I don't know, back in 2010, youtube wasn't as big as how it is now, so Heavy rotation reaching 50million views in under 400 days, for a japanese video, is an amazing feat. also, downloads have become a lot bigger throughout the years, and we can see through itunes (for example) that saimajo has consistently been in the top 10 video rankings since the release. So, while i'm impressed with how fast it hit 50 million views, i'm also not surprised.

YouTube was still pretty big plus region blocking wasn't as prevalent 2010.

Heavy Rotation also hits that much as there was a campaign to make it hit 50 mil before Yuko graduate

It was pretty big yes, but not as big as it is now. Back then, a video reaching 1million in a week was an achievement, now you can except a video (from a relatively known youtuber) reaching 1million within a day. It's the "go to" website for videos in general. HR went viral and got AKB international recognition, for better or worse, But Saimajo was viral in mainly just japan.
But i didn't consider the region block thing, so you're right on that one. Considering that, i think saimajo hitting 50mil is a great achievement. But to be honest, i think any japanese artists hitting that amount of views in under a year is a great thing. Imagine how many views it would have had if it wasn't region locked.

The campaign was for it to reach 100mil not 50mil

Silent Majority is #39 on this week's Oricon chart, totally amazing for a song released 52 weeks ago. More than that, it has been in the top 100 every week but one since it was released. The Oricon article calls that "a startlingly long sales record for the debut single of a new group." And I wouldn't be surprised to see SaiMajo climb the chart this week, as it did when Futari Saison came out.

Dropping by to say this song is awesome. Happy to see strong competition from other sister groups.
The intro has trademark Keya song the few seconds you hear it. Strong vocals by Hirate and the girls. The facial expressions and dance choreo is impressive.
There's even a dream team version with some prominent members of other groups. The keya version is clearly more polished.

Good song, reminds me of .Hack ost - key of the twilight.

Love this cover: singing, performance, drama, and shooting. But Techi is still The One. She makes the meaning come alive. And it hurts a bit, natural as it is, that if there were any royalties, they would go to the composers (Bugbear) and the lyricist (Aki-P), and not to any of the Keyaki-chans who made the song a hit.
