    Oricon matters and it doesn't.

It matters because it's the go-to ranking site in Japan and I think people look at it to see how artists are doing.

For Oricon, SKE and NMB are going downhill while HKT is stagnant.

Oricon doesn't matter when it comes to the money management is making.

So what if they report they're selling 200k when they're getting the money of 300k?

By that standard, all the groups have stayed more or less stable (haven't really checked their Soundscan sales, but I guess they're still between 300 and 400k).

actualy this single amazing! Bagutte tooo childish, but not bad! 4gen and Platinum songs aaaamaaaazing! I really hate HKT choral singing...but 4gen girls voice soo pleasant for my ears. THE BEST HKT single ever. this single (except Bugutte) more... I don't know... mature? or... polished? and MVs more beautiful and interesting. but a-side soooo weak...

    Nice to meet you all!
just wondering, Is the sale number of this single good for them..
It sounds even less than their debut single with 200k sale at third day..

It is not. Those are Oricon's :poop: lowball numbers.

Here is two-day sales, according to Billboard/Soundscan.

    Thank you for your information!
Didn't soundscan only calculate the sale number only by the regular version? or they have changed? i haven't followed the chart for quite sometime.

For billboard, seems like they boost the sale for all 48G ...which is cool.

Billboard gets their number, in this instance, from Soundscan.

And while true that Soundscan did limit their counts in their old public reports to just Type A of the regular edition. Soundscan no longer publicly releases data, so this "limit" is no longer applicable. They have always counted all sales, and reported that to the industry, ie Billboard.

Billboard is not boosting the numbers. Oricon limits what they count. For instance, if you buy 20 cds, Oricon counts that as 20 cds. Buy 30, 40, 100 cds, they only count it as twenty. Foreign sales are not counted count. CDs sold at venues like concerts, not counted (this does not apply to 48G as they don't sale CDs at events). You get a more accurate picture of sells from Billboard than Oricon.

Though both are estimations. Neither is a perfect count. They base their data off samples actually, though they're probably fairly accurate.

Soundscan didn't only count type-A, but rather counted each sale separately. So each type was given its own sales figure.
They didn't count theatre though because they only used what they saw as music shops.

Thank you for explanation but i think soundscans count all versions of CD seperately except theater one (48 sister group normally sells ~100k on soundscans)
just learnt that they stopped puclic the number for a while now. such a shame.

I was just being curious about billboard so i searched for SKE and NMB sale number and they normally reach ~400k on billboard despite being low on oricon too.
so i said it's good that at least 48G can look cool on billboard... while oricon still is the most credible chart for Japanese ppl..

Well, there was no Music Station this week, but next week... Problem is that would be on the second week of sales...

The late-in the-week jumps we saw with previous releases is from the shipping of additional theater editions. Which are coming at a later date this time around. From page 20 of this thread....

the amount of sold copies after first day is kinda similar, so I think it's pretty safe to assume that this huge difference is because Oricon doesn't count sales above 20 copies per person.
