Announced at NGT48 Grand Open Shonichi 2016.1.10: NGT48 to star in the drama adaption of Higurashi no Naku Goro ni. Starts airing in May 2016 every friday, 9 PM on BS Sky Perfect. There will be a total of 8 episodes, 60 minutes each. An audition will be held for the main cast.

Isn't too early to throw them into acting?

 

thats the pattern,
it seems every time new group formed, the promotion getting earlier, while they still have the money.

 

I read somewhere else that they will just participate in an audtion for a role in that drama.

So it will be a drama with lots of NGT members in it or it will be a dram with just one member of NGT?

 

I don't think it's decided yet. If we look at past dramas 48g could audition for, it might only have one or two spots for NGT girls. It's ultimately going to be up to the director and what he sees in the girls who audition.

 

NGT48 official site has updated the details of their upcoming TV drama "When They Cry - Higurashi" (Romaji: Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, Japanese: ひぐらしのなく頃に).

The Live-action TV drama "When They Cry - Higurashi" is predetermined 8 episodes (60 minutes per episode) and aired on BS Sky Perfect TV in May 2016, first episode will be free, and episode 2 to 8 will be for BS Sky Perfect TV subscribers only.

I've just had a look at every girl's practice video (I skipped the audition ones for now lol) and my favorites so far are
Reinya, Rika, Ayuka, Miharu, Rena, Hinata, and Ayaka.

I especially liked the changes from Rena's (the Higurashi character) bubbly personality to her crazy / serious side from some girls.
This is also why I liked to watch the door scene practice videos the most. The other scene was quite awkward to watch sometimes haha

Now I will eagerly wait until February 27th!!!

 

What is the third option next to the girls' picture, like a form of balloting? I wouldn't want to see this turn into a popularity contest if I'm honest, it could be a good opportunity to discover the actresses amongst the group rather than who has the most fans right now ^_^

Higurashi was one of my favorite anime series (I love visual novel as well) so I really hope they really won't mess up this one.
Another reason to stan NGT

If KatoMina didn't got really better than what we've seen her do in her practice video, then I'm not really happy about this decision. Her acting game wasn't strong at all I'm happy for her, but I hope she got a lot better!

I'm happy about Reina, Rika, and Hinata though. I liked their acting a lot and there were among the girls I was rooting for

 

Mostly happy with these results but yeah, they were painfully obvious and predictable picks. I said it would be all push girls with one slightly less pushed girl. Glad that girl is Reina.

Fingers crossed and hope for the best.

 

Push aside, and SKILL ASIDE... most of the casting "seems to fit" the character...
yes, i can see Katomina as Rena, and Rika as Shion/Mion... and specially i can perfectly see Moeka as the "mysterious girl" (If this mysterious character is who i believe that it is)

 

I would love to hear them sing the original opening from Higurashi. The cast choices were predictable but I am definitely not complaining.
