Last weekend I went to Comifuro that can be regarded as Indonesia's Comicket. The anime con returned after 2 years hiatus due to covid pandemic

It attracted over 20000 people, more than thrice of JKT48'S 10th anniversary concert that attracted about 6000 people

So it can be simply concluded that MAG are the most popular Japanese pop culture products, not Idols like South Korea

In Indonesia, there's a significant rise of otakus or weebs last few years

However, I hope JKT48 can see the potential of gaining more new fans. Maybe JKT48 can do these:

1. JKT48 members cosplaying MAG characters
2. JKT48 members especially those who are still good at singing, covering anime songs
3. JKT48 to collaborate with any Indonesian vtuber group like Hololive ID or Nijisanji ex ID or even braver one, creating a vtuber sub unit

Maybe you have any other ide

P.S. yes, Genshin Impact isn't from Japan but it gets an anime adaptation by a Japanese animation studio

 

OOF I've been away for awhile due to workload, all I want to add is that JKT seems to be BOOOKED everywhere. Istg every month they have at least 2 offline performance and at least one tv performance every two month. They recently nominated in AMI but lost (some say it's due to the channel favoritism). They also released new photobook for this month, it was cute and a little bit scary I got myself a copy to be able to video call with Marsha.

JKT will have upcoming meet and greet (Replacement for handshake event) in 7th May 2023 at SMESCO. I'm really happy because it's close to my home but unsure if everyone could fit in smesco (unless they will be using the first floor hall)
