So I often see many articles in the internet talking about how 'perverted' and 'child pornographic' AKB48 'Is'.

Like I recently found this new article that looks like fresh from the head of a journalist:
    http://theodysseyonline.com/new-orl...-youtube-is-probably-good-for-humanity/384239

And I was both mad, laughing, amused, disgusted at the same time.

The facts were so baseless that it reminded me of a song that I made into a proverb.

'Don't build your house on a sandy land'

Cuz most Anti's of AKB48 actually.... make that Jpop Idols in general have mostly baseless or mythological 'evidence' to 'support' their article.

Do you guys every hear anyone talk **** about AKB48 (or Idols in general) and how Do you deal with it?

    PS:

    Give that man a HERESY!

I read it then I felt mad them(anti)
But I think in US(artist)Britney spear,Miley cyrus, etc and in Korea(no famous Idol) I mean A girl or women they dress a sexy in MV and TV music show too.

You know outside Japan. They still cross dress(sexy cloths) follow anime.
So they write these because they' re felt jealous AKB can sale CD 1million copy although AKB haven't talent about song.

I know many journalist version eng news. They hate AKBG(CD, HS event,MV,)

Some of those points are so ridiculous.

    1. I think that during Heavy rotation most of the girls were 18+, right? Or at least 17? I'm not sure why that should be a problem, considering the age at which western girls are sexualised. Yes, Jurina was young, but she was more of an outlier than the average.

    2. The lyrics seem harmless until you realise they're written by an adult man. This is relevant because?? o_O Do they expect 14-year-olds to write their own songs? This guy is aware that in the west not many artists write their own songs either, right?

    3. Male fans. Because we know that in the west boybands are most popular with guys and girlgroups are with girls. And how is the "Schoolgirls for sale" video relevant?

    4. Bad women's rights. Congratulations you made a point! :D

    5. Relevance? And how is this a different point on itself, when it's an aspect of 4?

    6. Again, relevance?

    7. Ok, now you're just making this up. "They have porn videos taking place on trains so these idols are evil!"??

    8. Congratulations, relevant point! Though the author himself here makes it clear that he knows the article is not about AKB: "The AKB48 girls don't have it much better" implies that it wasn't about these girls at all. And why do they have to bring miichan out again?

    9. So this one guy is against it, and says that TO HIM (implying opinion) it is legal child porn. Which means it is, and everyone should consider it to be so. With no evidence whatsoever.

So congratulations writer, 2 out of 9 points are accurate, and only one point that is relevant to AKB48, and that is the miichan scandal. Most of it comes over as "this country is different from us therefore bad."

Well, this is a typical stupid American attitude. Have tv shows and movies and video games with people shooting up everyone and people getting murdered left and right? 50 people murdered in a movie? 100 people murdeded in a movie? 100% ok. Absolutely no problem with that.

Show something with too much sexiness? Show a little nudity? Ban them from America.

This is why I'm ashamed to be from this stupid country.
When every few months there's a mass shooting, and yet you can turn on the tv at 2pm on a Saturday and watch Rambo or something on fox lol. But of course, guns and murder in television and movies does not affect young people's minds at all, but show some tits and all of a sudden they will become corrupted, perverted, and turn into a bunch of rapists. /smfh

There's something off about that too...
The emphasis on the "underage" term.
That term actually varies a lot... for USA underage is anything below 20... for most of the countries is below 18.
For Japan, technically is 18, but for drinking is 20... and the Age of consent (Legal age for marriage, What is kinda important in this topic) is only 16...
So if you can legally marry and have sex without being considered pedophilia at that age, it's kinda logic to have those kind of photos/videos, general portrait, etc. but if you take off those things outside their local context.. thing like those articles happens.

I've always been curious; to anyone that lives or lived in Japan at the time, was Heavy Rotation really so "CONTROVERSIAL" like these Western tabloid articles, and also people on here always say? If anyone can enlighten me, pls
Maybe it's because I was much younger when it came out but I've never seen anything perverted about it at all, I just thought "Cuute!"
I mean it's so joyful and colourful. Plus girls in underwear and bikinis are so common even in Western MVs, so I never got what the fuss was. Then again I also don't see what's so bad about grabia either, which people also freak out about like crazy around here, so maybe I'm the weirdo and female bodies are actually very shocking and disgusting
Pretty, smiling, hot girls sell well in pop music lol, they do in the US too. I guess writing stuff like this serves the purpose of evoking unwarranted moral superiority like "At least OUR half-naked twerking girls are *blabla*"

Btw the male fans thing is silly, it's not like boybands don't have horny teenage girl and aunty fans objectifying the members and being crazy in general, lol. If anything, those behave in worse, from my experience. I know a lot of Japanese people that comment about the older male fans too though, but I think mostly from the angle that the musical concepts are so girly and cheerful so it's funny to see older guys with the pink psyllium sticks and whatnot lol

^I can see how people can come to that conclusion about the west, but it has to do with age. Even when Britney Spears was considered "jailbait" she got a lot of flack, same with Miley Cyrus.

No, not at all. I've never heard a single person over there say it was bad, or "immoral", or anything that these puritan western tabloids have said.

Source: Me. lived in Japan 3 years (2011-2014), studied abroad in Japan for 1 year (2008), fiancée is Japanese (dating from 2009 to now), previous gf's were Japanese (2007-2009), probably ~90% of my friends are Japanese (2007 to now, mainly friends from study abroad students in university (i.e. from Japan not Japanese-American) and people I met in Japan).

So I've got about 9+ years experience either in Japan or pretty much always around Japanese people, and I've never heard this kind of bitching from any of them. At the worst, I remember one friend said AKB's really sexual, and they think nogi style is nicer. But nothing like this.

I love the idea that Aki-P writing songs for young girls is somehow creepy or perverted since as a troubled and angsty teenage girl, I found much more comfort in songs like I'm Crying or Dear My Teacher than I did anything released on this continent. So obviously, (perhaps through working with teenage girls and young women for many years and maybe even respecting them as hard-working humans with hopes and dreams and not helpless passive victims of sexual exploitation) Aki-P understands something about the Adolescent Female experience.

Idol songs are predominantly about girlhood and I can't think of any other genre of music for which that is true. Okay, I can, actually. That whole ARK Music Factory/Rebecca Black scene has songs about regular teenage girl things but the scope of topics is fairly limited. Hanging out with your friends, cute pairs of jeans, and having a crush on a boy, sure, but not so much wanting to die or chatting up old men because you're lonely or feeling forgotten by society or homosexuality or any number of honest yet unmarketable concepts that somehow have a place within AKB and idoldom in part because they're marketed to this awful scary perverse older audience that only wants to whack it to little girls. (SNH fans came out to donate their blood to Tang AnQi but of course you don't see any "WHAT THESE J-POP FANS DID FOR THEIR IDOL WILL WARM YOUR HEART..." articles about that.)

I think that's what gets me about these kind of fits I see "outsiders" having. AKB48's lyrical content shows a lot more respect for the complete range of 21st century girlhood experiences than any other kind of music. I don't care if it's primarily for the consumption of men, it's accurate and true and it was a huge relief for me to discover some of these songs. But even beyond lyrics, the reason I love idols is because they're inherently fighting an uphill battle. Show business is extremely competitive, the vast majority of them are not going to make it anywhere near the top, and they know this, but they keep going anyway even though the odds are stacked so high against them in such a shady industry. And on top of that, the fact that oddball underdogs like Sasshi and Kaotan can succeed in this crazy environment gives me hope for my own life. I wish these people who see U-15 Matsui Jurina naked in a bathtub and immediately flip out could recognize that.

lot of people hate or wont the death of AKB but in the same time this people use pornographie look movie with violence play video game if you can 20 millions by hour , so i suppose it's normal to see people die every day in movie and game , to have a lot of porn movie drug in MV or buy weapons like military force , but for AKB this is immoral ?(but cetanaly because asia is inferior and mad because everyone know the western is perfect system(joke))
so i love Idols because with her you have good mind in her song she is funny you have movie you can meet her and girls can be happy i she try to make her best , and for bikini Idols for my is model too , ok not for 14 years hold it's may be so young but for the 18 years old i don't have problem .(i not agree with all in "Idol land" but i really love her)
for the article i don't understand the point for the trains , in France the only time a see AKB it's on a tv channel (with j-music on) and it's sad to say but french have problem too and in train too , for the pornographic i'm not a expert , but i'm pretty sure the western have her humilate/rape porn part .
and for me i don't care about this people try to destroy idol industry or making think JP fans is all pedopihile , it's not because you 45 years you are a monster with young girls this is tottaly stupid to think this . and for girls it's what , crazy lesbians she wish kidnap her favorite Idols ?
i hope i don't have break rule i try to make mi best for undertood the new . it's what i think .

It is <18 in the US. Though you have to be 21 to drink, 25 to rent a car (weird, I know.). You can get drafted and sent to war against your will at 18, but no liquor for you until 21.

Age of consent varies from state to state. As low as 15 in some places, with parental consent. Federal law trumps local, county and state laws though. So best not to cross state lines for some hokey-pokey if you are <18.

Source, born and raised here in the US.

Most studies in fact support this claim.

It's comforting to see how a college newspaper written by undergrads is so similar to professional news agencies, or the Cracked staff, in that all it takes to be a journalist these days is just to google for the first trivia written by others in English and piece it all together into a poorly coherent text.
You guys are giving them too much credit to think they have some independent, established stance of their own that you can argue with, or to treat them as if they have ever tried researching anything for real before speaking. All I see is parrots parroting parrots and blindly perpetuating some third party's bias, which nullifies the whole point of writing anything at all.
Antis are another thing, it's like hooliganism and it's all fun and play as long as it's kept between wotas, who can at least say they have a clue on the matter. This is just garbage, like any stupid cliquey fight that gets co-opted and hijacked by outsiders.
