Mion didn't make it in the end, the points difference was only a couple 100k...

    Here are the final rankings:

Lots of Eitos there, so I am very happy. <3

Because Harupyon already qualified via the Event Ranking, third placed Hinana gets her spot from the members ranking.

Mion always on the first rank after the prizes, it is the same as in the very first month. :(

Damn, Mion was battling for third spot with Harupyon for a while. I'm sad she didn't make it cause she's one of the few members who's already accustomed to AKBINGO and variety. Berin really caught up as well.

As a Team K oshi, I'm also interested in which team members are part of the show. I'll make two lists, one that includes Team 8 members in their kennin teams and one for "pure" teams.
    • Team A (4): Okabe Rin, Oguri Yui, Shitao Miu, Yokoyama Yui
    • Team K (3): Kuranoo Narumi, Hashimoto Haruna, Shimoguchi Hinana
    • Team B (2): Otake Hitomi, Sasaki Yukari
    • Team 4 (3): Okada Nana, Murayama Yuiri, Yamauchi Mizuki
    And then without Team 8...
    • Team A (1): Yokoyama Yui
    • Team K (1): Shimoguchi Hinana
    • Team B (2): Otake Hitomi, Sasaki Yukari
    • Team 4 (3): Okada Nana, Murayama Yuiri, Yamauchi Mizuki
    • Team 8 (5): Okabe Rin, Oguri Yui, Shitao Miu, Kuranoo Narumi, Hashimoto Haruna
I sometimes can't decide if the team kennins for Team 8 were a good idea or not. On the one hand, it pushes the other teams a bit again, but also you can see that the popular members are, for the most part, still Team 8 members. I wish it was more even.

Here are some thoughts I have about the elected members...
    • Naachan, Yuiyui and Yuihan have a lot of AKBINGO experience but to be honest, I'm not sure they were really great on the show. They're all fairly quiet and easy-going.
    • I hope that Hitomi, Harupyon and Hinana are really into variety and will make it lively. I can't remember ever seeing them but considering they invested so much time in this event, they must really want to do it and have a lot of confidence in their variety skill... I hope? I remember Hinana on AKBINGO, but the only real memory of her I have is that episode where she wanted to make up with Goto Moe.
    • Sasaki Yukari is part of the same generation as Iwata Karen, Tano Yuka and Takahashi Juri, who I quite liked on variety. Also Hirata Rina and Muto Tomu, but I don't really remember them.
    • Maybe they'll make use of the three Team 4 members. Naachan and Yuiri are a very popular ship, and Zukkii is often considered their daughter. So that could be interesting.

I know but it doesn't show you the exact rank nor the amount of points they have.

Did they get it via data mining? Or is there an easy way?

Yeah, from what I can tell there's no way to see that from within the app. Must be some data mining of the app or hooking into the API from the server.

A lot of the members who ranked in are really quiet. Hopefully they get a good MC who can get the most out of them.

Would have loved to see Miion and Yukirin rank in as they are popular and reliable, but it's also good to see some faces we don't usually see.

Looking forward to the show. The more the merrier.

I mean, they got 5 out of 12 spots. Aren't there as many of them as almost the other 4 teams combined?

That's exactly what I'm saying. In an ideal world, out of 12 girls across 5 five teams, you'd have 2-3 from every team. But Team 8 is more popular than any of the other teams, it is what it is. Team 4 is second with a fairly big gap and I know I'm one of the very, very few Team K oshis...

To be honest, I can understand why they would let the fans vote, but I would not expect the fans to vote based on who would be most suited for a variety TV show, they vote based on other criteria, so in a way this is a kinda dumb way to do your selection.
I'm pretty sure the selection for the original AKBingo (well, the episodes when the show was firmly established was) we pick a few good variety types, then add in some of the really popular girls to have a good mix of them, but also a interesting program.
(or pick popular girls and add in some variety types ... order doesn't matter)

And banking on nostalgia isn't all that smart imho either, you always will be compared with the old shows and the 'everything used to be better in the past' syndrome.

if you do nostalgia ... it's better to go full out ... i.e. old sets, old hosts ... if not, do something really new

but for now, AKBingo had a good run, let it go for a while ...

I have no idea about the size of those states so I don't understand that analogy. I can only imagine how big California is, but then I also don't know how many senates there are in total.

There are roughly twice as much Team 8 members as any other team. I guess this is a bit skewed to compare because there's 5 times as many Team 8 as Team A or Team K members (5:1) but only roughly twice as many Team B or Team 4 (5:2 and 5:3) members. It'd make more sense to compare a line-up that involves more members from each time, like a concert senbatsu line up or something.

Sorry, I mean that the current team sizes, without double counting Team 8 (according to the wiki) are:

    Team A - 16 girls
    Team K - 13 girls
    Team B - 14 girls
    Team 4 - 14 girls
    Team 8 - 43 girls
    -----------------
    Total - 100 girls

So if you're picking 12 girls at random from them statistically speaking there would be:
    5 from Team 8 (12 x 43/100 = 5.16)
    2 from team A (12 x 16/100 = 1.92)
    2 each from B and 4 (12 x 14/100 = 1.68)
and 1 from team K. (12 x 13/100 = 1.56, but only 1 spot left and they have the lowest number)

So it looks to me that the only team that is overrepresented is Team 4, while the only underrepresented is Team A.

(Although if you want to be completely accurate, Team 8 is slightly underrepresented, Team B is slightly overrepresented, Teams A and K are quite underrepresented, and Team 4 is very overrepresented)

It's the same reason Team 8 won the first Sports Festival. It's much easier to win or get selected when your team is more than twice the size of any of the other teams.

Well, Team 8 had 41 members, the rest 55: 42.70%.
5 out of 12 is 41.67%. But since we're discussing the regular ranking, it should be 5 out of 10, thus 50%.
11 out of the top-24 are eitos: 45.83%.

Team 4 had 3 members in the top-10: 30%. 25% with the other two included.
They had 14 members in the event (14.58%), 25 if you included the eito-kennin (26.04%).
But for you to find their 5th highest ranked member you need to go down to the 26th place (3 eito kennin not included). And their 11th best ranked member is in 75th. Which means that even though their percentage of ranked members in the top-10 is greater for their total number of girls, that's mostly because they have YuuNa and Zukkii. Everyone else is far behind.

As for Team K, they had 12 "pure" contestants (12.5%).
Their best was Tomu, ranked... 25th. Their 5th best was Kanabun in 69th place. Finally, their 11th highest ranked member was Ocarina of Time... 92nd. Most Team K members are below 69th.

No, Team 8 won because they had far better athletes. It's not like they played 20 against 5. Yokomichin, Moeri and Nagi ran faster than the others, Ikumin jumped higher and they were all excellent with a skipping rope.

    P.S.: Montana.

I personally think AKB would have been better off if Team 8 had not been integrated and become a full fledged sister group. Their inclusion dilutes the spotlight too much and regular AKB members don't get enough attention. Kinda like the Kennin problem. Team 4 being only an AKB team may have been a mistake also. Were I master of the universe, I think I'd make Team 4 a sister group as well for special groupings of members across the 48 groups, like an on-going Team Surprise that can switch members in an out depending on the need or who's available for some extra work.
Anyways, even though this cast might not be the best for a variety and the way they went about picking is a little terrible, I'm getting hype nonetheless and am pretty sure it's gonna be great. Hopefully great for several episodes but if only a few then at least that's something more than nothing.
I can't think of one oldschool game or segment that completely exemplifies Bingo so if it is meant to be short-lived I don't see them pulling much from the past. If it is to be a long-running show though, I'd like to see a greatest hits of the old ideas brought out, if only for an episode or two.

For those curious, the United States Congress is split into two legislatures (law making bodies), The Senate (upper house) and the House of Representatives (lower house). To try to boil down the differences as succinctly as possible, the House of Representatives suggest things and the Senate makes them official, it is much more complex than that though. The Senate is meant to give each state fair and equal representation so that no one state can dictate the laws of the land and is also seen as more prestigious. There are 50 States with 2 Senators from each State, so 100 Senators in total. The House of Representatives takes the other approach and adjusts it's seats based on state population with representatives being elected through districts. The maximum number of representatives is set at 435. Hearkening back to the previous example, California currently has 53 of those seats and Montana has 1

The girls have matured since WRH ended bingo for good. Hinana is really funny and harupyon has really come into her own. Watch the mini live on YT that was in Fukui during the premature reopening and her personality really comes across.

Regarding segments just bring back the cringe classics: 80 degree slide into shallow powder, kuro-chan sweatty azz into harupyons face, cream canon, slap on the head, ijiri fast licking and maybe everyone will finally leave the waifu abusing show back in heisei where it belongs.

Team 4 was initially created probably because the 3 main teams were full of big names and management wanted to give a chance for new gens to shine after being promoted rather than become background members in those 3 teams. So they made Team 4, there was the first one and the second one, both times it helped the girls to get more popular. However once they started doing team shuffles and the popular girls graduated, Team 4 looks just the same as the other 3 teams now...

As for Team 8, I used to wish for them to be separate to have their own name and their own singles, but that was back when AKB was still doing well and still had a lot of popular names. Right now AKB needs the Team 8 girls and I don't think it's a good idea to remove them...

I feel like there isn't a solution to this, maybe the best thing is to get rid of the team system... Team A, K, B and 4 feel all similar, and some of those teams have too little members, or not enough popular girls. Maybe they should get rid of teams and make all A/K/B/4/8 as just AKB members. Maybe Team 8 can still get some activities together separately because they have the whole concept of prefectures etc. But overall everyone would be just AKB member. it's not like they perform at the theater so much anymore anyway, they could just do special stages with different line-ups etc. AKB needs some kind of change to have a new start...

About this show, I hope it's more than one episode. if it works well, hopefully they can officially have a new regular variety show but with a new name, it will feel more official and "fresh".

tbh i think disbanding the teams would be better in the long run for the group. they used to have a meaning and identity with the stages and the bonds between the girls, but now that stages are dead in the water and shuffles/moves are so common (well not necessarily common nowadays but they happened frequently enough in the past to dilute team identity), they've all become just arbitrary groupings of members with no real purpose besides splitting the whole group up for performances like in request hour. for the sake of maintaining the promotion i'd say keep team 8, but otherwise i think the rest of the group can just be... one big group lol. maybe even call the merged teams team 4 and then they'd have team 8 so it'd match lmao. because unless they bring back the stages or at least try to create some sort of identity for the teams again they don't really do much except split the group. and well, it'd be a good change for the group imo, especially since they're in desperate need of change for about every aspect of their concept lol

back on topic though, i'm really excited for the episode! i'm happy zukky got in, and though the winning members may not be a specifically strong variety team, i'm excited to see what they can do, and how the episode will be executed. i'm just hoping it isn't like, a normal regular episode of akbingo except like a one time thing if it makes sense? like i'm hoping they do something special with it (just hoping it isn't full of references to akb in the past though cuz that'd be annoying lol)

There are rumours that Sanshiro might be the hosts for AKBINGO Neo. They talked about that they did multiple hour long recordings for a "yet to be announced idol show".
Let's hope they meant this show because that would also mean there'd be more than just one episode.
