Is this signing of so many books a common occurrence?

 

Yep. People pre-order the books on the publishers website and then the idol (in this case Nana) will hand the books over to the fan personally at a store event. It's like a mini-handshake event held at a bookstore. There's usually at least 2 or 3 of these events to launch a photobook.

With the book release so imminent, a question for the thread: Does the success of a member's photo book depend on
1. the size of her breasts and
2. the amount of skin she's willing to show in bikinis/lingerie?

It certainly appears that way to me.

 

It shouldn't be too shocking that there is a horndog market to tap into within the Idol world.

I'm more of an ass man myself, but even I have to admit that Owada's bust is very impressive.

 

With the huge success of the top Nogizaka girls (eg. Maiyan), question 1 doesn't always apply

 

I say good for her to be honest. She knows what she's doing, and she's confident enough in herself to do it proudly. If she can make a living simply off how beautiful she is then all the power to her. It's not like she's doing AV. She keeps it classy.

 

I don't know of any ex-AKB members that went on to become gravure models. (It appears that many gravure models are very very well-endowed and you don't see that particular body type all that often in AKB. After all, the members are all pretty much professional dancers and it's difficult for me to imagine a girl could dance AKB-style for years with a gravure-type body.) Is anyone thinking that if this photo book is going to be the huge seller that many of us believe it will be, that Naanya may consider a future as a gravure model?

 

No, and the success of girls like Sakura, Haruppi, Shinoda Mariko have been top gravure models without having big boobs.

Nogizaka girls have show skin though, that's what Maiyan's big photobook became known for.

Hirajima Natsumi, Umeta Ayano, Sato Seira (SKE), Kaneko Shiori (SKE).

Also, they don't necessarily have to have huge books to succeed in gravure either, Morikawa Ayaka released 6 gravure DVDs and was very successful.

It's a definite possibility, I can see why companies would want to hire her to release gravure DVDs. I don't think she'd be exclusively do gravure though, she'll probably still do acting, CMs and fashion stuff too.
