She was pushed by the management but fans aren't that receptive to her.

And with this, they sure aren't going to be more receptive.

Good riddance to “fans” who drop a girl because of something like this. They won't be missed.

They won't be missed, but she does need their money & support if she doesn't want to be replaced by a newer gen

Does she really though? We always assume that but I wonder if it's still true. Probably, but not surely. I guess we'll see.

Do you think a member can only survive by management push? And would management keep pushing a member that's been "forsaken" by fans?

No, I think the days when a substantial amount of fans care if a member dates are years behind us. The people who still care are a loud minority but a tiny one. That's my impression at least.

Perfect timing (or not). She is one of four featured members on this week's AKB48 SHOW, which focuses on the SSK.

I think that's Jo's problem especially. I don't think she has that many fans in the first place, so some fans leaving will be substantial for her.

So anyone has the rest of the details? It was supposed to be released on Saturday but I don't want to give Bunshun any more views…

I mean, what exactly are you looking for?

    - They dated for a year and a half
    - Jo would sneak out and stay at his place, he would stay at her place after she got her own apartment
    - Her parents found out, told NMB and forced her to split up with him but they got back together after Jo decided to hide the relationship
    - He found out about her other scandal with another guy which I guess pissed him off so he went to bunshun

Conclusion: She's pretty nuts but the guy is scum.

Also, caveat that the guy could very well be a massive liar and/or bunshun is lying.

Going by past scandals Bunshun don't usually tell out and out lies, it's usually the Cyzo level or below that are pretty sketchy. Bunshun do seem to vet stuff before publishing.

As you say, the guy is scum but Jo should grad straight away.

My conclusion: The "Love Ban rule" either needs to go and the girls who date do so openly and let the fans decide how they feel about that or the "rule" stays and those that break it and get caught get punished in some way.

I don't know what reaction to click, I agree strongly with some parts and disagree with others. But for sure the rule needs to go.

The thing is the rule officially doesn't exist. It would be hard to have a clear punishment policy without making the rule official, and that is probably illegal.

AkiP is on record more than once saying the group doesn't have such a rule, but that has zero credibility when members say it does regularly in various situations including TV.

They should really get on with the times and get rid of the rule for good, and NMB with the strength of Yoshimoto is probably the group in the best position to take the lead on that.

Probably a lot more than you think.

On the other hand groups that don't have a love ban (at least the ones I follow) also almost never talk about their relationships at all.

Actually it's probably less than we think, since most people seem to think most of them are dating secretly. I'd suspect that more of them are in the "working hard to be an idol" school than we think.

RKA is right in that who wants to hear about some chicks relationship woes? Who wants some jilted boyfriend turning up at a handshake event or theater causing embarrasment? Who wants to spend thousands of yen on some chick who's publicly dating some dirtbag?

And I think in a lot of ways the RKJ protects the girls in prominent idol groups. If it wasn't there and girls did date freely then you can guarantee that lurid "sex life of idol" stories would be common in the tabloids and and dirt-blogs, nude and semi-nude "revenge porn"-style pics would be published and posted online (just look at the Tulisa from N'Dubz case or the SKE kks who had a bj pic show up) . The thing is most of the girls are in their teens or early 20's, they are in the public eye but (most of them) are not well paid....they aren't in a job where they can easily survive stories like that getting out.

Anyway I don't want to derail the thread any more than that.

Yeah, someone "caught" her in Osaka station walking with a guy. There's a lot of holes in the story not the least of which is that Osaka/Umeda station is the busiest station in the entirety of Kansai (would be top 5 in Japan probably) and I know she's dumb but she can't possibly be that dumb to be dating in the middle of it.

seems that way, won't complain at all that they have
last few years seems that management has been taking that course more and more

if they were going for measures it would've shown during the tour i think... like no MC's no center positions or unit songs

My impression was Azusa had a better position than Jo in the B2 Hiroshima show but that got flipped over in the U19 show so I don't really know.
