no wonder he wanted to retire....

but wtf.......there are other players with big wages there, and they are not contributing to any of those staffs?

against 10 men and you are still focusing on defending? you get what you deserve sweden

Japan-Senegal was one heck of a match! 2-2 at the end, though, so no one advanced. Glad they drew because if one of them won, they were hoping for a Poland-Colombia draw...but Colombia trashed Poland 3-0, and all of a sudden the best-ranked team in Group H is already ELIMINATED with one more match to play (Japan has yet to face Poland)!

I mean, what in the world has happened to Poland???

In other news, England won on a 6-1 blowout over Panama.

I guess they rely too much on Lewandowski... Anyway, go Japan!! Poland is already out, so it's better (at least in theory) to play against them now.
Have you seen its speed? Somebody sign that kangaroo! ;)

Not yet. Gonna have to wait until tomorrow to find out.

Anyways, about Germany...what in the world has happened??? They only needed to score a goal, but instead, they GAVE UP TWO GOALS to the Koreans...

Absolute shocker. From champs in 2014 to dead last in group for 2018. Combined with Hamburger SV (Hamburg) relegation from Bundesliga, and so far this year, what has been going on with German football????? :fp:

Japan advances on fewer penalties, the so called fair play tie breaker.

"Unbelievable. For the first time in the history of the World Cup, a team has advanced on the fair play tiebreaker. Senegal and Japan finished level on points, goal differential, goals scored and head-to-head, but Japan finished with four bookings to Senegal’s six."

"BOTH Japan and Senegal finished level on points, but it's the Japanese celebrating qualification to the last-16.

Despite falling to a 1-0 defeat to Poland, their African rivals were beaten by the same scoreline against Colombia.

This resulted in them having the same goal difference and goals scored - which as we know, means the process moves onto fair play.
Japan picked up FOUR booking in their three games.
But Senegal wracked up SIX , including one today for M'Baye Niang.
That has cost the Africans their place in the competition."

Yeah, congratulations to Japan for making it to the Round of 16, but I have no confidence they're going past that since both of the teams that JPN could either play - Belgium or England - are far superior over the Samurai Blue.

But I do also have to feel bad about Senegal, being the first country to be eliminated from the World Cup in group play all because of yellow cards. And, as expected, people are debating all over this. Now, all of a sudden, playing cleanly and fairly is part of the game as well.

I mean, can we start debating about international soccer competition (e.g. World Cup, continental competitions such as Champions League and Euro/Asian/CONCACAF Gold Cup/Copa America) fair play rules here?

    Japan!!! :awesome:
They had been playing quite bad of lately, so it isn't such a huge surprise (besides, the goals of South Korea were scored when the Germans were attacking desperately). Some say the problem has been that (once more) the coach chose the 'experienced' players instead of the young ones...
Agree. Besides, I'm sure the ones complaining now would support it if it had benefited them. Now they have four years to change the rule...although I'm afraid they won't move a finger to make it... [hehe]
