see the concert.

For the solocon, beside awarding those three, I think it also serve as "test the water" experiment for the management. How strong those three are, and how good they are on stage by themself.
Now I am a bit worried about Rin. I guess Yuiri will pull it without many difficulties, and Moeka is so fresh that some mistakes will be treated as "it's okay, she will improve with time". But for Rin, tbh I think she is a great support member :^^;: she did some solo stage performance this year in Ibaraki, but to perform by herself in a solo concert? Hmmm, should ask her friend Rika.

They will. The promoted girls will still perform with the rest of the KKS at the concert.

    https://ameblo.jp/akihabara48/entry-12424668415.html

If promotions were based only on performance ability, half the members ever would never have debuted as members. That said, the remaining 16th Gen KKS not named Mai, and most of the D3 KKS, are better performers than Erii was when she was promoted. :XD:

As for Satomina, yeah she flubbed pretty hard during her first Yukirin Produced stage. One time. But she has been pretty solid since. And highly genki while performing. Like, having the time of her life as she performs genki. :D

Back in days, Juri clearly said she aims to become GM and lead the Young Member concert. I really like Mion, but she isn't the leader typ. I think it is just because Mion and Yuihan spend more Time with each other than Juri and Yuihan. Bond as a team mate is stronger...

I just hope Mion manages to so better than Yuihan. The girls need professional individual dance and singing practice. And a lot more gigs, CMs, etc

That's out of the GM jurisdiction though.
They can ask management for certain things, but management can simply say no.

Yui has been saying for a while now that she wants AKB to stand in Tokyo Dome again.
And yet... they haven't been there since 2014. And if they didn't get it for Mayuyu's graduation, I don't know what will push the fans to go to a concert that, according to some users here, is not as enjoyable as seeing the girls in smaller arenas.

Management knows best in some cases, and having a half-full Tokyo Dome would do more harm than good both to the group and the fandom.
I understand Yui's ambition to show that the current AKB is no less than the old school, but her approach just doesn't work.

I really hope Mion knows where the problem is and that AKB (and all the 48 groups) need to focus on what makes them different other idol groups: the theatre.
