The 1st generation members were announced on November 17, 2018. Unlike the other 48 Groups, SGO48 is named after the former name of Ho Chi Minh City, which is Saigon. I guess Vietnam has potential for its own future idol industry because AKS is not the first agency I see trying to do things there. I’m not a big fan of the name but it’s not the worst of the 48 family haha Can’t wait to hear KFC I. A new language
Is AKS ok oh my god. I’m interested to see what comes out of this but at the same time the current growth rate of 48G scares me a little.
Another sister group from southeast asia. Edit:: Its seem unprepared announcement to me, why didn't they announced in SSK concert to make some hype?
OMG MUM48 and AKB Team SH haven't finished their audition yet, TPE48 has financial problem, MNL48 is messed up, and we got another overseas group. In SEA again! I wonder who will be kaigai member for SGO48 edit: what the color is that? is that shocking pink?
Well this is ... unexpected? A little unnecessary at this point? ^ Mainly because all of this. Handle the groups that there are before launching another. JKT and BNK - established. Working to a large extent. But that is two of six, with two more not even properly functioning yet. Hell, that could be argued for all of the remaining four... That said... I know that I will end up following the girls once they debut, like I have with basically every other group. Vietnamese will be an interesting addition! Welcome to the 48G! What is the music scene like in Vietnam? How would an idol group be received there?
Really, I wasn't expected that this thing will happen. Sadly, I don't think this group will get success in Vietnam, most popular artists are soloists, idol group in Vietnam only popular in late 90 - early 2000 (I'm from Vietnam), so better expected Vietnamese version of Shukan Bunshun .
They probably saw how well the BNK is doing and how successful the Sekai SSK was that they want to tap into as many markets as possible? I am not that surprised, tbh. Sekai SSK is probably here to stay as well. Ramadan should not interfere next year with it, so that's JKT joining. MNL, MUM, now SGO.. AKB CHINA as well? That's a lot of votes (aka CDs).
yay akb sg in my native language! First thought I had was omg it’ll be fun to join and maybe meet my fave idols, as an idol if sgo48 has collab events with akb. But then reality kicks in and I realise I’m kinda old to be an idol, can’t sing & dance & don’t even live in Vietnam lol
i knew this was coming ever since NCT vietnam but i didn’t think aki-p was this fast lol. anyway, reations will be mostly doom and gloom about VN’s music industry, but i think they have a chance if management can learn from past SEA successes and mistakes. which means absolutely needing a stellar 1st gen like BNK and staying far way from MNL’s terrible kpop mash-up audition method
I don't think I have a correct answer about this, but Vietnam is not really rich. By the way, before, AKB48 already kind of popular in our country, but their popularity only rise up after the PD48 was announced, they gain more fans (mostly, K-pop fans).
Just yesterday I was trying to predict the next sister group. I considered Vietnam but my money was on Singapore. Oh well. Out of curiosity, what do you guys think will come next?
I'm shocked by this news! It's so random. I was hoping it'd be announced via a concert or something like in the past. Anyway, I'll still support them from America like I do with the other sister groups. I'm hoping those that are not yet as successful as BNK, (MNL & TPE) they get help soon before SGO48's debut. The pink is supposed to represent Vietnam's National flower of the Lotus. I found that info on AKB48 Daily. And, obviously, the next sister group I'm hoping for is for Sapporo since that has been on everyone's mind for the longest time. Malaysia is another good candidate. Also, interesting that there are 7 International Sister Groups and only 5 "home" Sister Groups. Does that mean we'll get more? Lol. What am I even thinking? Unless you count the Sakamichi Series?
