Here's the first issue of the AKB48 fanzine DO THE DANCE! You can find the fanzine here as a double page spread PDF document (that you can even print out yourself) Or if you rather read it on your mobile phone, here's a single page version (even though it's designed to be read as double page spread). The files are rather big because they are highres, so no preview, sorry. You have to download it. I might do a version with less quality in the pictures if a lot of people ask for it. I was considering posting it on Isuu (issu.com) but I was afraid to get a copyright claim. Happy reading! I hope that it was OK for me to make a new thread. Otherwise mods are welcome to move it to the old "Fanzine Project" thread. EDIT: Here's a Heyzine Flipbooks version. EDIT 2: I got some help from donjonnie with some typo's, and worst of all, while editing, a big part of the last paragraph of Matto's article about NMB's brand new stage got cut (which I should have seen since it only had one picture in the previous version of the layout). It's fixed now, so make sure to read the full awesome text in this updated version! l even put a small "SEE YOU IN THE NEXT ISSUE" on the last page so it's not as confusing as before. EDIT 3: Here's a compressed version, 78% smaller than the highres one of both the double page spread and single page version. Both can be read in the browser without downloading the files.
Hi, and congrats on finally releasing the fanzine! 48 pages for the very first issue is certainly iconic! Very enjoyable to read with the nice designs for each page. Also loads of contents you have gathered, with variety of topics! I especially like Heyzine flipbook version, easy to load for me. Just finished this one and looking forward to the next one!
I was so surprised by how professional this looked, you did a really good job! It seems like it will be a great resource to give to people interesting in learning more about current group.
This is amazing! I can't believe that this is fanmade! If there will be a next issue, I hope that it'll include some MNL bits especially with their recent anniv, 4th gen, and 8th single
Hi @donjonnie! Thank you, and thank you once again for the posts I had so much fun editing in the fanzine! When I had around 35 pages done, I thought for myself "why not make it 48 now?", and some days later there I was. Thank you, and I don't think future issue's will have that many pages, but this first issue felt important. I hope I get to use more of your posts in the future, and maybe even some exclusive's? Oh, and thank you for the list with the errors that are fixed now. I'm so happy you like the various topics I managed to fish up, things I'm personally are interested in and thought people might like. I didn't know about Flipzine before (didn't really research, only knew about Isuu), and I agree, the pages look really cool presented this way. I only wish the text was more highres and not so blurry but it's still manageable to read. I'm so happy to hear that @IbarakiRose! I'm happy I was managed to surprise you with the layout and texts! You are very welcome to spread the words on socials and people you know that might be interested in reading it! It's perfect that you think it's a great learning experience you can get from it Thank you Shinga Kurukato, that's amazing to hear as a fan and struggling designer! Personally I only listen to the Japanese groups and don't know anything about MNL (but I will check them out), but I might manage to find some content for the next issue, because I already was thinking about doing more even before I was finished with this one. Maybe you yourself is up for the task writing some stuff about MNL48? If so - your'e welcome to contact me in a DM or at dothedanceakb48fanzine@gmail.com
I had no idea what to expect when you reached out to me but this turned out 100x better than what I was expecting. The presentation is so good that it should attract people regardless of the content more new ship content
Thanks for the heartwarming words @otabe, it put a big smile on my face I'll make sure to use more of your posts for the new ship section in the next issue (that I have started with already, but it will be smaller than the first issue sadly, and fewer pages overall I think).
I've been meaning to comment on this fanzine for ages, so apologies for the delay!! But I really love it - the graphic design in this fanzine is spectacular, and I really appreciate the care that went into these articles. You can see this was made by someone who really cares about the current AKB48 and wants to see them thrive, with intricate details about the members. I love that Sahho got a dedicated section, Mahopyon's magazine appearance (I actually own that Larme copy now!) and Yuiyui's drama role. I really love NMB's new stage and hope we get a studio recording of the songs, so I was happy to see a whole section dedicated to that. Additionally, all that space dedicated to the members of 17th, 18th and 19th Gen, who are naturally the future of the group and need to be promoted well. I hope the next issue can continue to talk about Hoshikuzu Telepath, now that there are also fansubbers providing English subs! It'd be great to promote the group like this and gain new fans. Thank you for all the effort and I appreciated reading articles from members of the forum I respect a lot, such as @David61 @donjonnie and @Mana ! I also had people on Okada Nana's discord mention this fanzine to me to say they found it on Reddit and noticed my username on the bottom of some articles, so this is definitely being read by people outside of this forum as well ^^
No worries @bonjourmarlene! I understand that some things come in the way, life and such, hehe. I really appreciate your informative and long feedback! It feels amazing that it have spread to places I haven't thought of, like the discord for Nana (which I should join since I'm a very big fan of her, loved her album that I couldn't buy faster). So cool that you liked matto's article about the stage, it was a fun read and enjoyable to layout for. Since he live in Japan it feels awesome to have someone report about the live events and such. I'm also so happy to hear that you loved the first issue and saw that it was designed with love and care with the articles. So thankful for ranapxious that joined me at the finishing phase and wrote about the new single and the news article about Sahho. Great that you liked my small news snippet about Yuiyui's new drama, I tried to make the news personal, so it wasn't much about the show itself though. My fellow Swede @Yumenotobiira that wrote the small Mahopyon snippet (jealous of you, cute magazine) will write an article/review about the first episodes of Hoshikuzu Telepath, and I'm thinking of having a picture of Itomomo and Airi on the cover to promote the drama. Though, I had to go with the English title Stardust Telepath for the layout to work. I don't know how big the NEW SHIP section will be this time, I decided to split up the online talks with pre 17th gen and after, and that looks pretty nice to have the online talks in two sections. Thanks again to those you mentioned, and you yourself for letting me use your posts in the fanzine! ^_^
This is SO AWESOME to see! Yuiyuihan's post about the fanzine on X have soon reached 10000 views in only two days. I'm so happy to see that people are looking forward to the next issue and are enjoying the first one.
Thank you so much @x_lambs ! Have you checked out #02 as well? The site was down when I released it so I have not been able to promote it here.
