This second Oricon article says they had 2nd week sales of roughly 35,000 disks (approximate figure given), for a two week total of ~511,362. This is a better second week than Futari Saison (25,523; Keyaki's 3rd single), and almost as good as Fukyouwaon (36,558; 4th). Also just above Hadashi de Summer (33,241; Nogi's 15th single) and below Sayonara no Imi (38,592; 16th).

Note: I am not comparing quality or popularity between groups, just establishing benchmarks to ground our pride in Hinatazaka46. Many things can affect sales in a particular week, including national handshake schedules and competing singles. And Hinata sales are built on a high foundation established by both Nogi and Keyaki.

I felt great pride in the group for its performance on Utacon. They sang live and not to their recording but to a live orchestra. They sang well and danced well. They were very responsive in talk portions and in performing with older singers, and were polite, quick, cute and neat/pretty (I'm thinking of the word seiso 清楚, which I've seen used to describe Nogi). And they gave off a wonderful Happy Aura. The host of the show said he had become an Ohisama.

I and the host were both impressed, when Nao was demonstrating the KyunKyun dance, at the way the other half-dozen members in that interview just naturally sang the song softly and beautifully behind her. The three years this group has been developing may seem long, but they were not wasted: the group bursts onto the scene already at a high level of competence. Link to Utacon video (four short videos will play one after the other).

Lol. Also true. She has presence equal to a whole group. People were discussing on 5ch who was the cutest member on Utacon and Mao-chan got some votes for her strong presence. I liked it when the camera showed her alone, but from the waist up, so as not to get her wanderings. By the way, after many members had been mentioned, one poster summed it up by saying cuteness is "mass-produced" in Hinatazaka. One poster was floored that the group could seem so skilful and at ease in this high-end situation.

EDIT: In her blog, Enka singer Ishikawa Yukino talked about Utacon and credited all the members of Hinatazaka by name, posting a pic of herself with some of them.

I feel in general Aki-P stroke gold with Sakamichi than 48G family.

We might have three Sakamichi groups in the future who will sell 1M copies for singles in the first week. Hinata should keep pushing, Nogi should maintain their large fandom and Keyaki should gain popularity for 2nd gen and more work from 1st gen than ever before after the split up of Gana slots.

Exciting times ahead for a Sakamichi and Hinata fan.

Just saw the exact Oricon disk sales total for week 2: 35,454. This makes their two-week total 511,816. In their second week they dropped to 4th place. But looking at daily rankings, they are now back up to 2nd, with a daily sales total (for Monday?) of 2517. Kyun keeps selling.

I'm just talking about disk sales. The combined disk+online is different (43,165 points, 3rd place for week2).

It's a joy to see more and more live versions of Kyun appear in the past few days: Utacon, Laguna, Melodix...and soon Music Station! They do have it down pat.

Memi's 5ch thread is boiling with disappointment and baseless speculation. The word "graduation" is even mentioned and her relationship with Hirate darkly emphasized by a few. People want some word from management, or at least from another member. Illness (bad) and other important work like a drama (good) are the most likely reasons, it seems to me. Graduation is the least possibility. Shooting a photo-book somewhere is mentioned, but that's not likely to happen until she's at least 18 (December of this year).

lol ofc 5ch users will find a way to blame Techi in a situation that has absolutely nothing to do with her. Since Memi recently mentioned having a cold I don't think it's that far off to assume she's probably sick. Whatever it is it must have been something she couldn't get out of since MSte is a big deal and something the girls have been wanting to do for a while.

The first two Kyun handshake events come this Monday and Tuesday at Makuhari Messe in Chiba (near Tokyo). Monday is an individual event, Tuesday a "national" (i.e., pairs) event. Here are the pairings for Tuesday:

    Lane 1: Katou Shiho
    Lane 2: Saitou Kyouko
    Lane 3: Kosaka Nao
    Lane 4: Watanabe Miho
Lane 5: Kakizaki Memi – Kanemura Miku
Lane 6: Iguchi Mao – Nibu Akari
Lane 7: Takase Mana – Kamimura Hinano
Lane 8: Higashimura Mei – Miyata Manamo
Lane 9: Ushio Sarina – Sasaki Mirei
Lane 10: Sasaki Kumi – Matsuda Konoka
Lane 11: Takamoto Ayaka – Tomita Suzuka
Lane 12: Kawata Hina – Hamagishi Hiyori

Note the four members with individual lanes: Shiho - Kyouko - Nao and Miho. You can see in the post two above that it was Miku and Nibu who sold out in the first sales round. I think all the pairings are interesting, but Memi/Miku, Mao/Nibu, Mana/Hinano and Hina/Hiyori seem particularly intriguing to me. Twelve lanes in total.

EDIT: Due to unspecified illness, neither Memi nor Hiyo-tan attended
