Hori Miona (Miona) / 2nd Gen

yo i have watched hot gimmick and tbh i like it more i thought i would. i had set my expectation low since its star an idol. sure the story is a mess, lots of unexplained things but its worth for the cinematography alone.
also hori actually isnt so bad here and she isnt even in my top 20 nogi list.
but i think this kinda movie style isnt everyone cup of tea.

lol I can't believe myself to sit this whole mess of a movie thorough if not for Hori. I can't stand a very Shoujo-istic material like this.

my non-spoiler thought:
It's good to see Hori so raw in her performance, to see how she approaches dumber-than-maaya(oh wait, hori is not that bright either in rl) with the twisted of self-deprecating character. she seems to me like the type where the more she is involved in acting deals, the better. she has the deep but more experience. the other cast overall not that bad from what i expected, mostly decent but their writing, whew. Every main character has their flaws yet there feel not so much room for each to convey in three-dimensional way.

An unlikely but artsy rendition of what could be Shunji Iwai and Tetsuya Nakashima--meet early Makoto Shinkai's stuff-- has done with a typical premise of shoujo manga, the director-writer Yuki Yamato never truly converge the incoherence narrative development unto something that really poetic, nor really touch the material and deconstruct it to a whole new level, instead the style just as kind of excuse for shallow storytelling of a gaudy young woman fantasy; a material that actually seems beyond saving of intellectualism.

I guess it's saved by none other of my bias toward the main lead beautiful existence, this really becomes the focal point from my personal view of aestheticization: simply holding your cuts effectively rather than always frantically exposed the images with abstraction; ruined the moments just for the sake of stylization.

hori: 7/10

When I first watched this, I just wanna see how pretty Mizuki. Then I started to feel a lot frustrated because Miona didn’t actually do much in this video. And yet at the end, I almost spit out my drink when she showed her drawing. I mean, other girls were bad but Miona was just so uniquely terrible. I guess we gotta love her because of moments like this.

I cannot wait for Miona to launch a full-scale campaign for her PB after Mizuki’s one has come out (she seems to have been holding back until now). Mizuki’s teases have been exceptional so far that makes me believe her PB will be the best selling first PB among all the member. And in the next one or two years, I predict that her second PB will beat out both Passport and Intermission. However, it would be a shame if Miona’s second PB loses out to Mizuki’s first one. Miona needs to step up the game. Goddammit.

 

If she wants to win from Mizuki, she'll have to show her sexy side. Miona's pb can be beautiful, cute and all that (and I have no doubt it will be) but there's no denying that a pb with an erotic vibe drives up the sales big time.

 

It's gonna take a lot to beat Yamashita's promo blitz. Not too sure Hori can be as bold as Yamashita.

I wonder why Miona has been really silent about her 2nd PB? Has she already done the photography? I wonder if management held hers back because of Yamashita's.

 

Miona's personal target is girls fans so i doubt she will show some sexy pic more than Zukki's but who knows. We don't know yet how much sales of Zukki's PB but i don't think Miona's new one would surpass it.

 

I really wanna Mizuki be my next oshimen after Miona has graduated but now that she is too OP, I am starting to develop some animosity toward her. Why does she has to move so fast?

Regarding Miona, I think she is pretty bold herself but she is definitely lacking in sexiness department. She is doesn’t have that sexy vibe with her. Not that I complain, Miona is all about pure and angelic.

With that being said, I am counting on the trend that all the second PB have doubled the sale of the first ones (this is kinda pressure as well cos it would be embarrassing if Miona is unable to continue this trend). So with her last reported sale of 70k, hopefully we can expect about 140k for her this time. That would equal the initial print of Mizuki. Assuming that Mizuki’s publisher was over optimistic and overestimated her popularity, Mizuki’s sale may never reach that height (Iirc Miona’s last reported print was about 90k but surely her sale never got to that numbers so there must be thousands of her PB copies still in circulation). So there may be still a small window for Miona to come out on top.

However, now that I know Keyaki’s Neru has 190k sale for her first PB. That kinda trigger me more than either Miona or Mizuki will win against each other. The ideal situation is that Mizuki needs to get about 195k to 200k just enough to beat out Neru while Miona SIMPLY needs to triple her sale to drive home with a modest 210k.

 

@tpt13 Aren't you overthinking it? It think it's better not to see it as a contest, but as two members who release a pb that fit their image/style. As long as the end result is good, and the sales are fine for both pb's, everyone wins.

 

@Seditious85: well, maybe I am a little too excited but I believe there is always some sort of competition behind the screen. It is the same of getting into the Senbatsu or being chosen as the center. Getting many handshake lots or high sale for the PB are all part of the competition. Of course the competition among the fans maybe even more intense than how it actually is among the members (I guess we just can’t help it).

 

I think it would be impossible if there isn't some sort of competitiveness, hide from the surface. I mean who knows. As long as things don't get the best of them, being jealous or bit insecure/anxious inside is fine. it is human, just normal stuff; it also a factor that drives excitement on work, and sales for the fan.

I mean one day you have one new fresh little cute kouhai to cuddle on but the next day they can take your spot. One of the great cases is when the girls still very supportive and big-hearted of each other amid the cruel nature of the bizarre world call showbiz.
