To me momu is way dead, though. It was signed and sealed for good after the Chinese girls came (yes, one of those two is rather cute, but it simply doesnt work having gaijin in momu) and after Fujimoto left. Even before that, they were already near past dead - but still (amazingly) managed to survive for some divine reason. I think Tsunku should simply admit his defeat and tell the public that he was stupid for having rules which can't be lived up to after reaching a certain age. And yes, I heard that as well - Konkon will be coming back at Gatas! Thats just awesome, and insane - and yes, I like insane! Its cool. Hooray for konkon!
They're most definitely not Tsunku's rules--they're not even UFA's rules. (Although that would be a slightly more accurate assumption.) The "no public boyfriends" rule applies to the idol, any idol, no matter what company they're under or what producer they have. (So like if an AKB48 member got caught with a guy, the only reason why it wouldn't be as big a deal is because they aren't as popular as Momusu yet.) If you're going to call it anyone's rules, they're the wotas' rules. It's the idol construct--they should feel attainable, and you can't pretend someone's your girlfriend if you know she has a boyfriend in real life. (Not saying I necessarily agree with this fantasy-land, but it IS how the idol system works.) You can blame the fact that they're idols on this supposed "fall" of Morning Musume, but unless you want to rewrite history you really can't blame the entire invention of the idol on Tsunku.
^ Very well said. And people have to remember that UFA is the one that controls these girls live, not Tsunku. Sure, he started the group and wrote their songs, but he doesn't "manage" them and gives them the 'rules' and such.
Ahwell.. I meant UFA anyway guess its just easier to point at a person than at a company. And yes, you might indeed be somewhat right about that system, though it never accured to me before since there are plenty idols who actually have a relationship going on.. But, perhaps these idols dont fill the wota category? XD Ahwell, to me they're somewhat gone anyway *sobs*.
