That was such a huge surprise. 1st gen senior member who's never ranked before and had her name called. I'm really hoping she ranks

Nako looked so sad/worried IMO when Miku ranked in the prelims (or she might have looked like that the whole time, but the camera wasn't focused on her)... but then Nako got called a bit later too.

 

lol I paid attention to Nako's reaction because of what I read on Twitter. Easily the most agonizing looking face in the team. She had the reaction the entire time imho, not just after Miku. Let's admit it though that it would be a really bad situation if one ranks and the other doesn't.

 

It was a really good showing for HKT today! I'm sure a number of them will unfortunately drop out without ranking but even just making it into the prelims is a boost of confidence and shows you have dedicated fans that care.

Biggest and most pleasant surprises for me are Wakachan and Yuriya.
Wakachan is definitely one of the most underrated original members, great in performances, funny and always tries hard. I still remember someone posting way back when about HKT's second Pajama Drive performance where she was the most outgoing and leader like member.
Yuriya is a girl I really like, I try and decipher as much of her G+ posts as I can every day. I never once thought she'd be popular enough to rank in the prelims at all, let alone so high.

Hmm, I just watched this today and I wouldn't call it a smirk. She presses her lips together and looks thoughtful. Probably because she knows her fans push pretty hard at prelims. It was VERY cute.
The more interesting face was when she was actually called. The camera stayed on her for SO LONG. She's clearly worried about a repeat of last year.
Best reaction has to go to Miku though. The combination of collapsing, literally rolling across the floor, and then moving to bow was amazing.

 

I wouldn't say she was smirking. You could tell she was just incredibly nervous throughout the whole Top 16 ranks until she was called. Like Parikkuren said, she was pressing her lips together a lot because she was worried.

Rivalry

 

HKT has the best reactions. Mikurin rolling on the floor and attempting to bow lol.

 

She wasn't smirking at all, that's her usual nervous face. Besides, Miku rolling around like her fuku was on fire was way better.

 

Overall, I agree. HKT girls reaction are definitely the most...interesting, among other theater. You could tell most of them are honestly in disbelief.

 

I checked out HKT girls who ranked in prelims last year, but didn't make the final SSK ranking.

Just looking at this year's list, and with the inflation caused by phone votes, it's safe to say anything below 6k votes will be anyone's guess if the member will make the final rankings.

 

I hope Tomiyoshi makes SSK. She is interesting, pretty and sings well, but never seems to gain popularity.

 

I think Yuriya is almost a lock to rank in. I only recently started to notice her because of all the photos she has been posting on her G+ of her walking around the closing Hawkstown mall. I was mostly just interested in looking at the abandoned mall though. LOL.

 

Are we having a HKT irc chat room like last year for the election tomorrow?

Where is the chat room?I'm considering watching the ssk again this (seem like the time is not as bad as last year for me unless I got the times wrong) and chatting with other fans while watching it was one the main reasons it was fun!

No scratch that,the ssk will still at a bad time since it will still happen in the middle of the night and I'll have to pull an all nighter!I'll still see!
