The new drama with AKB48 members will lstart airing on 06/25 and is broadcasted weekly by TV Tokyo at 24h30 JST (catch up on Tver).

It is an adaptation from Okuma Rasuko's manga "Hoshikuzu Telepath"

Original manga scenario:
Konohoshi Umika is an introverted high school girl who has lots of troubles to communicate with other persons.
She imagine herself living on another planet.
One day she meets with a new student, Yu who pretends te be an alien and have some telepathic powers.
Both girls promise themselves to one day go in space and decide to build a rocket to achieve their goal.

The teaser looks fantastic (beautiful music and setting), I can't wait to watch the drama!
I have been waiting for a new AKB48 series, so if we don't get any new Majisuka or Majimuri I'll take anything, and the manga and anime have gotten pretty great reviews it seems.
A GL sci-fi drama with some new gen girls looks really promising!

 

Just got to watch this,
this video is actually by the original author of Hoshikuzu Telepath, Ookuma Rasuko (大熊 らすこ) herself!
She even has her VTuber avatar wearing AKB's costume, can you guess which one?


She put quite an effort and put everyone's profiles on her powerpoint slides, and went through them one by one while getting more, deeper details from fans.
She also nicely draw connections between the girls' details and their roles, some matched pretty well!
For example, she told the drama staff to change the goggles if it doesn't seem to be realistic, but she was surprised they found a girl that matches Matataki Raimon role so well even the goggles nicely fits her:


Her hyped up style of speaking is pretty unique and overall she seems to enjoy learning about the AKB girls with each of their unique cliches provided by the fans.

She hasn't met the drama casts at the time of the livestream, but she is planning to by using her "original creator exclusive rights".
Apparently some characters didn't originally have names and she gave them names for the drama.
Also some characters are still secret, like Mizumin's and Ayane's, for avoiding spoilers.

Interestingly, she is from Stardust Promotion and has been on stage with ItoMomo before (when she was Kitano Nana).

There are times that I remind myself that itomomo is an AKB48 research student and not some actress hired for the drama. that beauty is amazing and her personality fits so much with the talkative alien. I had second thoughts about airi before seeing the show. I knew the character was socially inept student so wasn't sure the ace of the 17th gen a future star of AKB48 could play that role convincingly but in two episodes i think she is doing great! and I said already how perfect i think sora is for the landmine tsun tsun Raimon Matataki.

For a show about space travel (not really) there isn't must travel but the yuri is moving at lightspeed! I have to think that fans of the anime and adaptations not really fans of AKB48 watching this show must be thinking "AKB48 has girls like this now?! everyone so cute!"

I'm curious how difficult it must have been for both leads. Airi the current ace has to work intimately with what could be her nearest rival. Itomomo, still a research student, must act directly across from the solo center charged with leading the group into the future.
