I hope she gets better. I trust all the spicy stuff she has eaten over the years will help combat that nasty virus. Hope you get well soon, Gekikara!

Really hyped to watch episode 5 of Promise Cinderella tonight! Kikuno still scares me but I'm smitten by her plus I'm actually pretty hooked on her creepy evil background music.
In case yall missed it, the Promise Cinderella's IG posted some behind-the-scenes photos of Rena from the shooting of episode 4 (with Iwata Takanori posing in the distance :XD:):

Editing because it hasn't been 24 hours yet :XD:
Rena tweeted! She's uploading a YouTube video tonight talking about her recovery experience.

This is the video mentioned in the previous post:

There are so many emotions in this video. She had one dose of the vaccine at the time of infection. Like her, I was kind of just hoping she'll be asymptomatic. She wasn't. She had a fever and was bedridden for days and she can't eat or stand. She said that one of the most painful things is that she had a lot of time to think and worry about the people she may have infected (hairstylists, makeup artists, etc). It was heartbreaking to watch and I think she's very kind to feel that way for other people.

She uploaded again a few days later. Not much talking this time, and more eating. She's been really into baking (and eating) bread lately. Thankfully, her senses of taste and smell are fine.

Apparently, she's been watching The Great British Bake Off [hehe]

I feel so sorry for her.

I caught the virus back in September and I was basically bedridden for two entire weeks. I also kept my sense of taste and smell, but my body was just so weak and that exhaustion and fatigue (plus a murderous headache) was the worst symptom for me. I remember I couldn't even bring myself to watch any Netflix because it required more focus and attention than I was able to give; I just played Let's Plays of Super Mario on Youtube.

One time I went downstairs because I felt bad other people were bringing water and food to my door (we all caught it, I wasn't endangering anyone, but I was mostly too weak to leave my room). On the way back upstairs, I sat down in the middle of the stairs, again at the top of the stairs, right in front of my bedroom door, again on my bedroom floor and finally made it to my bed. It was a nightmare.

The longterm effects of this level of exhaustion were also not pleasant. After 2 weeks, I felt normal again at first. About two and a half weeks after my symptoms started, I left the house again for the first time, came back after two hours, and fell asleep from 3pm to 9am the next morning (18 hours!!!). I also think that my sleep still hasn't gone back to normal and it's nearly 1 year now since I've caught it. I used to be fine with 7 to 8 hours of sleep a night, now it's more like 10 hours. I have no idea if it will ever go back to my old rhythm, but I'm better off than many other people with long covid.

Hopefully most of Rena's symptoms will go away soon and she won't suffer too much. I'm almost glad she's no longer an idol. Her current career path will be much more accommodating if she's still suffering from it.

She has uploaded more videos. Again, they're mostly about bread.

She changed the thumbnail of this one because the sight of something dark brown and pixelated might have turned some viewers away :XD:

if the video does not show watch the video here

I think this one's thumbnail is particularly funny. The facepalm and the bread with various levels of brownness and slightly distorted faces make a great combination.

This one is doing some good numbers. Iirc, it went from 300k to 400k within 3 days. She's baking bread wearing Kikuno's hair but not her personality.

She models her... home clothes(?) while eating gummies. She chose the thumbnail based on the replies on her tweet. Also, it looks like she got a haircut.

Here's a funny story from her:
She took out a knit cardigan because it was cold. The closet that it came from also housed her cats' litter boxes and the smell has soaked into the cardigan. She solved the problem with Febreze (actually I can't understand if she went out wearing it haha). I saw a reply joking that no one would have noticed because everyone's wearing masks lol.

I wish her luck. She'll be working on her Julius Caesar stage play today.
    https://twitter.com/renampme/status/1437073248689164289

She'll probably be promoting that previously-mentioned playwright movie soon too. She's a busy girl!

Speaking of her work, Promise Cinderella's final episode airs tomorrow! It's our last chance to see her as Kikuno. I'll definitely miss her, this show was fun to watch.

Lastly, the DVDs for Zokki and its behind-the-scenes, Ura Zokki, go on sale later this month (though pre-orders are already available). She narrates Ura Zokki.

Omg, another movie?! Looks like Rena has been cast to play the main character in the movie adaptation of Shimamoto Rio's Yodaka no Kataomoi.
    https://www.oricon.co.jp/news/2207613/
Rena is a big fan of the book (it's the first of Shimamoto's books that she's read) and really wanted to play the main character Maeda Aiko. Her dream came true :cute:

    She posted on her instagram.

"The 2022 movie "Yodaka no Kataomoi" will be released.
A work of an encounter with my beloved Rio Shimamoto.
Playing Aiko was my dream. With the help of many people this time, I am happy to be able to witness the moment when the dream takes shape and becomes a work.

I have a lot of things I want to write, but it's little by little."

So, Rena wrote an essay titled 'Watashi no Moshimo Zukan' for Tripper magazine. It talks about her life now that she's 30 years old and she considers what she might be doing if she wasn't in the entertainment industry at this age.

A Thai fan has posted some translations. Credits to shopperena7 on Twitter (and/or Rena's Thai fanclub on Facebook since this has been posted there too).
    Thread 1: https://twitter.com/shopperena7/status/1443214675492048896
    Thread 2: https://twitter.com/shopperena7/status/1443216303221719040
    Thread 3: https://twitter.com/shopperena7/status/1443218168260939780

I don't speak Thai so I don't really understand all of it even with Google Translate. (If anyone here speaks Thai, would you mind me messaging you to ask for clarifications on certain parts?)

Here's some stuff that might get you interested in reading it:
    - Rena didn't feel a significant change when she turned 20 so she didn't expect some huge transformation either when she turns (turned) 30 this year. She believes that if anything were to change at a certain age, it should be initiated by the person. I remember her saying something similar on an IG story before.
    - Rena once said at home that it might be nice to work in the entertainment industry. Her mom commented on it... but unfortunately I can't interpret the translation TTvTT
    - If she wasn't in the entertainment industry, she would have wanted to experience 'a lot of love'
    - Rena signed up with a fake name on a dating app.
    - She wants to experience getting drunk and waking up in the morning regretting her actions(?) XD

These last three surprised me  and that last one reminded me of her saying in a show something like she thinks it's 'hard to find the courage' to just go in a bar and have a drink.

(If you do end up reading the threads or the Facebook post, give it a like and/or thank the translator!)

I really wish I could afford to get copies of everything Rena writes and to be able to understand them. I love literature so I'd like to read her fiction works, I find a lot of her thoughts and outlook interesting so I'm interested in her essays, and I find her unbearably cute so I also love reading her little anecdotes (e.g. litter-smelling cardigan and being scared of the initial deluge of dating app notifications).

I hope I don't come off as too creepy but dang I love her so much:cute::inlove:

The subbing has gone very slowly, but episodes 4 and 5 are now posted (but without Rena). However, the previews show that she is in episode 6. When it is posted, I will let you know. In the meantime, here is one of several images from the official show site.

Miyawaki Ryo, the director (I think) of Rena's 2020 drama 30禁, went to see the play. Google Translate says he was surprised by Rena's powerful voice and that Antony's speech was spectacular.

You can watch a little snippet of Rena's Antony here:

    I think she sounds great!

I don't think anyone's posted it yet so here's a comment video from Rena about the play, uploaded in August:

if the video does not show watch the video here

Churi also went to see the play on October 20!
    https://twitter.com/akane29_o8o/status/1450823294316277770

I thought that Rena's brown hair was just a trick of the light. Until she tweeted that it's been about two years since she's had brown hair so... I guess it wasn't a trick of the light
    https://twitter.com/renampme/status/1447493802009108486

    New YouTube video:

if the video does not show watch the video here
If you're too busy to watch the whole thing, I insist on at least watching the montage of her listening to her oshimen's album while using the mixer on her dough (because yes, she's making bread again ). It starts at around the 1:45 minute mark and lasts for about half a minute. It's the highlight of the video for me. She also sounds kind of hoarse and I think she says "Day 1" in theater voice so that must be why.

Let's end with Rena's cute girl on her latest tweet:

    Interview about the release.

Rena Matsui, who played Manami, the director of a theater company in the movie "Let's meet when the curtain goes down" that will be released on November 26th (Friday). We asked Matsui, who starred in the movie for the first time in a difficult role that makes her and her surroundings have complicated feelings, about the pain during shooting and the harvest from the appearance of this work.
